Yea or Nea, Prince Music at Aftershows? I can't see how a Superstar would play so much of other peoples stuff and stood of his own sh*$.??? How do you all think about that?? I can see you playing a few other people jams but look at the last aftershow:
Indigo2 1.27 - 4.15 approx 150 minutes performance time. Approx 3 minutes of instrumental intro with curtains closed Love Is A Losing Game Amy Winehouse (Amy Winehouse lead vocal) 7 Come Together The Beatles Honky Tonk Women The Rolling Stones (Shelby J. lead vocal) Rock Steady Aretha Franklin (Beverley Knight lead vocal) Whole Lotta Love Led Zeppelin Shhh All The Critics Love You In London Sexy Dancer w Le Freak Chic lyrics & Movin' Brass Construction (Shelby J. lead vocal) Chelsea Rogers (Shelby J. lead vocal) Short break Misty Blue (Shelby J. vocal) written by Bobby Montgomery Baby Love Mother's Finest (Shelby J. lead vocal) (Outro of Kiss) Alphabet St Instrumental incl "I like funky music" chant Get On The Boat Love Rollercoaster The Ohio Players riff Play That Funky Music Wild Cherry 9 minute break Anotherlover/Rock Lobster B-52's Villanova junction Jimi Hendrix Peach / Rock me baby BB King (verses of both sung) Stratus Billy Cobham The ? Of U/ The One What Have You Done For Me Lately? Janet Jackson Partyman It's Alright Graham Central Station Thats a lot of Covers? I thought that what cover bands do? Whats up with playing something from his enormous catalouge of jams like Days of Wild, My Name is Prince, Big White Manison, Get Wild, Love, Fury, Acknowledge Me, Race, Now, Emale, NPG, on an on????

Quoting my own comments from another thread:
"I feel that the aftershows are about the music, they are about a musican being able to have creative freedom to do whatever he feels like without worrying what the masses think. Prince is obviously a music lover and he seems to really enjoy being a part of a band and watching the other performers/musicians too (as do I). Some things work, some things don't. Some people love what he does and some people don't. One size will definately not fit all! It's a good thing for a musican and performer to pander to their creative desires/moods, if they don't they will end up like any other bland MTV act." I will add that I don't care what he plays as long as it's good. Prince has been influenced by many great artists - and that influence and inspiration shines through his own songs and performance - it's natural that he would enjoy playing the covers that he chooses. Don't forget that all of the 02 aftershows have followed 2 hour performances where Prince has played plenty of his own stuff. "Put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip,
and come on up to the Mothership!"

It's not often you'll get to see an artist like him so what does it matter if his performing songs that just maybe he likes.

His aftershows have always had a lot of covers, lots of jamming, reworked versions of his own songs and a load of extended stuff. Thats what its all about. And great it is too.
After playing a lot of more mainstream songs at the main show it's always good to hear Prince play what he wants to play how he wants to play it. ....maybe except the 15 minute version of All the critics...!!!

At the aftershow, I have always had the view Prince can do whatever the hell he wants! I think he should make more of an effort in the main show to do stuff like "When Doves Cry".
But the aftershow? Anything goes. .
