Opened at Midday Saturday 30th April 1994... I just found some receipts from that day too ( is that sad or what ?? lol) The Time capsule was in the basement.. in between the two lower rooms . it had a circular glass floor to look in to it.( but I can't remember what was in it.!) I made enquiries recently at the premises but no one had ever been to the lower floor.. so I have no idea if it is even still there ( kinda defeats the whole reason to put one there doesn't it !!) Gx [Edited 9/25/07 10:14am] I was there the day it opened well got there ther night before and was almost crushed when P was on the 1st floor balcony. Went back many times when it was open to meet friends (prince Fans) (debbie Bevelery Sue if you out there gis a shout) much fun was had there shame it closed down.

Not surprised it closed down - wasn't really much of a business proposition. Could have been, though, if he'd stocked CDs by his influences for example so that he could reach out to non-Prince fans too and sell stuff to the fans that have all his music but don't want to collect tat. Got a pencil there with symbols all over it, and had a drink watching the undertaker concert film I think.

still is some intresting items to be found around the camden markets wish i had been able to see the shop but it shut down a while before i became a fan With Love there is no Death

Un4tunately, I never made it there. 2young. But several years later, my mum came across a mirror that was made 4 the shop in Camden (a run of only 40 before the template was ordered 2b destroyed).
It was in a second hand shop & priced @ £15. I now have it up in my studio. Very proud of it! Any1 remember seeing it in the shop??

Wasn't much to look at to be honest, and the CD's they had on show weren't the collectable ones. I just remember going downstairs into the fragrance area and getting blown away by the smell of the incense and all that. It was tiny and I remember it having something upstairs, think it was a coffee bar or something.
It was good to walk from the underground upto it, cause you passed Camden market, and the lock...shame it's gone. i remember when he came to the grand opening, the street was packed out!!!! Im sure Mayte was with him?? "Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know

Groovy reading all these memories of the NPG shop...filling in a lot of holes in my memory. I was also there a lot and once got to play the yellow cloud guitar one morning when it was being cleaned. The time capsule contains a complete set of Prince's releases up to "Staxowax" and is still there and still visible as far as I know. I'd totally forgotten about the PC where you could play the 'Interactive' cd-rom but now it's all come back to me. I found that thing so frustrating!!

It was supposed to have been but didn't fit or something. It ended up for sale in the shop, I got to play it and some very lucky dude who has a thread here somewhere got to buy it.

i remember the night when Mayte and Prince were married. There was a big party for them at the store. Did anyone go to that. I have some pics of the replica wedding cake in the window of the store. I live miles away from london so, the next morning Marie said that i could go in the store and have it to myself and shop for what ever i wanted before going home. I helped clean up too as the place was a mess. I remember Marie saying that Prince woud not be happy seeing the place like this. She then said that Prince and Mayte got married at 4 in the morning our time that night and i was the first person she had told , she had to annouce the marriage had took place to the press later in the day and swore me to secrecy until it had been annouced, who was i going to tell anyway. I miss the place i'll have to find the photo's of the replica wedding cake. Business Manager to Cat Glover.
