21st Dilema...

Good people of London.....Jarvis seeks your advice.

I'm coming down for the concert on Friday, and as I need to be back in Edinburgh by lunchtime on Saturday, am taking the 5.25 train home from Kings Cross. All told, I'll be in london for 12 hours.

Here's the dilema. What do I do for 5 hours between the main gig finishing and leaving on a jet train??

Hotel?? £75 for 3 hours shelter.....I think not
Aftershow?? Ebay prices don't appeal
Other?? You tell me!

Thankyou in anticipation

Hmmm - well don't give up on the aftershow till the bitter end, eh? You never know. But if it's clearly not a goer, maybe go to a club? Get a copy of Time Out when it comes out on Wednesday and see what's on. Or the Tinseltown diner in Clerkenwell opens 24 hour and is OK if you don't feel like loud music. Or if you're tired, you could stay somewhere cheap like Ashlee House or the Generator in KX. Top Tip - the youth hostel in KX is excellent, clean, cheap and right opposite the station...

Hopefully that might be the case. Considering touts are even trawling the org for spares, I probably wouldn't get rid of mine until the concert had practically started to avoid that kinda thing!

Fingers crossed!

Agreed.

I'll be the 6'2 Scotsman outside o2 with the sandwich board proclaiming "Sexual favours for aftershow tickets".

The way I see it, it's WIN WIN for old Jarvis!! biggrin

dear dilema girl
when we went to the gig we stayed at the youth hostel in rotherhithe. its very close and they have tiny clean basic rooms for 20-odd pounds. u may have to check in b4 the gig, but its only a couple stops on the tube from 02 and a £10 taxi ride. if i was working the next day i would want a shower and a little lie down! after all that awesome excitement. also want to aggree with the other orger, dont give up on the aftershow! it will be incredible, ive been to one already and if u have the money, trust me, spend it. how can u put a value on a memory that fine?!

Hi,

I stayed at the same hostel in Rotherhithe on the 3rd August and it was fine. Very clean, well run and friendly. Although our taxi was £ 19, not £ 10, but that was at 4am after the Dr. John aftershow nightmare.

I went again on the 24th and the aftershow was brilliant. It was priceless to be honest and I am trying to get tickets for this Friday for the main and aftershow at something like a reasonable price.

I agree with the earlier comment; you can;t put a price on it.

Any spares? Please?!!!

I'll certainly be keeping my eye out for tickets before the main show. I should be at the arena for about 6pm-ish for something to eat, so hopefully I'll get lucky.

An aftershow would just put the icing on the cake for me.

With the time constraint, I wouldn't bother if I was a tout! We're all doing day of the gig ticket exchanges at the box office an hour before the show. That's not much time to buy the ticket and scalp it outside the venue. I haven't even seen touts at the O2, as it happens. 21 dates means most can get a ticket if they want one.

i thought the first train from kings cross to edinburgh was 6.15am - a 4.5 hour trip. the tube station at north greenwhich/the o2 opens at something like 5.08am. it's about 30-40mins by tube during the day when it's busy (victoria line to london bridge and then northern line to kings cross), so getting the first tube will get you to kings cross in plenty of time

the afterparty should end at about 3am approx, allowing 30 mins at least to say goodbyes etc, thats 3.30am, then there is the burger van thing just outside the bus station on millenium way, so you can kill another good 30 mins there, there will still be a few people knocking around, so at worst it's an hour wait at the north greenwhich tube station waiting on it to open

if u keep checking tm and ask at the o2 u should be about to get an aftershow ticket. hotels are pretty expensive that nite. if u dont get in the aftershow, just hang around outside the indigo2 anyways to kill time

btw, i'm aiming to get the first train back too, so if you are on your own, pm me your mobile number if you want company on the way back

I'm getting the 5.25 that goes via Preston. Nice and handy, I know, but I just booked the earliest one I could.
