I still can't get over the 28th August aftershow.
I blasted out the CD on the way to work and I had goose bumps all the way in. The man is pure genius! I knew the 21st September aftershow wouldn't come close, so wasn't disappointed. Great as it was... I'm hot and I don't care who knows it...I got a job to do.

purplejosh said: Thirdly - All the Critics In London/New York - this went on for about 20 mins too long.
Funny that, I was driving back home that same night whilst missing the aftershow and felt the urge to play 1999 just to hear All the Critics Love U in NY. I could listen to this song for hours, it's got such a hypnotic beat. What was that live version like? Other than the timing information please...

What about Friday the 24th August? I thought that was fantastic; Partyman a few songs in was brilliant.
Am I getting it out of perspective because after attending the Dr. John fiasco I was just so happy he turned up? It was not full either and that made it better. The 21st after show was amazing and thank God I was there. But I actually enjoyed the 20th and 21st main shows more. Any thoughts on this?

i'm surprised that the september the 1st aftershow isn't getting more of a mention here. prrrrobably the most exciting one of the 7 i saw (though admittedly i missed the 28th august one) and probably the best atmosphere i witness in the indigo.
i LOVE LOVE LOVE prince's cover of 'let's go' by the cars to start. his first taste of 'the one you wanna see'. his extraordinarily falsettoed 'gotta broken heart again' and his kashmir/chain psychedelic sprawl song was absolutely mindblowing. and the 10 minutes after the show ended turning back up on stage with shelby for 'redheaded stepchild' and really fucking tearing the roof off. i left that show absolutely spellbinded and it's indelibly marked on the inside of my silly little brain forever.
