Oooo, you were chosen to go on stage - I was hoping some of you cool cats would post on here! Did Prince choose you himself?? Do tell us more!

Well, it must have been around 2:40am. Prince walked up to the left of the stage, looked over us and said:"Who wants to dance?!". Before I could even volunteer, I saw a girl (wearing a black strapless jersey dress) being helped through the crowd and pulled onto the stage. I wished it had been me. But I was happy for her somehow. Whilst I was thinking that, I realised that Prince was still there, still looking over us. He was obviously looking for more volunteers. I was wondering whether to go or not.

What I didn't know then (because I was quite close to the front, but my friend who was further back told me afterwards) is that there were lots of other people reaching out to Prince in order to be chosen. But from where I was, it looked like no one else had volunteered so I held up my arms towards him to signal that I was interested. Prince immediately waved his hands at me as if to say:"Go on then!" and he reached out his hands. First I checked to make sure it was me he was waving to (you never know!), and it was! So I climbed onto the stairs (from the sides - as I wasn't quite in front of them) Prince's hands were to far to reach so the security man grasped my right hand, as I got a bit higher, Prince then took the left one and guided me onto the stage whilst holding my hand inside both his hands.

Next, he selected a very tall guy with glasses. Shelby J. picked 3 girls on the right side of the stage (one had curly hair and was wearing a bright blue dress, the other a bubble gum pink top, and I can't remember the third one). I was wearing white jeans and a purple/white/green zebra print dress btw. We all danced for about 10/15 minutes. It was exhilirating to see the stage from...the stage, to be dancing whilst Prince was playing his guitar next to us and to see some familiar faces in the crowd, all smiling towards the stage. I can understand why prince was in such a good mood, the crowd was literally glowing with happiness!

At the end Shelby J. grabbed me by the waist and we all waived goodbye to the audience. The NPG gradually exited the stage, starting with Prince, ending with Mike, Greg and William blowing one note out of their instruments, walking two steps, blowing one note, and so on until they were all gone. And that was it!

I didn't really react on the moment but when it was all over, as I went back down on the floor, and exited the Indigo, I was like this: eek

Beautiful Strange? eek

Oh, I gotta get this one...
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Well, looking back, it was quite a night indeed! The regular show was fun enough, but the aftershow was pretty much the bomb. When i got into the indigo, the purple curtain was still closed, and they were playing some funk stuff. So i went outside for a quick smoke, and chatted to some people also hanging outside for the same purpose.

When i went back inside, the curtain had just opened, and renato was playing the dance i think.. so i was thinking thaqt i might actually get lucky and see P do an aftershow on my single night of going to any aftershows at all (any any regular shows during the earth tour for that matter).

After a while P came on stage, and they started playing around the world in a day.. and it only got better from that moment on.

With me were a friend and his girlfriend, none of which were particularly close to being a fan of Prince.. i had to explain to the girlfriend who P actually is earlier on that day..lol. It was her first ever concert by anyone! Well she and my friend were in for a treat, and i think they a quite an awesome night smile

As for me.. well i used to think that my dortmunbd experience in '88 was going to be hard to beat as being the best ever experience any artist could bring me. This aftershow came pretty close though.. it truly is something you can't explain to anyone who hasn't been there
