THE MATCHING TICKETS UP TO GOOD HOMES THREAD (updated) *****
***** UPDATE Just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who provided spare tickets for main show and aftershow tonight. Without your kind help this idea would have been a bit pointless. So thank you for that. And apologies to those who weren't able to get tickets. I think we did pretty good on the main show, but the aftershow was always going to be a tough one. For what it's worth I contacted TicketMaster earlier this week, with a plea to ring fence a proportion of any returns that might come in for the shows, explaining what we were doing here. It didn't help. Personally I would also love to know how Viagogo got tickets. They are supposed to be from other people reselling tickets, but I also had a chat with them and from my conversation I'm convinced there was one major "seller" on Viagogo. Which sort of defeats the whole purpose of the thing. Anyway, I'm glad some people got sorted and had a good time. I'd love to say it all went smoothly and was a piece of cake. I'd love to. But to be honest, I didn't really realise what I was letting myself in for But when all is said and done, glad I did. Will post more after I sleep. Colin [Edited 9/21/07 22:52pm]

Very honourable idea, and very selfless on your part. I hope you get a ticket too somehow!
Do you mean that we have to email you at 1am (from the UK)? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question - it's been a long day... "Well, maybe not the ride..."

Sounds like a plan to me. Saves people posting seperate threads (mostly with no replies! - I am guilty of this).
One small snag - the 10am (UK time presumably) deadline basically rules out anyone who doesn't work at a computer - me for instance! Nothing Compares 2 Ewe

Ooops, misread it as 1am Tuesday. 11am is better "Well, maybe not the ride..."

Think because UK is currently on British Summertime that we're actually GMT +1 until late October... "Well, maybe not the ride..."

Do you mean that we have to email you at 1am (from the UK)? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question - it's been a long day... It's not a dumb question...it was dumb on my part! For general info... Without thinking that everyone would have to stay up really late to email I've now changed the time. So I'll only add names to the list if I receive the email AFTER 11am UK time on Tuesday. The list will be published a couple of hours later then updated every 12 hours or so. If you're not going to be able to get to a computer at that time I'll take names beforehand, but only one per orgnote as for main request. Then based on the number of people who email, I'll work out random slots to add these names into. So, depending on how many people want to sign up, I might add a random slot every fourth or fifth slot on the list for people who couldn't email after the time on Tuesday and have done so beforehand. Phew, does that make sense?

Thanks. I've been lucky enough to get to three main shows, four aftershows (including last night and 28th) with another on Thursday coming up, so have been pretty lucky with what I've seen so far. Missing out on 21st will be sad, but I've got some pretty good memories anyway.
I've been lucky with tickets of late at the o2 and have one outside chance of getting a ticket from elsewhere (which is looking doubtful). Given how difficult it is to get tickets, I figured this would save a lot of people a lot of time. If something's for you, it will find you. Or that's what I'm telling myself!

You're a star mate! Those of us who are ticketless really appreciate what you're doing! The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it

Otherwise anyone who emails before then (because they won't be at computer, etc) will be drawn randomly to fill slots determined (I hope based on a calculation I'm trying to do) on numbers applying. And yes, for this to work we need anyone with spares to get involved and let me know so if anyone sees anyone posting spares point them in this direction. If you got any that would be great. Hopefully this means if anyone does see tickets for sale they can buy the max amount - bank account willing - and know they'll be passed on to orgers. Obviously, they don't have to go through this system, just hoping it distributes tickets to as many people as possible.

I've been thinking that we should probably start a list of people looking for tickets for 21st main show and aftershow. That way if someone has spares, they can check the list and orgnote me. Obviously ticket selling rules would all apply, and it would need someone to co-ordinate it (which I'm happy to try to do). To spread the love, I think you should indicate your preference, main show or aftershow. If there's enough to go around for both well and good, but wouldn't it be better if more people get to see one part of the night than fewer seeing both? Would involve you orgnoting me to give me your name/email address and a mobile or telephone number and then I'll add your name to this list. I'd say at this stage that perhaps it should be a one name/one ticket limit, that is you can't say 'I'm looking for four'. Think it would be fairer if you can only get one for yourself, although you can offer more than one ticket if you have more than one spare. The preference means that if there are enough tickets then obviously you can have a main show and aftershow, just not more than one of each. To avoid howls of unfairness the matching up would be done on this basis; I'll set a starting time - 10am GMT (11am for those in UK) Tuesday at which point you all orgnote with your wants, and I'll start creating the list. FOR FAIRNESS DO NOT ORGNOTE BEFORE THEN IF YOU WANT ON THE LIST. The time gives everyone a reasonably equal chance to be first on the list. It'll be a first come, first served basis. And as much as it pains me to do this, I'll not put my name down for either. If by some miracle there are more spares than wants, then I'm ok. If not, I'll cry in the corner. But think this is probably the only way it can be done in any fair way. I took part in a similar list to get tickets to a cup final and while not everyone got sorted, quite a few did. Seems to make a little more sense than everyone orgnoting any poor soul who posts with a spare and might at least give everyone an idea how their chances are looking. Obviously mates will sort out mates before orgnoting me, but this allows those who don't really know anyone on here a chance to get a ticket. Once you were matched up to a ticket(s) then I'll pass on the details to the relevant parties and they can sort out the exchange. I'm hoping to be off work Friday and at the aftershow on Thursday so can help out with that too if needed, and offering to be available on the phone on Friday for last minute availabilty. This also means that if anyone finds tickets on TM at last minute they can buy extra knowing there'll be people to match up to tickets so you're not out of pocket. Should I find any on TM I'll be buying as many as possible for this reason. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. I'm sure there might be a flaw or two that I haven't thought of and needs ironed out, but hopefully some of you will be up for it. Should just add that might need to put some sort of restriction to try to prevent touts, but hoping the five day rule might stop that. So, to recap; 1. Orgnote me if you have spare tickets for 21st main show or aftershow. I'll attempt to match you up to people who want tickets based on a first come first on the list basis. 2. Orgnote me AFTER 11am Tuesday 18 September if you want a ticket, stating if you want a main show ticket or an aftershow ticket. You can ask for both but put which you prefer. Only ONE ticket request per person. So you CAN ask for a ticket for main show and aftershow (two tickets in total) but only for you. If your friends want tickets then get them to orgnote me too. Mention you're together and if possible if there are enought tickets I'll try to get seats together for friends (how hopeful am I? lol) 3. If you can't email at 11am, then I will accept orgnotes before then. But you will then go in a draw for random slots spaced equally through the main list. Colin [Edited 9/17/07 11:28am] [Edited 9/17/07 11:35am] [Edited 9/17/07 12:23pm] [Edited 9/17/07 13:51pm] 1 of each would be great, but the aftershow ticket is more important
