Another brilliant aftershow. Prince really does seem like he's at home and having fun at the Indigo2, all of the aftershows being different from one another with their individual highlights - but the 28th is still the one to beat. Feel so lucky to have so many great gigs on my doorstep - I'll never forget the summer of 2007.

And sleep? I'm a postman. I get home, shower-up, cup o' tea and then out again - with purple funk ringing in my ear...

Great aftershow tonight. After only 3 hours sleep yesterday, too tired to write much. Back to back aftershows are not advised with work at 9am the following days!! biggrin

We were just saying, we're all suffering from the back-to-back A'show syndrome! (Not yet, but I will be when at work tomorrow. I mean today. Anyway, who cares?!)
[Edited 9/13/07 21:37pm]

I got 2 hours 15 minutes sleep this morning - the taxi situation is a nightmare! but who cares! then had to get up and get to Stanstead and get a plane back to Ireland.I can't even fathom having to go to work after that expereince - we have just been buzzing off all the chat and memories on the way home altought I look like I have aged 20 years around the eyes and manage to look paler than my usual alabaster - not a good look!

Guys - thank the universe for the org - if we didn't have this forum to chat about Prince what would we do!!! I spilled my soul of sadness when he cancelled the aftershow of the 11th Aug and now I get to share my joy of the best night of my life. WHAAA HOOO! We've been talkin in 'Bob George' speakj all day - its so much fun. "I kick you ass into the middle of next week" "Ain't that a bitch" "Coz thats the rules" in a silly deep voice of course - gotta love Prince for those crazy lyrics - how does he think up that shit! Too much talent in one perfectly formed being...my cat is called Bob George by the way (but she's a girl- don't ask!) and yeah- she is funky!

At some point he came on playing the simple tamborine but i swear, I've never heard a tamborine played as funky as that. That man really IS music. Everything he touches transforms.
Later he also played the cow bell for a while.
Oh yes, The One saw a scalding hot rendition - amazing singing.

At one point Prince also momentarily sent Renato off stage as he was playing the keyboards himself! Shelby was singing at that point, I don't think i knew that song but it was really bluesy.

You're so RIGHT! I was thinking the same thing - how can someone play the tamborine so freakin funky!that man is pure funk...its too much! I thought I was funked out when i left the aftershow but glad I had my Sony mp3 with me so me and my friends shared and earpiece and funked our way through what cuda been a nightmare hour wait for a taxi. WAAAWEEE! Its too good!

Is that all you got, Savage??? biggrin

I knew you'd be knackered this morning, but I see last night's experience has also left you damn near speechless wink

It was great to bump into you and the gang, couldn't have hoped for a nicest bunch of people for company at the queue before getting into the Indigo2 (pity we were separated afterwards).

And yes, last night absolutely counts as one of the greatest aftershows Prince has ever played.

Only had 10 seconds of credit left on the hotel computer this morning.

It was the best ever!

Been to 7 aftershows, 4 no shows, 1 10 minute brief appearance and the Beverley Knight gig 10/8. Our luck changed! At last and what a show to be at the front of. I was watching opened mouthed in awe at one point. Think it was at the start of Beautiful Strange!

Then of course there were the intimate moments between me and Shelby! Right in front of Kat as well! She didn't mind tho. If it was Prince and her I'd be well out of the picture! LOL!

Great meeting you and everybody else at the front. Wish you could all come to the Manchester Party tomorrow!

The best night of my life - ever!!!!!

I was right at the front of the stage and words cannot express how I felt - I got taken to a higher level and still can't believe what I experienced.

I'd also like to say a huge thank you to the people in the queue who let me go to the toilet and stuck up for me 10 mins later when I got back and the bouncer said I would have to join the queue outside. Much love to you and the 'Good Cop' Bouncer Ian who let me and Israel in - for info - if in the queue and U need to go either a.) pee your pants or b.) broadcast it to all the bouncers so that when you return they remember you and don't send you outside.

I cannot believe what an amazing experience I had!!!!!

Quite a night for me too. I was on the left near the front, and even went onstage at the end! I felt like I was dreaming. When I got onto the stage, I thought, well, now you're here you gonna have to dance, you asked for it! I was terrified at first but the music quickly took over the fear and seeing all the happy faces in the crowd (everyone was grinning like a Cheshire Cat by the way which was quite funny) and with Prince being so relaxed around us, it gave me a boost of confidence. I haven't stopped smiling ever since. By the way, was it you I met with Unique & Savage outside the Indigo after the aftershow on Wednesday night? biggrin

I've been a Prince fan since the age of 10 (about 17 years or so) but up until Thursday night/Friday morning I'd never seen an aftershow before. I have to say that the last few years I have been listening to his music less and less, not necessarily because I liked his music any less but because, unlike before I had started to listen to other genres and other artists.

