SWAP - Keyboard sampler for Acoustic Guitar set: VOTE NOW! Having seen Prince do the sampler thing a few times now, and while I appreciate it's in the spirit of a party, who'd prefer the intimacy of a closing acoustic guitar set?
Having been one of the privileged few to have seen a full acoustic set at Paisley Park one summer night, I'd have to say it's one of my musical highlights and will live long in the memory - I only wish that it had been released as a CD or even a DVD. VOTE NOW BY REPLYING - Acoustic or Keyboard Sampler! T Ps I don't think Prince does read these message boards by the way but the proof will be in the pudding if we see an acoustic guitar being placed onstage on the last night. ;o)

I was lucky enough to see him do an acoustic set on the ONA tour - and it was fantastic.
I like that he's doign somethign different. The question is - what would you choose between an actual piano set - i.e lovesexy era, or an acoustic set "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

I think this tour lends itself well to an acoustic set, it's a big show...but is in the round and still manages to create an intimate atmosphere.
I actually thought - before the o2 'tour' was underway - that Prince would play intermittently with Wendy Melvoin, or on his own. Come on let's get the support for an acoustic set going... After all on Aug 1st on the opening night, he was pretty much going solo on guitar with the final encore of Little Red Corvette and Raspberry Beret.(which I thought was an excellent moment) T

I only caught the acoustic guitar set once on 4th August. It was great, and after so many shows sometimes the synth sampler got a bit old. Only the last few shows have turned that around with more varied tunes being included. I really need to appreciate that most people were only going to just the one show.
I can't decide what I'd prefer. Obviously I'd have both and just cut out Purple Rain, but that would never happen.

He did an acoustic segment the last time he was in Boston. Its definately something to be seen. I was hoping for it when I was at the O2.

Saw an acoustic set on the 10th and it was really special - but the piano set on the 12th was just so insanely perfect...something in the water...how come you don't call me anymore...nearly blew my bejeesus mind that did...
So if we are talking main shows, I have to say the piano set. If we are talking encore, the sampler set wins for me HANDS DOWN EVERY TIME...what a vibe with the lights up and intimate crowd...ahh roll on Firday Love isn't love until it's passed

Acoustic guitar - in fact I've been thinking for some time now that the ideal aftershow would be an unplugged style acoustic 1 hour set. That would be something different.

"Don't ever looooose your dreeeeeaaaaams...yeah!" in the words of a (not so) famous tune - All My Dreams anyone ever heard of that? ;o)
O.k. back to the point - I'm not saying lose the piano set, far from it my baby called me from the o2 last night and I heard I Would Die 4 U coming through the crackling connection...and I could still feel how soulful that solo performance was!!! No the point is that the sampler set is just Prince mucking around being a DJ with his own samples, fair enough I enjoyed it first time round (who didn't?)...he can do that in the studio or at home for fun. I'm not knocking that I just feel like he could melt hearts and create an incredibly memorable ending to the show by playing the acoustic guitar. I saw it at Paisley Park, and it's one of the strongest memories I have of any Prince show I ever saw...very intimate, great nusically and a whole lot of fun for all involved. Whatever happens on the last night, whether we have special guests onstage, or no aftershow (and I mean this even although I have a ticket btw) I could never claim that Prince has sold me short - on this tour, or ever for that matter. ...and I say that having once gone to Paisley Park for a week and he never played once! LOL If it ever stops being about the music I'll tune out, but the amazing thing is he's always been true to it, hence his longevity when other stars or so called legends have faded away. - And all that said, come on guys back me up on the acoustic guitar set, the o2 stage is crying out for it...he played a few tracks at one of the London Hammersmith shows 4 or 5 years back, which was fantastic as well...telemarketer blues and various other tracks. U know it makes (musical) sense! T

I want to have my cake and eat it. Keep the sampler in the main show and play an acoustic guitar set at the aftershow on the 20th. RIP

You're a greedy man EnglishGent! heheheheh...
I'd like to see an acoustic set in either main arena or Indigo2...curiously I think it might work better in the arena, as the crowd in the Indigo are normally pretty drunk, tired or just plain rowdy! Fair enough... So either/or I say - would be great if it happened on the last night, although maybe it's me being greedy as I sort of saw an acoustic show on the first night with his final encore... I got to say, I'm digging the sampler. It really gets the crowd going. His guitar playing is a privilege to watch but I'm very satisfied with the electric guitar at these shows. The snippets make people crazy and I love to see him tease people.
