16th September Show & Aftershow

Prince delivering another top night, no thanks to most of the crowd in the O2 who seemed to be half asleep, texting, sitting down, or talking... Was down in C2, and apart from a guy and his brother next to us, the crowd was so dull. Could hear the odd pocket of people going crazy in the mid tiers (thank you, I think you saved the night), but the floor crowd around me were really bad. eek

Did anyone see Prince yawn at the people down in the Stage suites?! I'm sure he also said something about people being asleep??

Got three verses of SOTT, all of Adore, musical intro to Darling Nikki (whilst Prince as wagging his finger and shaking his head at the crowd!), Controversy was played really early which was cool. Somewhere Here on Earth... I'm sure a set list will materialise.. The show finished at 10.30, Prince did Nothing Compares 2 U and the Keyboard set as encores. The crowd woke up about ten minutes before the end...

After that, was actually pretty worried Prince wouldn't do the aftershow...But, he came on after what felt like ages, and four scuffles later....

The Aftershow was awesome, it was a real party. Compared to the one on 1st, which was Prince really workng the guitar, this was him and the band having a great time. Started with Thank you for lettin' me be myself again, 3121/DMSR alternate verses - brilliantly good), Delirious, Girls & Boys, hilarious bloues numbers. Similary to The Rules, but other stories... a poignant one about how 'I used to be like you', but now things are different, people wanna take his picture, he can't walk down the street anymore 'cos people put cameras in his face (during which people in the crowd were still trying to take pictures eek )), which became a really funny jam about his cross-eyed girlfriend with three hands..., he sang that beautiful version of Gotta Broken Heart Again (god I hope that makes it to a live album), Lolita, Everyday People (finishing with Prince Marva, and Shelby up in King's Row)... can't remember what else, but a really special night. He said over and over 'thank you London' in both shows. The man's had a god time, eh?
