The first show I was at on sat 4th August. It was the first time I'd ever seen him live and right at the start of the show, when the band started playing and he came up through the stage I started to well up. I couldn't believe I was finally going to see him.

I went to 3 O2 shows and 1 aftershow. Although, Prince didn't show at the aftershow, the NPG played an incredible set and I just had to buy tickets to see Maceo there in October.

I'm so jealous that I couldn't get tickets for the final show and aftershow but I am so grateful for the experince I've had over the past month or so. Thankyou to Prince and the NPG.

Aftershow preamble sounded like a soundcheck then morphed into the most sublime piano led intro, curtains open and who should be standing there: Amy Winehouse drenched in soft purple-blue light, then prince casually strolls on. Yep. i cried.

Definately brought a lump to my throat too! Amazing, & how timid & frail she looked & totally in awe of Prince, but what a voice.
I'm sure last nights whole 3 hour aftershow was a dream!

I'm getting more tired and more teary(link I'm sure) but I'm sad too as I hope he does come back or I see him elsewhere as its sad to think theres no one else about on that level of showmanship and talent to see live, when its so good live like that you want to keep going! Especially when you love real live music smile

Hot damn, hundalisiliah. God I'd loved to have seen that!

I was almost sure she wasn't gonna show up anymore. And then, last date, at the aftershow. Dang!

Is that really the last time we will here it live

Anyone else shed a tear?

Please confess all. Purge the emotion!

It's like an CA meeting in here - Hi, my name is Liz and I'm a Cryer. Yes, Cryers Anonymous! LOL.

I was at it too, I confess. For me it was tears shed during Sometimes It Snows in April. What a night. I'm gutted I missed the last 2 songs tho. I've stayed after most have gone each time I've been and yet last night I was just so overwhelmed I went a couple minutes after the lights went up - thus missing When U Were Mine and Girls & Boys. I'm just going to have to get over it but I do feel quite upset this morning! confused

I was far too bust whoohoohoohoo-ing for tears during Purple Rain.

The buggers snuck up on me during the synth set encore though... I think the "this is it" realsation coupled with a nice long version of SOTT and prince looking so happy.

cool

Well, I felt really emotional while driving home the next morning, suddenly the realization of not going to anymore of the O2 concerts hit me, I've loved the whole experience....4 shows 3 aftershows, driving to London, getting to the hotel etc etc...I'll just really miss the whole thing neutral

When he played 'sometimes it snows in april' so melanchonic and sad, it reminded me of an old friend (Rob) who got me into Prince over 20 years ago!! Where has the time gone? Shed a tear at the gig and then again when I logged on to this site and thought about how this might be the last time I see Prince play. The tears start again now, just typing this up sad

Burst into tears last night main show when he did the I would die for u bit .
Unfotunately I never got to hear the Question of U which is one of my faves,,I would have been in all sorts if he'd done that.

Also had a random cry when I was doing the washing up a few days after the aftershow on the 16th.

Were I the kind to cry (and I'm not - just too cold hearted!) I'd have wept tears of joy after that incredible aftershow - to play that well, for that long, and after such a superb main show...

Three times during the aftershow I was choked up with the ole shaky chin thing going on. I just can't believe it's over! What am I going to do now?

Looks like I'm going to have to do some work tomorrow, no more TM and those annoying words.

Could do with a big org hug
oh mama I wish I could resist ...

My god, if Prince asked for the houselight to be turned on at the aftershow, he probably saw half the crowd with red eyes, a runny nose and mascara run down their faces... lol

actually, i think i need to cry, they say that tears hold chemicals similiar to opium, to soothe the pain and loss.

It is not about not seeing Prince play again, it is about the strange bonding amongst Prince fans, from all different walks of life, no class, no creeds, no colours, just wonderful stories and a sharing of something that is a gift to us all, i think it will be the inspiration to finish what I have started

Couldn't have said it better myself Whitnail....I think this was especially the case in the aftershow, as it seemed to be all hardcore Prince fans. The aftershow I went to before there was hardly anyone dancing or singing before the show started, but on Friday the DJ was playing almost exclusively Prince and the crowd were loving it. When he dropped Chelsea Rogers and 1999 about 1:00 the place was rocking and in full voice.

You're right though, that aftershow seemed to create un unspoken bond between everyone there, and the meet before the concert with all the Orger as well. Didn't matter where you came from, what you did for a living, what colour you were, how you dressed...nothing. All that mattered was that we were Prince fans. Even better than that was the feeling in the aftershow. I've never known a gig where the performers on stage were part of us...there was no "us and them" affect, we were all (the audience, the band, Prince) one being, all enjoying the moment equally. I don't think I'll ever experience that again with such a legendary performer.
