After the Aftershow

Holy living fu*k.

What a show. What a musician. What a band.

A truly life-changing three hours.

Nothing could have prepared me for that.

Peerless.

Would have been nice to have a little less jamming and a bit more song but overall I enjoyed it. Had a good dance - unlike most around me!

And many thanks to the kind orger that sold me a spare aftershow ticket (at face value) without which I would not have been able to go.

..and Beverley.

I'll be honest - I really wasn't feeling it at the start. Was great to have the 2 of them up but then think it went a bit flat for a while - but MY GOD did it pick up !!

Insane - great. Amazing.
He was right - a new name does feel mighty fine....now for some fun - MWA HA HA HA

It's all very well having Shelby sing "Love Is A Losing Game" but when the curtains drew back and Amy was there for the first number I knew my night was already as good as it can be! smile

Not that I don't love Shelby ("a star is born" indeed) - but Amy singing her own song with Prince supplying the guitar breaks was a moment I'll remember until my dying day.

What else?

Oh, just when we thought it was all over Prince started getting heavy on the guitar and then broke into "Stratus" which has become my favourite instrumental at the aftershows. Thought he wasn't going to do it tonight but I should have known better! Actually, they did "Stratus" better on the 1st September but who cares - this last aftershow was a 3 hour marathon I will never forget and as a whole it blew my mind over and over again.

How could I forget - Beverly Knight rocked the house too!!!

We got Le Freak, we had Honky Tonk Women, we had a fucking ball!

Love and peace to Prince and the NPG

Come back to London soon y'all

xx

What were people's impressions of the crowd tonight. I can only speak for the people around me (just in front of the railing on the lower floor section to the left of the stage. They seemed a bit subdued to me. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

They knew it was the end... must've been some sadness kicking in there...

Maybe. Or maybe because I was so up for it it just seemed that others weren't

Yeah, a few very nice people wanted to give us their tickets and passes on their way out but security were having none of it, especially that one perverted mong eyeing up all the drunk girls staggering in and out and then sneering at us. I never understood that guy's attitude - we were all in good spirits and polite to them all, there to have a good time whether we got in or not. There was just no need.

Were there a lot of these people then?
Pity thay didn't just give away their passes out of sight of security!

There were only a handful of people offering up their passes, but it didn't make much of a difference because the guys at the door knew who we were anyway. If we hadn't have been standing around at the front all night then they probably wouldn't have offered them in the first place.

We saw a few fans get in through this method because they were more discreet when hanging outside. Oh well, good for them I say. I'm a terrible liar.
