PLEASE READ - 1 Ticket Required!

Hi Purple people.

I have a heartfelt request to share. I have never seen Prince perform live (ever!) and it seems my chances of doing so at the O2 are rapidly running out.

I've only recently got back to London from a job that took me away for the Summer only to hear from friends who had been to O2 gigs already how fantastic he was and it seriously grabbed my imagination. Since then I've been scouring eBay and checking TM with no luck. Frankly I can't afford to pay over face value for a ticket; it's a luxury to even consider splashing out to go at all, so eBay has gotten increasingly impossible (anyone else see the ridiculous £3000.00 Buy in now for the 21st? eek ) But... I think about what my friends said, and I've been listening to the albums again.... and now I just have to go.

Purple Rain was my favourite album when I was at school, me and my best friend used to sing "Let's Go Crazy" at each other all the time.... you know the one... Dr. Everythin'll be alright.... I suppose you could say I've been a Prince fan for a long time (I'm now 30) and I'll kick myself if I lost the opportunity to see him performing when he is so clearly at the absolute peak of his live performance (and judging from the set-lists performing all the songs I would love to hear him play).

I'm a brand new member of this forum and have been sitting on my hands waiting a very long and painful five days to be allowed to post and orgnote, and I've watched so many ticket offers going by that I would have jumped at the chance to take up. I was in the running for Holyriver's offer which was due to end tonight but it got pulled, and I missed the last minute offers unsure of the outcome of that situation...

So, that's my story. All I ask is for anyone who has read this to bear me in mind if they suddenly have a decent spare ticket for the two remaining shows and are going to post their availability on the forum. I would be massively grateful.

Thank you! Dom. smile

Not wanting to be heartless, but couldn't you have gone tonight?
Or there are aftershow tickets for tonight still for sale on TM.

I don't want to sound judgmental here but if you were a long time Prince fan you would have seen him live by now (he's been quite a few times since Purple rain).

Sounds to me more like you liked Purple Rain, have heard how good the gigs have been, and quite fancy going without paying ebay prices. This is fair enough of course, but why don't you just buy tickets from ticketmaster (they have released tickets for every gig on the day)? If you've been hanging round on this site, you would know this and would have got yourself some great seats right by the stage.

Check out ticketmaster on thursday, put some effort in like the rest of us, and you shall go to the ball and dance with your Prince.

If anyone does have any spare tix for the last night, I hope they give them to someone whose love of P's music goes beyond the opening lines to Let's Go Crazy

Your compassion and comradeship is overwhelming vivid.

To answer some of your points and to clarify - I own all of Prince's albums from 1999 to the Symbol album, so your jibe about the opening lines to Lets Go Crazy is slightly wide of the mark and also pretty rude. Also I don't hold down a regular 9-5 job - I get paid to perform on stage, so when I do have money it tends to mean I don't have my evenings free to go to many gigs. And yes, I've heard great things about these concerts - in fact it's the only time I've had friends recommend I go to a gig, so that's obviously going to make a difference.

As I said in my post ebay prices have been ridiculous, and I can't sit all day checking TM. I have been looking in there a few times a day, but I've also been reading the posts and comments from people attempting to do the same sitting there all day long and having no luck at all, so that's slightly off putting. If it were that easy I wouldn't have posted this thread, and I'm not a lazy person. However I have noted several people a day offering tickets for face value to interested parties that tend to get snapped up within the hour - I'm stating my interest in one of those tickets in advance - is that not a valid thing to do in your estimation?

Anyway. Thank you MegCraig for your support, and 1p1p1i3 for your comment. I'm obviously not going to thank you Vivid for your contribution, but I doubt you care that much.

Despite your wish not to sound judgemental, I am afraid you do.
Being a Prince fan is not a competition between us as to who is most committed or fanatical. We all love him and his music, and not everyone is as die hard, has the entire back catalogue, collections of programmes and A/S stories to tell. Nor does everyone have the inclination, time or money to do what many have had to do to get to multiple gigs.

It is also interesting what people are prepared to say in the relatively anonymous forum environment. It is one things to hold back from giving trust without knowing someone, but another entirely to openly voice suspicion, distrust and derision of their motives without knowing them.

If you have tickets to sell, vivid, it is of course your choice whom you sell them to, but that is also the case with everyone else on this forum, and I don't think you have a right to be the gatekeeper of whatever chance Dom may have of being offered a ticket on here by judging him less worthy than others.
