Marva King Live Happenings - London 26.09.2007 - UPDATE For those of you who have not tuned in on this, Marva King will be performing in London on Wednesday, 26th September. There is a lot more to her than is apparent from her supporting role in NPG and she is well worth checking out if you love smooth, heartfelt soul rhythms.
Cameo Sessions - Soho Revue Bar - 26 Sep 2007, 8.30pm Marva King will be performing an exclusive acoustic set with a pianist, live. Cost is not confirmed. 11 Walkers Court, Off Brewer St, London, W1F 0ED. 020 7439 4089. http://www.sohorevuebar.com/ ----- Music Box Jam Live @ The Pigalle Club - 26 Sep 2007, 10.30pm Marva is performing as part of the evenings 'jam' with Gregory Boyer (Prince's Trombonist & Horn Arranger). It is not clear who else is playing with them, possibly the band Marva played with at The Gramophone (NOT NPG). ----- UPDATE I paid The Pigalle Club a visit on Tuesday night, to try and establish what the format of the 'Music Box Jam' is. I gather that it is a sit-in scene, with up to twenty performers/musicians being given the opportunity to play over the course of the evening. Typically a smaller group of performers are given 2/3/4 song bandstand slots. So it is possible that Marva and Gregory may only been doing 3 songs. I think the whole deal is fluid and driven by the unique mood of the assembled performers, which should lend itself to spontaneity and a real good time. The music can go on until 1.00am. ----- Doors: 7.00pm Kevin Mark Trail Onstage: 9.00pm Jam Session: 10.30pm Cost: Before 10.00pm - FREE. After 10.00pm - £10 - £25 (£10 entry on the door and £25 for show and dinner). 215-217 Piccadilly, London, W1J. Reservations: 0845 345 6053 reservations@vpmg.net General enquiries call: 020 7287 3834. AFTER 6PM CALL 020 7734 8142. ----- SOURCES: http://www.myspace.com/marvaking http://www.sohorevuebar.com/ http://www.vpmg.net/pigalle/ Indi. [Edited 9/24/07 14:20pm] [Edited 9/25/07 15:25pm]

'Marva King will be performing an exclusive acoustic set with a pianist'..
Live in hope that the pianist is dressed in purple...?! I can dream can't I?! "Well, maybe not the ride..."

I would not expect P to be there or performing. She is great in her own right and worthy of support on that basis alone.

Thankx Indi for the Info, BTW you were right about what you org noted me last week about TM, last time i will ever cry wolf again , although I was not far off with the Planetearth-marketplace guess If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

you know -on the planetearth-marketplace guess, it's possible to read it literally as something other than a mysterious clue.. go read the title of the thread, then read p's comment.. it actually makes non cryptic sense...

I know, a marketplace is where you swap things, but you know what prince is like with double meanings If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

thanks for letting us know...this may just help a little with the withdrawal symptoms that have now started, the constant twitching over ticketmaster on my bookmark bar is driving me insane!!
so i've now booked a table at the Pigalle - I met Greg Boyer after the 14th aftershow and he was a true gent.... now just a little chat with Marva and I'll be very happy. easing yourself off the addiction very gently is the only way 'til you're burnin' up

She's playing two different venues. First one more of an unplugged set with just pianist in Revue bar, then another show at the Pigalle with a full band from what I understand. Both venues within walking distance of one another.

Booooo! I'd like to go to these but I'm throwing a fundraising party tonight. Steer Marva in the direction of the Windsor Arms at Baker Street when she's done! [Edited 9/26/07 7:48am]

T'was a great night...Shelby, Mr Hayes, Baby Faced assassin, Greg and Marva all in the house. They all joined in at some point bar Maurice who was Mr laid back as always.
Some great P-Funk jamming led by Greg...and lots of fun had by all - very loose and a lot of fun. The band are off to Moscow tomorrow...the funk is hitting Russia sometime soon! "Don't u wanna come, 3121..." T

Highlights were Greg Boyer and the band playing Sexy MF and Shelby J going on stage to sing Jill Scott's 'A Long Walk In The Park'....Marva sang a song about her Afro and did a take on Rhianna's "Umbrella" (she'd just been given an umbrella by someone in front of the stage - I didn't see who from up the balcony) - she also gave out a few of her CD's. It was a good move to book a table upstairs as seated near Shelby and Mr Hayes, Marva also came up to hang with Shelby later 'til you're burnin' up
