Idiot security guards at Indigo!

I met two huge fans at the aftershow on 21.9.07. then minutes later i saw them being pulled out of their seats by this early 20's power tripped. I thought it was because they were dealing drugs or something...but no..it was because they had taken a few photos on their phones from the back row of the balcony of the venue...what a joke ! THE GUARD WENT THRU EVERY PHOTO ON THEIR PHONES !!!! sad these two guys had probably spent thousands of pounds on Prince stuff and they get this for taking a few long distance photos of their idol ? S I C K !!!!!

There are numerous warnings before you go into the Indigo not to take photos. Not only that, it has been known that Prince is reluctant to come on stage if he see people taking photos, so just a few people taking some pics could ruin it for everyone.

Its weird because people were blatantly taking video/photos in the main gig, right under security's noses and nothing happened confused

Hi Peppeken. Did they have to leave the Indigo? If no, then I think that there is nothing wrong with this action. It is clearly stated everywhere that you are not allowed to make pictures! Why is it so hard for people to listen?

Just enjoy the show, and don't live your life through a pocket camera.....

Can't really blame the security guards for doing their job - the rules were pretty clear and security didn't make them.

I got told off by one but I only blame myself for breaking the rules wink

There was a man next to me texting his friend and a security man was staring at him with these mad eyes throughout. The person texting didn't even notice him. I thought the security there were really good - so long as you didn't do things that you knew you shouldn't be doing in the first place. smile

If they were that 'huge fans' then they might have apreciated their artist's wishes not to have his photo taken whilst he is performing...!?

There were warnings everywhere, and people were told they would be ejected if they did take a photo.

I don't see the issue...

Subject: documenting the last 2 gala events!!!

dear patrons of the arts,

we are planning to document the last 2 gala event shows of this tour. but we are also interested in your experience of getting ready for the shows to get another perspective on the events.

so if you have tickets for either the detroit (sept 25th) or chicago (sept 26th) gala event shows, and you own a video camera, please begin to document your preparations for the show.

if you are shopping for an outfit, or picking one out from your closet, getting mentally and physically prepared for the show, doing your squat thrusts or drinking margaritas... whatever it is that you do in the days, hours, minutes, leading up to the show, please document it. you can also bring your camera to the show to record your arrival, hanging out at the show, leaving, driving home..... of course we are not looking to to make AIFST! But you are welcome to use your camera to document your experience at the show.

and then send us the footage, and we will try to include it in our film of the show.

if you want to register to be a part of this, please email us at this address - galaevent2007@yahoo.com - and put "GALA EVENT 2007" in the subject line.

as always, thank you for your patronage, and we'll see you on the ice.

beatsie boys

ps. attached are a few wardrobe don't do's.

Subject: The Gala Challenge

hey all,

our last run of shows (associated with our 16 time platinum album entitled "THE MIX-UP") are about to go down. as you well know, there are two types of shows, gala event, and regular shows. we have asked that people dress up for the gala events, and while some of you have taken the time to dress up nice, others are pretending that you are hobos. if you are coming to a gala event, don't dress up like box-car-johnney. don a suit, or a tux, or a dress, or something that says "ooh i'm looking fancy" or "i look quite smart". Leave your crappy t-shirt and jeans at home, it's not that kind of party. and when we see you dressed up all nice, we will be friends again.

love,
the beazley boys

PS. click here to see some pictures of people who dressed nice. www.beastieboys.com/galashots/

I got pulled up when sending a text. As soon as the guy saw what I was doing he was fine about it. I told him I knew the rules and wasn't going to take any risks. Also saw one guy getting torched and lazered from all directions. Three security descended on him to discover that he was texting and they let him be.

It doesn't matter what we may or may not think of Prince's views about photography but the message couldn't have been any clearer. Nobody can complain for breaking a rule and getting pulled up on it. It's like people that get nicked for speeding and then call the police all the names under the sun for nicking them. What was the limit? How fast were you going? Well shut up then! Not saying I don't do it but I sure as hell ain't gonna whine about people doing their jobs if I'm caught.
RIP sad

I got jumped on & threatened with ejection for filming at the Friday night aftershow, but I'm not complaining. They were well within their rights, and not unreasonable.

During the build up (I was in the Balcony) I'd been showing two girls next to me some footage from opening night, Aug 1. Everyone was filming on their phones that night - no one seemed to care and Prince even looks right at mine at one point without appearing miffed. Oddly enough all 3 of us got tons of Aug 1 footage and none of us had taken so much as a snapshot since. And my phone (Nokia N95 for anyone who cares) appears to have the best video camera by a long shot. So when Amy Winehouse shows up, the girl next to me says 'Get your camera out, I'll keep a lookout'. I filmed just under 4 minutes of it, got away with it, and put the phone in my pocket.

Then the bouncer came. I was asked for my phone. I refused (I'm not sure anywhere can legally take a phone these days given the personal information contained inside). So I was told they were chucking me out. Given the events of the day and my last gasp tickets to both shows, I said that hardly seemed fair. (I have to point out that this was civilised on both ends from start to finish). I was told me if they could watch me delete it right infront of them then I could stay and keep the phone. So I fumbled around, found my movie poster wallpaper in my gallery, deleted that, quickly went back to my (now barren) main screen and said 'Oh, no, you've caused me to delete everything by mistake. What am I gonna do?' Something was mumbled about it being my own fault and that was that. My phone never left my pocket again. And I kept the footage. (It was such an obvious stunt that I'm not entirely sure the bouncer wasn't on to me, and was happy just to watch me appear to do something to look good for their superiors - I'll never know).

It was a silly thing to do in the spirit of the moment. But I've got to admit, although the video footage isn't great, I've been playing the audio ever since. What a performance from them both. I hope the NPG version (preferably this one, or one of the Shelby nights would be pretty cool too) sees the light of day on a CD / DVD sometime soon.
