When does the afterparty end? Help, please...

Can anybody help me out there? I am attending the concert + aftershow on the 20th. Since I'm not from London (or UK) I am wondering what time the nightclubs and places usually close. Also, is it easy to get around London by night? What would a taxi ride to fx. Kings Cross cost??

Thanks!

They usually end between 2 to 3am
You can order a taxi after either show, or get the Thames Clipper (boat) right outside the O2 to London Bridge or Waterloo - about £4 or cheaper with a valid travel card
I guess a taxi would cost about £20 to KingsX

I really think the boat is the best bet to get to central London at 3am. It leaves every half hour, stops at London Bridge and Waterloo and it's 2mins walk from the O2/Indigo, last one leaves 4am. There is only one bus that goes central (the 188, is it?) and it takes at least 45 mins to get to Waterloo.

From Waterloo pier (underneath the London Eye aka the Wheel) you can cross the river via the footbridge (5mins) walk straight on in the same direction to Trafalgar Square (<5mins) and catch a night bus to anywhere in the whole city. Or catch a taxi from there, there should be a few and it'll only cost you £10 or so to Kings Cross. From the dome (sorry, the O2) a taxi will cost you more like £30, a lot even for a Londoner. And you'll have to fight for it. Alternatively pre-book a minicab from Addison Lee (a reliable company).
Have Fun!

I have the same problem, I'm going to the main and aftershow on the 20th and need to get back to Victoria for a 7am coach. My plan is to get the Clipper back to the Waterloo stop and get a taxi from there to Victoria.

Does anybdy know if it is relatively easy to get a taxi from the Clipper Waterloo stop?

If your coach is not until 7am, then hanging around at Waterloo (after taking the wonderful Thames Clipper there) and getting a tube to Victoria is gonna be a lot cheaper than a taxi, in my estimation.

I've done the same a couple of times now when I have been travelling back on the first coach of the day. You could easily get to Victoria well before 7am without having to shell out on a taxi.

I've only hung around after two shows as I normally just leg it. But for the two where I did hang around the staff kicked us out at 3am. Like the others say, the best bet is then the clipper and hang at Waterloo. There's bound to be a few other orgers doing the same.

That sounds like a better plan, I just didn't fancy lurking round the London Eye by myself at 4am!

If the coach doesnt leave till 7am i would just walk to Victoria. Its not that far. (maybe 2 miles max) from waterloo just cross to westminster... up the mall to buck palace and victoria is just behind that.

Victoria is not at all far from Waterloo. I live in Pimlico (technically a little further) and I walk from Waterloo everytime. Takes me 15mins but I walk fast (dance home, more like smile )
The really great thing is that you get a beautiful walk past Parliament and even Buckingham Palace!
Okay, seeing as I've anointed myself the London sign-post: The clipper drops you right next to Westminster bridge, under the Eye and opposite the Houses of Parliament. The most direct route is to go down Victoria street from Parliament square, but it's pretty ugly (scotland yard, ugh). Instead as you cross Westminster bridge (the one next to Big Ben) continue walking straight in exactly the same direction, you'll enter St James Park, keep on walking straight and you'll go past the palace, then Victoria (railway) Station then the Coach station a little further on.
Total walking time I estimate at 30-40 mins at a very leisurly pace, but it'll be very pleasant one, and as you can see it's one big straight line, plus it's super-safe since this is the heart of government and there are police everywhere.

I did think about doing that originally but as I'm not really familiar with the area I wasn't sure how safe the walk would be at that time in the morning.

I'm sure there will be other fans to lurk about with. I'm gonna be staying just outside the city for the 20th and 21st (as I did with some of the earlier shows), but I might well be doing the first-tube-of-day plan rather than spalsh cash on a taxi for the sake of an hour or two... if so will be lurking about myself. cool

I've thought about this the last couple of times I've been up, but wasn't sure of the route and figured that chillin' at Waterloo for a bit was better than potentially getting lost in London in the dark. Plus my feet were achey enough already from all the dancing. It seems the NPG have had it in for my feet this summer!!!
