I'm in the same situation, and was instructed by Consumer Direct to write to Ticketmaster before going to small claim court ,I have and they AGAIN forwarded the correspondence to AEG.. in the meantime I've received the cheque from AEG ( this week),62.42 for 2 VIP tickets, and now I was going to the small claim court, but the resolution for your problem sounds quite promising!

Could you please let me know the address and the person you dealt with? My letters were addressed to the Customer Services Department in Manchester.

Thank you very much!!

im sure U will get a total refund.
did U cash that cheque?
i want to get 2 the bottom of this cause it sounds like only 2 ppl got full refunds so far which i think is unfair if the rest r just getting 31.21 per ticket.

how many folx did get a full refund is what id love 2 know as if there was a way i could get one as well id be a happy wolf.

as well as all this crap about signing confidentiality agreements is total nonsence n my view....not saying folx r tellin porkies here but it sounds a bit much 4 something as trivial as a refund 4 235 quid.

vdal- I sent my letter to Ticketmaster Customer Services @ 48 Leicester Square, London WC2H 7LR My next letter would have gone to the Managing director.

i have no idea what the winning move was. Since i tried all sorts.

Basically, it's my opinion that since you bought from ticketmaster, ticketmaster are liable. The law of the country outweighs any terms and conditions.

You have rights with ticketmaster, and they in turn, have rights with AEG. Your case is with ticketmaster. I told ticketmaster that i hoped they could get their money back from aeg, but that it wasn't really my problem.

This is how i approached ticketmaster. I think my letter covers most of it, if i had access to the legislation that markland posted at the time it was written, i would have quoted it.

I really don't know what worked. Maybe me showing up at their office convinced them that we weren't going to take things lying down.. maybe they lost a case at small claims already.? Maybe the restricted view legislation was something they would hope no one pulled out (it opens a huge can of worms- it applies to normal seats as WELL as vip seats)

My advice is keep going at them..

as for how many other people got full refunds.. I have no way of knowing. Unless everyone checks back in here. i don't think we'll ever find out..

glyn...firstly well done n i bet ur pleased with gettin the dosh back b4 xmas as we can all do with xtra dosh this time of year.
U mentioned the fact U didnt get a chance 2 send AEG back the cheque.
is it the way that ticketmaster know about that cheque from AEG and they r refunding the remainder whats due so U can cash the cheque from AEG?

cause i accepted the offer of an upgrade 2 VIP i was told im not gettin a cheque and i already got on2 ticketmaster several times n complained n was told that it was AEG live who were goin 2 compensate anyone with shitty seats i.e..restricted view etc....i was given F2 seat at the back n i had a terrible view.....im sooooo pissed off.
what i cant understand is if now they r willing 2 give full refunds why is it that up till last week AEG live r sending out folx a cheque 4 £31.21 per VIP ticket n not the full amount....they could always deduct a small fee for the 4 drinks and the food they give us as there was no entertainment provided n the backstage bar i think £25 4 the drinks n food is acceptable.
most of that finger food was bought n iceland n prepared n there kitchen.
the drinks were around 3.50 each....so they made huge profits each night where im sure prince himself got a big slice of the pie.
never again will i b taken 4 a mug as im sure all my friends here feel the same.

Hi Glyn,thanks for your reply.
I'll send another letter to this address and if I have time may pay a visit to them..worth a try before going to small claims.

Thanks again, and keep us informed re. your refund.

And I still have the cheque from AEG.

no worries as i didnt read ur reply properly..soz.....i just want ya 2 win ur case n i want ya 2 have ur money back..thats why i created this thread...i have a few m8s who went VIP n were all screwed like U n i.
if U go 2 the small claims it will b well worth it cause they dont have a leg 2 stand on once U dont cash the cheque.
maybe ticketmaster now have the power 2 issue full refunds....i might get on2 them myself during the next week but i doubt i will get 1 cause i took AEG up on there offer.

Mr Wolfhound, I was thinking of contacting Ticketmaster myself, I got access to VIP another night (i already had gig tickets purchased myself for the night).

AEG were very clear when I spoke to them on the phone that I was not being issued any form of refund for the VIP package, their offer to attend VIP bar again was a purely complimentary offer for the dissappointment in the VIP package I attended originally.

