17 Sept: Mike Phillips, NPG hornz, Beverly Knight @ Pigalle Club Wow. What a show! Final of 4 nights for Mike at the Pigalle Club and boy did he live it up. Joined by the NPG hornz, with Greg really having a good time. Lots of funky stuff. Mike at one point talking about the 21 nights, the influence of Prince.....
Later Beverly Knight gets on stage and acknowledges Prince's influence..."ever since I was 9...." !!! She stays, sings and the place goes into overdrive. Very funky music, finishing up with around 20 folk on stage belting out some great beats. What a night! Sooo.... where's tonight's party ?????!

I was there last night - have to say the band were AMAZING!!! Met a few of the band members and chatted to them. Mike is such a cool friendly guy! Chatted to Beverley Knight before she went home - seemed like she had the time of her life just as every1 else did!
Also Daniel Bedingfield was up on stage 4 a bit singing and doing a bit of beatboxing! Nah Prince wasnt there last night. Spoke to Mike who said he was coming down, and he also later hinted to the audience that he'd be there, but was a no-show. Never mind, coz Mike and co (Greg Boyer and Lee Hogans) tore the place down!! DJ even played a few Prince tracks afterwards, which got every1 up on their feet - cant believe i was dancing to 'Head' in a club!! Loved it! EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE, AMAZING NIGHT "Why, you selfish son-of-a-biscuit-eater!"

Cool, I needed to chill last night but did go last Monday
Great to hear Bev was on stage, she was brilliant at the Indigo so must have really lit up the tiny stage at Pigalle The DJ played some Prince tunes at the end last week too, including Soft and Wet [Edited 9/18/07 2:53am]

I think Bev was suprised as anyone that she was up on stage - she said afterwards she didnt know she was gona go on stage. Was a bit spontaneous! But she performed brilliantly. Even Mike was loving it, and seemed really impressed! Bev covered I wanna b ur lover - sounded great!
Yeah it was really good to hear Prince tunes being played in a club! Many chants of Mike: "can he/she kick it?", Crowd: "yes he/she can!!" Good lively crowd. Mike got every1 doing the 'lean wit it, rock wit it' dance - was so cool to see the whole crowd in unison with him! [Edited 9/18/07 3:46am] "Why, you selfish son-of-a-biscuit-eater!"

A true aftershow vibe and a great little venue I thought

It was a wonderful show, great atmosphere and vibe. The whole band was great even though it felt very improvisational with Mike and Greg giving everyone some obvious cues. Some real funk was in the house last night!