People who know me from school would have thought that could never happen as I was a huge fan before. I think the reason I stopped listening to his stuff as much was probably because I haven't seen him live since the Gold tour due to circumstances out of my control. I think to truly experience an musician you must see them live.

I think what I'm trying to say is that after Thursday night this will never happen again. As I mentioned above I've not been fortunate enough to catch a Prince aftershow before but this was truly the most amazing display of control over a band and the music you perform as I think I'll ever see. Not one note was out of place, the band are amazing but Prince just makes it look effortless. Cliched I know but I honestly feel privileged to have seen him in this sort of environment, he truly is the greatest musician on the planet.

Cheers, come back soon.

You know, I was seriously thinking about that the other day. I know I have this huge grin on my face almost the entire time when he's on as it makes me so happy to be there and share the experience. When I can drag my eyes away for a second and look around I see a lot of other people smiling just as insanely! I wonder what that must look like for him!??! Probably pretty cool when you can make so many people so happy so often!

Well, it must have been around 2:40am. Prince walked up to the left of the stage, looked over us and said:"Who wants to dance?!". Before I could even volunteer, I saw a girl (wearing a black strapless jersey dress) being helped through the crowd and pulled onto the stage. I wished it had been me. But I was happy for her somehow. Whilst I was thinking that, I realised that Prince was still there, still looking over us. He was obviously looking for more volunteers. I was wondering whether to go or not.

What I didn't know then (because I was quite close to the front, but my friend who was further back told me afterwards) is that there were lots of other people reaching out to Prince in order to be chosen. But from where I was, it looked like no one else had volunteered so I held up my arms towards him to signal that I was interested. Prince immediately waved his hands at me as if to say:"Go on then!" and he reached out his hands. First I checked to make sure it was me he was waving to (you never know!), and it was! So I climbed onto the stairs (from the sides - as I wasn't quite in front of them) Prince's hands were to far to reach so the security man grasped my right hand, as I got a bit higher, Prince then took the left one and guided me onto the stage whilst holding my hand inside both his hands.

Next, he selected a very tall guy with glasses. Shelby J. picked 3 girls on the right side of the stage (one had curly hair and was wearing a bright blue dress, the other a bubble gum pink top, and I can't remember the third one). I was wearing white jeans and a purple/white/green zebra print dress btw. We all danced for about 10/15 minutes. It was exhilirating to see the stage from...the stage, to be dancing whilst Prince was playing his guitar next to us and to see some familiar faces in the crowd, all smiling towards the stage. I can understand why prince was in such a good mood, the crowd was literally glowing with happiness!

At the end Shelby J. grabbed me by the waist and we all waived goodbye to the audience. The NPG gradually exited the stage, starting with Prince, ending with Mike, Greg and William blowing one note out of their instruments, walking two steps, blowing one note, and so on until they were all gone. And that was it!

I didn't really react on the moment but when it was all over, as I went back down on the floor, and exited the Indigo, I was like this: eek

Damn! Just my luck...I sold my ticket for the aftershow in the queue, because I realised that i'd left my ID at home, and besides I was tired. I didn't think there would be a big chance to see Prince there either. And I don't feel comfortable being there all alone (i felt i was the only one there without a companion)

So now i read this, the aftershow was great and Prince asked people up on stage. Never been so mad at myself all my life....

All I can hope for now, is that Prince decides to take his earth tour to a bunch of other countries in Europe before he heads home - so that I'll have a chance of going again!

Anyway, London is great and I'll love to go back there soon biggrin The Dome was much bigger than I thought though, not quite as intimate as the last concert i was on (One nite alone, Oslo) Was in the front row there, DAMN i didn't know how lucky I was then!!!

I know what you mean. I went on my own and it seems everybody else is with at least one person. However, I think that if you were able to look in detail you'd be surprised how many there are on their own. Anyway, it's not like a nightclub where you might end up feeling a bit of a wallflower. Once Prince (or whoever is on) comes on the stage the crowd is all together anyway so, in effect, you won't be on your own for the rest of the set.

WOW SIS U CRAZY BUT I LOVE U !, glad u ther to b partt of the experiance
pity we didn get on stage , WE WILL NEXT TIME , Fcukn rite !!

U right brutha! Well meet him someday for sure - coz dats da rules!

By the way, was it you I met with Unique & Savage outside the Indigo after the aftershow on Wednesday night? biggrin[/quote]

It was - looking forward to Thur/Fri - will U be there? Was U there last nite - sounded amazing.

Hello! Were you in the front row of the balcony at the Aftershow on 20th? I was going to say hi but I wasn't sure if it was you or not then the music had just started so I didn't in the end...