So I figure I've got nothing to lose in pursuing ticketmaster for compensation.

yeah...they told me the same...like U i had gig tickets already purchased so they just let me in2 the backstage bar on 1 of the gigs i was attending so there4 i got no cheque whatsoever.
U got a better deal then me though cause U were let bring friends as well as getting all those booze tokens from maxine who got the sack once the gigs were over.
i think they will just refer the matter back 2 AEG again n they will have it on file how they offered U a goodwill gesture.
i think its worth the phone call 2 ticketmaster n i will deffo b speakin 2 a supervisor r manager.
besides the VIP fiasco i got ripped off with the aftershow fuckups like dr john etc.

im gonna ring ticketmaster 2morrow r tuesday 2 find out what the deal is...as i have already logged a complaint with them b4 with the same ticket number they will have my detials on file.
they told me b4 that it was AEG that were dealing the complaints 4 the VIP.

p.s...call me wolfy n i hope ya get ur £££ back 2...just dont tell em U were sent back 4 the free booze.

just spoke 2 a supervisor called john @ ticketmaster customer care n the UK n he has told me that nobody is getting full refunds n nobody has.
he told me that he would pass my new compliant on2 AEG n that is the way they r dealing with the issue.
he asked me was i already offered something by AEG and when i said yes he more r less thought i was takin the mick.
its my own fault 4 accepting AEG on there offer of attending the backstage bar on a different night.
i told him i would b takin a small claim action against them if i didnt get a full refund n there reply was..."U r more then within UR rights 2 go 2 court".

if i c here where ppl r gettin full refunds i might try callin back again but 4 now i am being told a firm no.

Did you accept the crappy tickets too or was it just the entrance to the bar, If it was just the entrance to the bar, and you had shit seats at the Shite reception that you paid for first time round, you maybe able to argue a refund on the ticket price?

In some of your old posts you said you really enjoyed it second time round so I'm thinking maybe all you have is a fighting chance as long as you had the shit seats. Good luck to you anyway. And John can be proud to know that his a tosser that lies outta his big fat Ticketmasterbaters crack afterall who was it that refunded Glyn.

Well, i wouldn't say John is a tosser who lies.. Most likely he is a good person misinformed by his superiors scared to do what he likely wants to do for fear of losing his job.. new information does not filter through bureaucracies rapidly.

Most people below a certain level just repeat the company line, and that is the company line. NO REFUNDS, AEG ARE DEALING WITH IT.

If you want to make a complaint, do it in writing. State the laws they have broken. (both of which are in this thread- steal wholesale chunks of my letter if you want) Tell them what you want them to do do make it good.

And if they said that the other vip night you were offered was a "goodwill gesture" maybe try and play the angle that it couldn't have been a refund or resolution for the dispute because it was goodwill. And thus couldn't affect your rights.

If you can prove they (ticketmaster and aeg) misled you about your rights when you accepted the goodwill gesture, I think you might still have a case. by not issuing cheques as partial refunds or admitting any blame - to my mind the cheques and free vip nights/exchanges are not legally binding as settlements so aeg have somewhat compromised themselves.(Markland doesn't necessarily agree with this, and i see his point as to how it could be argued- since you have already accepted them , it's not like you have any choice)

It's cheeky but so is charging 234 pounds for a view of a drummers ass and some twiglets.

Once i get my money back i am quite prepared to give 5 minutes or so of my time to a 3 way conversation with ticketmaster in which i give them my ref, they look at my account details and then apologise profusely to you.

The strongest case will be if you stick to your seating details i think. You have specific laws protecting you there.

EDIT: NOV 29th 2007 WEIRDLY i can't post a further reply to this topic, but i can add an edit.... so my refund came today, from ticketmaster.. I asked what the winning move was but i was not told (obviously- but it was worth a shot) it seems they didn't get my latest letter till after they agreed the refund because ticketmaster phoned to make sure i was still happy and that the money had gone in my account. Feel free to orgnote me if anyone wants any help..

maybe john didnt have the info U guys have but he is a supervisor n was was very nice 2 a point.
it was JUST the reception i got 4 free the second time as i had already bought all my tix previously.....they did offer me a complimentary seat 4 the show as well as entrance 2 the backstage bar....so im sorry now i didnt take that ticket n flog it!!!!!

as far as im concerned it was my mistake buying the VIP ticket n the first place but they failed 2 provide what was written on the discription...complimentary bar...was then changed 2 4 free alcohol drinks...entertainment was non Xistent where we had a black curtain with the atmosphere of a funeral home....buffet turned out 2 b a few bits of food on sticks...n we were promised transfer 2 seats which they failed 2 provide as well as being offered the best seats n the house...which i ended up n F2 the night i had paid £239.95 4 my ticket.
