I always thought the Diamonds & Pearls was a pretty impressive show but if I had to pin one down it would probably be the Revolution, mind you the lovesexy tour was also pretty good. Damn just too much choice..... Say hello to Podge

i agree with you, as i said in my post, the post revolution aka SOTT was amazing..hard decison..! the D&p was just a bit crazy for me when i was 10 yrs of age..in terms of the audience!! "Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know

This is a difficult one. I first saw Prince during the Parade tour at Wembley and I was blown away. I couldn't (still can't) see that anyone could do a live performance as well as him. But I got to know Prince's music by hearing 1999 and then the Purple Rain era. It may have to be the Revolution era (just). I'd still be happy to see him in any era. The recent shows were pure joy to watch, so I can't complain "Pretty Mummy, this loco right ?" (3121)

Was the Parade tour at Wembley Stadium. As the first time I saw Prince live was at Wembley Stadium, if memory serves he was dressed all in black and spent a large part of the performance wearing a hat with chains obscuring his face or have I gone mad.

I also remember that when he did Kiss he got together with the band (Brooks, Dr Fink et al) and the part when he says "I think I wanna dance" they all joined in a line hand on shoulder and danced with a crazy on-legged side walk kind of move. It was awesome and I remember trying that with mates at parties afterwards "Pretty Mummy, this loco right ?" (3121)

Do you also remember the dance sequence when they did Mountains in the same show. It was Prince facing at the front with about 4 or 5 band members in a line behind him and then Prince did this hand-clasped-together-moving-in-a-wave type move while the people in the line behind him did spiral arm movements simultaneously. It looked stunning on stage. "Pretty Mummy, this loco right ?" (3121)

Yeah, the Parade tour was an awesome show, the line up arm waving dance was at the end of the 'Mountains' video, where they are on the magic carpet flying through the clouds, was cool. Wooden leg dance is also on the Romance 1600 live video, when the Revolution join Sheila and perform love bizarre, they turn brooks into an 'oak tree', then start cutting 'the oak tree' down to make a 'wooden leg' out of it, its a cool performance, about 10 minutes long.

He's only played Wembley Stadium once, and it was in '93 for the Act 2 tour. O+> Album. I was there too.

Ronnie Wood was there that night too "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift - that's why they call it the present." -RW Emerson

Went to the gold experience a couple of years later and it was nowhere near as good. I thought Wembley couldn't be topped for me until I went to the 02. Would love to have seen him with the Revolution though....so I'll say it again - it has to be the revolution

Act II Wembley stadium was also my first Prince gig and it was enough to have me hooked for life. I just think that stadiums are rubbish venues for gigs. I also saw Madonna and Michael Jackson at Wembley and they were all the worse for it too.RIP

Tough call:
Gold just for the first time singing P Control, I had a falcetto back then! But for me it's a toss up between SOTT and Lovesexy with the coin landing just on Lovesexy, I felt he kept the good bits from SOTT and built on it. and the Black album stuff in there too, still the night I think back to the most, it probably helps I was in my 20s then!

I agree. Big stadiums are terrible for fans. The sound is variable ( and by that I mean the volume as well as the quality ! ). If you're not in the first dozen rows you may as well watch the show on the big screens. I much prefer a smaller intimate venue. The Hammersmith Apollo has always been a favourite of mine. Lovesexy was my favourite tour, but if I had to go back in time I guess I'd like to see the Purple Rain or Dirty Mind tours.
Has anyone tried the Morris Day 'Oak Tree' dance? I think that was similar to the line of dancers on the Parade tour. I gotta Phd in advanced body movement.....

Definatly LoveSexy. Im constantly watching the LoveSexy88 DVD and would have just loved to see that in this current day. I werent even born back then, so I had no chance of seeing it live.
Oh how I wish Prince was a dirty little perv like he was back in 88 when he toured London this summer! I got more hits than Madonna's got kids!
