Join McD's 'Planet Earth CDs for Africa' campaign!

Guys, I got to thinking, after that glowstick idea went stratospheric, and blow me if I haven't just come up with the single greatest idea since the toaster...

If this Concert forum has proved 1 thing, it's that loads of us went to several shows. Ergo, we have a pile of unneeded Planet Earth CDs at home. Let's do the right thing. Let's send them to Africa!

I'll start it off with my 10 unneeded Planet Earth CDs, all sealed (not that it matters - it aint a collectors market out there). All donations will be gratefully received and I'm sure we can impress / shame Prince into loading in like he did with the glowsticks and donating all spare copies he has lying around.

It's our chance to give something back. To give the gift of music. Good music. There are only types of folk - let's be the ones who give!

Disclaimers

1. I haven't worked out the logistics of getting these CDs to Africa. I'm hoping Prince's people will sort that out for me. But rest assured I will send your CDs to where they are needed the most. And within half an hour of their arrival, the CDs will have passed through their less-priveliged owner's Macs and onto their little ipods.

2. I appreciate that some of the musical sentiments contained within the CD may give them false hope. Sadly the world still acknowledges place of birth and claim to any land. The music may inspire them to hard work over 15 long years to educate themselves and be ready to work their butts off in the land of plenty. Only to find they can't legally get in and their best hope was 15 years ago when they were still young and cute enough to get adopted by a rock star. Let's also hope that they don't get swayed by the pacifism of the closing track, and believe that the Western Powers share any of Prince's beliefs, or that he'll have more success in passing these to others than he had with vegetarianism or witnessing Jehovah. Let's not worry about any of this shit right now.

3. Some Orgers have been to more shows than me and will have more than 10 CDs to donate. That's great, I'm very proud of you, but don't start posting about your wad on here, like you're the main donator or anything like that. I'm the Big Kahuna here, it's my idea. Respect that, that's all I'm asking. When this makes the BBC website or 3121.com, it better be my name in lights, not yours!

Let's do this thing, my brothers and sisters. Let's show the world we care.

Who's with me?

The last time we tried to organise something on the org, the powers that be took it as their own and we ended up with glowstick carnage at the O2.

When the poor starving Africans find they have no CD player to play them on, and they can't eat them, then what they going to do? That's right, they're going to start throwing them at each other. It will take just one but before you know it, there will be full scale CD frisbee wars.
RIP sad

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Or, alternatively, you could donate the £10 you would have spent buying the CD to a charity that helps people in the developing world.

I work for an African oil Barron (who is also a chicken farmer)!
So distribution is no problem.

Many have CD players & those without would soon borrow without consent, however due frequent power outages we had better supply batteries too.

Those who just cannot source CD players are gainfully employed in internet fraud & would sell the CD back to Woolworths who are furiously trying to import from Japan.

Either way its a win win situation for them all!
Without restraint, there’d be no hesitation!
