Easter said: This is what has been one of the greatest things about 'the summer that changed everything' - for some of us I don't think that is an exaggeration. I think it's easy to just put your kids lives at the forefront of everything you do, and almost 'forget' that you were once young, had passions and dreams etc. Well this summer, I have 'remembered' that I am a passionate woman - who LOVES Prince, adores going to concerts and generally - used to be able to have a good time and party all night. OK - the 'all night' bit isn't quite so true now (though did stay up through a couple of aftershows!). I think it's also great for my kids (2 8yr old twins) to see their mum still 'living it up' at 34. I work bloody hard, and my kids get the best of whatever I can manage to get them - so how about I have some fun too? Prince got me through my teens, and he has got better (I think) with age - and guess what... I think I have too!
[Edited 10/2/07 9:12am] As a yummy mummy at 47 (yes, I still turn heads and someone called me that the other day), you are merely 34 yrs old - thats still so young, of course you should be 'going for it'. I totally understand how easy it is to get bogged down into a sedate and run of the mill lifestyle. Kids, husbands, jobs, cooking, cleaning, housework, blah blah blah.... but goodness, let this be a lesson to check out the concerts, venues, live gigs, theatre, etc. I have an 8yr old and work, etc. and my life is frantically busy, mainly because I actually do fit in one of the above every month or so. Its an outlet and it keeps you fit, healthy, young and fascinating to everyone around you!!

I am thinking of hiring a Prince tribute act for my 40th next year, although maybe that would annoy all my guests as I'd be the only screeching along to all the songs whilst everyone else just looked bemused! Glad Prince has helped so many of us reclaim our youth and our passion! PS. My brother lives in the US temptingly close to Paisley Park (about 20 mins away)...perhaps I could send him there to borrow a cup of sugar and petition for Prince's return to the UK... Might b able 2 help out with ur birthday party..;o) www.princetribute.co.uk Mums make the world go round..peace & love 2 y'all!

Well, I am NOT a mummy, as I an American Mom--in fact, pregnant with #3. But MANY PROPS to the original poster who could not have expressed my own perspective any more cogently. I got to see our man TWICE in Vegas this past February and March. First time was with my hubby, second time was with my best best friend--another hot mama! Both times were QUITE LITERALLY the times of my life. Both in Feb and Mar, I got into the small "jazz room" during the aftershow--and in March with my best friend, Prince squeezed right behind my chair and smiled a very coy, shy, boyish smile at me. A moment I will never forget.
And yes, I now cannot get enough of seeing him in a live setting--wishing for more DVDs, especially. My own personal theory for women in our age group (I'm 35) is that Purple Rain occurred at a very formative period for us, as we hit puberty and started discovering what "sexy" is. I know personally, Purple Rain was my first "R" rated movie, and DEFINITELY my first sex scene---O. M. G. Prince's hand sliding down App's happy trail while watching the camera. How many 12-16 year olds were in that audience feelin' a little creamy themselves for the first time! LOL! But, beyond this analysis, I just have to say that I encourage ALL of us to continue enjoying this high--it's how we stay in that "yummy" category. Getting dressed up to go out, reading every little detail so we can enjoy all the subtleties and innuendo of the live gigs, it all just adds to the experience. I just hope our man hits Raleigh after April when my little one is born so I can go to the next concert without a prego belly! And I guess I need to hope that he holds off until late summer so I can actually be away from the baby for 6-8 hours at once! LOL! Thanks for this thread! Love to know there are lots of us out there!

Great thread! I can totally relate to everything everyone has said so far. I'm a 30 something!! Mum with a 4 year old. And Yes, Prince made me remember who I am too - I was also dancing like a nutter at the shows, and didn't care one little bit. Perhaps we should start a new fansite called 'Prince's Yummy Mummies'. Paris here we come.....

I so agree with all of you i am 28 and have a 4yr old and 19 month old and i had the best time this summer and feel like all of you somehow different now. My 4 yr old now loves Prince due to me playing it full blast at every opportunity and dancing round the front room with her. She ran up the stairs the other day at my parents house and knocked on the toilet door, shouting Mummy mummy it's Prince!!!!! Everyone was cracking up it was funny. Think that says it all.
So nice to read so many people feel the same way. If he plays somewhere else close to uk would love to take my 4 yr old she would love it.

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad that someone started this thread! I feel completely the same way - like I have found myself again. Since the concerts I have dug out all my old Prince albums, replaced lost and scratched ones, got a couple of the albums that were missing from my collection (and even acquired one or two unofficial ones ) I have converted my dh into a Prince fan and my daughter probably doesn't think that other music or musicians exsist She goes round the house shouting 'Oowwaah!' and 'Hundalasilliah' (that's ma girl )
I would also like to add that going to the Prince concerts this summer (went to 3) has completely revived my sex life Having a couple of naughty weekends away with my husband, without our daughter has really done it for us... so much so that we found out that I was pregnant this week! I'm the 29 year old yummy mummy of a 3 year old who was conceived after 2 years of trying and a course of very expensive IVF treatment, so it came as a huge shock when I got a big blue cross on tuesday! We weren't trying for a baby, just enjoying our Princely rejuvenated sex life! I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off
C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe.. www.KerrysCakes.org.uk
