Dear Prince

Yesterday we received the sad new that my cousin, aged 44, drowned. This is of course an enormous shock to our family.

His father, my uncle aged 84, just called me, insisting that I should attend the Prince concert on the 16th.I would be back in time for the funeral in Amsterdam on Tuesday morning, and he wants me to celebrate life to the max - and only shed my tears during the guitar play in Purple Rain.

So please Prince - if you read this - I will funk the whole concert and the aftershow, but please make me cry out loud by giving the best Purple guitar solo ever.

Thank u,

Miranda
I love Prince and chocolate - in that order

You are blessed with an uncle of great wisdom,
I am sad for your loss, in times like these i fill my self with gratitude for knowing the person in the first place. For how they brought me joy and love, until i realise that though their loss is sad, to not have known them in the first place would have been the greater sadness. And then, strangely, i feel blessed.

the guitar solo on purple rain encapsulates this in a sound that resonates with the heart, you could not have picked a better place to let it all out..

Such awful news, our thoughts are with you. Will be there Sunday with sis and we'll think of you - and all the people out there for whom Purple Rain probably means a whole lot more to them personally, than just another song. It always reduces me to tears anyway.

Thank you everybody for your kinds words - knowning people care, even if they don't know you, helps.

And apart from the grief I currently feel - I couldn't have anything better to look forward to than a Prince concert. I don't have the best seats maybe (block 110, row H, seats 315 and 316 and standing at the back of the Indigo), but just being there, seeing him and feeling the music through my veins is something incredibly good - I'm not sure if anybody can beat me in enjoying myself!

THANKS,

Miranda

Very sorry to hear the sad news. I can imagine how you will feel as I personally have a very strong association between a Prince song (Sometimes It Snows In April) and the death of my best friend 2 years ago (we always listened to that song together...). I'll be thinking of you during Purple Rain.

By the way those are great seats! I sat pretty much there on August 7, and it's an excellent compromise bewteen seing the whole stage and being close enough.

My brother and I were also thinking of you last night during Purple Rain, and he played a blinding version last night with fantastic crowd participation, almost brought a lump to my throat. I noticed last night that a few other wishes noted here at the .org were granted last night, notably Adore and Gotta whole Lotta love
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
