Some thoughts:

I’m the Asian guy with the big loop earring in my left ear. Some people told me I look like Jesus, others said I look like Prince from the ‘I wanna be your lover; video…Remember me?

Anyway,

I did 13 main shows and 14 after shows in total so I’m sure I must have bumped into a fair few of you…

Thank you Prince for a wonderful Summer. I will never forget: (in no particular order)

Leaving work and driving to the 02 before each show listening to Planet Earth on the way.

Waiting for friends at Greenwhich Tube station and seeing all the fans poor out, looking at the Prince posters on the walls

Waiting for Khabir and nearly killing him when he almost made me miss the start of the show on the opening night. Introducing Amara to Bobby Friction.

Being approached by Amber, the photographer who wanted to take my picture for an exhibition she is working on.

Going to each show with 1, 2 or 3 friends that I’ve been talking to Prince about for years. More so, seeing them blown away.

Singing the ‘Aaaaaright’ from ‘Forever in my Life’ till my head nearly exploded with joy as Prince walked around the stage. (on the 14th I think)

Prince saying ‘give my brother some room’ and the spot lights, as some big old(er) guy busted dance moves centre stage on the 9th.

Listening to Joy in Repetition (on the 3rd I think) and feeling Princes guitar playing in my bones.

Looking at Princes face from the floor as he started to sing ‘Something in the Water’ at his piano

The best aftershow ever (I think) when Prince sang ‘Around the world in a day,’ and I jumped around with Joy. Paisley Park, Party Up, Whole Lotta Love…

Listening to Prince sing the first verse/chorus of ‘Love is a Loosing Game’

Seeing the curtains go back to find Amy and Prince standing together (the 21st)

Shhhh (every damn time it killed me)

The after show when Prince did Planet Earth, Guitar, Somewhere here on Earth and the 1 u Wanna C and also the debut of Chelsea Rodgers.

All the Critics love you in London

Money don’t matter tonight at his piano, and singing along to this as a tear rolled down my cheek.

Holding Amara as Prince sang ‘All good things they say-never last’

Holding Tim as Prince played guitar on ‘Love is a Loosing game’ and Shelby sang (the first time I saw this.)

A love Bizaar with the lights on, the Elton John thing (even though I don’t like him) jumping with Sulaima, Zavit and Moppy (all on the 13th) Meeting Skin

Dr John (just because I was so pissed off)

The night of the 4th/08 dancing with Imran, Mutty and Khabir to ‘Poison’ and other 90s swing classics spun by the DJ and then seeing Nika Costa tear it up. After the main show Imran said’ I like that song Purple Rain. That’s the first time I’ve heard it’

Tim and Riad always getting drunk on JD and Coke at the Afttershows. Riad pointing at Shelby and saying ‘that’s not Prince!’ Tim going for cig breaks and winding me up because he missed Empty Room!

Waqar and Nisa being scared of drunk Tim and especially drunk Riad.

Seeing Fatima and Sandy whilst waiting for Mutty on the wall.

Parking in the cheap car park and running across.

Eating Margherita and tuna fish salad in Frankie and Bennys after each show. Staff: ‘You again!’

The 17th aftershow (going to Riads place after and watching Prince Videos till the dawn whilst eating tuna fish on the roof)

The Morning Papers at his piano-sitting with Kandy (6th/ 09 I think)

Vula singing ‘Loving you is easy cos your beautiful’ (on the 12th/09)

Getting last minute after show tickets for the 18th and arriving just as a couple left ‘This is shit-he’s not even there’. Tim and I took our seats to see Prince with the feathered red hat play beautiful soulful music…he debut of ’toilet seat’

Reading about Prince in the Metro etc on the tube

Driving back to Kingston with Tim and putting another PE CD on the table. My loop earing placed on top.

Getting back to Chingford, eating toaste before dawn to start a new days fasting.

