Are You Sexy Enough To Get Onstage With Prince?

My self esteem reached a new low at Thursday's Aftershow...No, I wasn't the person who, when P asked them to turn around, referred to as 'sitting on a bag of groceries'...ouch. No, I was getting on down, as twere, at bottom of steps on left as you look at stage, Prince comes across & makes a general plea for 'some sexy people' to get onstage & dance. My immediate response? To cower like a twerp because I couldn't possibly be sexy enough to get up there even though I had unobstructed access. I kept thinking 'I've got my jumper tied around my waist with my handbag looped through it & I've probably got sweaty armpits- that's not sexy'. Of course, when I saw who clambered past me onto the stage, I no longer felt quite so unsexy.I ended up with one leg cocked halfway up stairs, kinda almost sexy.

I had to laugh at myself- next time he should make a plea for 'All the people with a poor self image! Get onstage!'. I'll def be up there. Are you sexy enough?

I think if I'd been in a postion to get up on stage I would have been very wary too. it's a normal human reaction.

Big LOL to that, I felt the same. Nearly got up but I kept saying to myself "what will I do with my jacket?" - like you, looped around my bag. Why do I worry about the stupidest things when I can just slam them down? Oh, that and the fact that I was pretending to sing along with songs because I have no voice at the moment, just a faint whisper. I pray it's better for tomorrow.

If you insist, I've got some lovely holiday snaps from a long weekend in Clacton? No? I'm afraid I was too busy having a life enhancing experience to take any photos..

That made me laugh!! Did he really get people up on stage? I wondered if he was going to do that at any aftershows. I ve always thought id love to get on stage but think would have hair stuck to face, mascara half way down cheeks and start doing some kind of dad dance shuffle on stage. Not sexy. Unless id drunk a lot of wine... and then I think I can dance like cat...

I know! I then started imagining, 'what if I had got onstage, I could've unhooked the jumper & dumped bag on floor'- I then had horrid visions of Prince catching his foot in my stray strap and toppling to the floor, breaking his nose, cancelling rest of gigs etc etc . Probably best I didn't get up there...!

I'm not too sure if she is an orger or not, but the girl with the pink top who was dancing on stage-left was beaming with happiness - I have never seen anyone look so happy before!

Quite- I know it's probably pretty intimidating up there but I agree- whatever I might lack in Prince's definition of sexiness, i can get dahn & funky with the best.

I don't remember him saying anything about sexy people, all I remember is that he asked who wanted to dance. As for the people who got picked, as far as I know, they had volunteered, and I don't think anyone with a low self-esteem would do such a thing... As for sexyness, westv is right, it is a very relative value that usually comes from within, not a stereotyped criteria... But they all looked fine anyway and they seemed to enjoy themselves (ok, ok, I was amongst them, so I can't really judge myself in terms of sexiness but I was quite happy up there!), I am not sure what you mean though, your sexiness criteria must be very high. I guess people who are hard judges must themselves feel like others are looking at them in the same way.

Having said that, your thread was quite funny... smile

It might have been those voices in my head telling me- yes, yes, ultimately I have absolutely no illusions that I could've got up there & all the more power to you for doing it- what a wonderful memory! As for me, I've had over (gulp) twenty years of getting more than my wildest dreams as far as Prince is concerned. I only post this as a self deprecating footnote to a fantastic, mind blowing experience so far...

Errrrr, ALMOST, heh heh heh. At the Saturday 18th Aug show, I was B1 front row and when it came to people being invited on stage Marv came out to where I was to herd people up. It was between me and someone else, so I threw some shapes at her and won out (it was like being in a dead heat at a talent contest, LOL). However, by the time I got to the bottom of the steps too many people had come from the other side (D2, etc.) and I was not allowed on stage by security. I was sooooo pissed!! LOL

I think self-perception of sexiness comes from within, it is not how you look so much, but how your feel inside. There was this gorgeous, curvy-lithe Asian chick (I have a thing for Asian women, ha ha ha ha), in the Stage Suite seating in front of B1 that night. I was watching her (and drooling shamelessly), but was continually amazed at how unable she was to gyrate or move her body without looking like the Tin Man from the Wizard Oz before he was lubed-up. One of the best natural, non-professional dancers I have ever seen was years ago at a club somewhere. This woman was like 18 stone and no oil painting (Miawwwww, OUCH), but mannnnn she moved like she was sex personified and simply radiated rhythmic dexterity.

Anyway that is my tupence worth.....

Yes. I would love to be dancing with the twins. I wasn't able to get on the stage for the main show, security said no sad And every time fans get up there I'm gutted, and at 13th aftershow, I was up in the balcony, otherwise I would've been up there, trust me. razz

Aaaw! But you know what, it makes a much more entertaining anecdote- I'm afraid I had a laugh at your 'Dance Off' moment- hilarious. Adrenalin is an amazing drug. Very true about sexy dancer vs sexy chick- obviously when someone is hot and can dance, well, just sit back & enjoy!