Thank you so very much. I was there for the September 9th main show and after show, what a fantastic night, I've never heard anything like it (well, not until the next Prince show anyway).

thanks prince.. i made a packet on e bay through various final main show and aftershow tkts, annoyed a few Self righteous people because of this on the org and still got to go myself to the final noght and it was great!.. please come back soon!

i booked 4 main shows and 3 aftershows.
i went to 6 main shows and 15 aftershows.
this really was the summer that changed everything.

I just wanted to add my thanks too....

Ever since I was a young, moody teen, falling asleep to Purple Rain (the album) on my little red Sony Walkman with huge headphones (before they were retro), every night for about 2 years, and dreaming about marrying Prince , and then learning the delights of Parade on my dodgy turntable - I have absolutely loved his voice, music, lyrics and general, all-round funkiness...

to then hear the most amazing versions of all those tunes - (big thanks for girls and boys on the last night)- has been really emotional!
of course, the fact that my boyfriend proposed to me at the last show didn't help!

thank you Prince - please keep on doing what you do, and please come back soon.
(or at least, let us know where you're playing next so I can drag my husband-to-be to your next gig for our honeymoon...)

Dear Prince, thank U deep from my heart for this beautifull experience. Attanding ur last 2 shows in the O2 was the end of a 5-year waiting and the beginnin of a new longing. Every hour since I'm flashing back to this enliving funky and soulfull time ! Beeing back at my job in Austrian mountains, seeing the leafs turn their colour into purple, it all seems like a sweet dream.
Let's keep it going on, live here on (european ) earth !!!
Please come back and dance and sing and play.....

Thanks a million, Prince, for the time of my life on 9 Sept. My one and only main show and aftershow....and what a night!! I knew it was good, but I had no idea how good until I read everyone's comments on here...some songs I knew of course, but several I had never heard before, and now I can't get them out of my head!! Planet Earth has been on in the car and in the kitchen (the kids know all the words already!), and I want to get hold of some more.....can anyone tell me which CD "Adore" is on? Also "Shhh", "Sometimes it snows in April"?

No DVD or Cd can compare to that night....I was rearranged, beamed up, transported and reassembled as a funkier human being ....big hugs & god bless XX

Thank you Prince for some fantastic shows. I had a wonderful time (even if I'm still gutted at not getting tickets for the final aftershow ). Yet again you have shown us that you are the greatest live artist around. Please don't wait another 5 years before returning - there's a new stadium opening in Liverpool soon that will be desperately in need of a good opening show (21 nights in Liverpool would suit me fine! )

Wow what can I say, thank you doesn't cut it! I managed to get to show 12 and aftershow and then the final show . Both were fantastic. The final show I went with my son - who now has more Prince songs on his ipod than I do!! any one else managed to convert someone?

Thank you Prince for coming to London Town making this place funky...I can still smell it....yep....its in the air...

You will be getting a personal letter of thanks from my credit card company. They would be absolutely thrilled to little meat balls if you made your London residency an annual summer event. Something akin to Wimbledon, Henley, Glastonbury, the Harrods sale, etc etc. You get the picture.

4th Aug & 20th Sept.....what times we had.

4th August show was great to see but the sound was dissapointing. After pointing this out to the venue we were lucky enough to get a phone call from AEG Live (promoters).
As a result on the 20th Sept we were put on guest list and my god was it fantastic. Me and the wife danced thru the whole gig (which for me is a first). On cloud 9 all the way back to South East Coast.

Prince.....YOU ARE A MUSICAL GOD.

If you do read these threads,thank you so much Prince.My Mum asked me before I left Ireland for the O2 shows would I like to meet Prince.I had to say no,I really would not know what to say because there simply aren't enough superlatives or words of praise in any language to convey how amazingly talented you are and how your music and performances make me feel.So I would probably just stand there looking stupid!! I often tell people that for me Prince is proof there is a God.You are without doubt,THE most complete and GREATEST musical artist in History.Thanks and thank God for blessing us with you.
