You wouldn't 'move on' on Saturday night, so why should we now?

You still haven't answered the questions I posed. That's because you can't.

You put yourself in the position of 'organiser' and enjoyed the benefits. You should be willing to be called to account.

You've made you're bed ... you should at least be man enough to lie in it.

I bought tickets the same as everyone else and the system was (or should have been) first come first seated. It worked on the US leg of the tour perfectly well. .

Ha ha - that'd be the same system in the US that was used in the UK was it ?

Some people really need an anger-management course !! biggrin biggrin

The same system was used - people queued - chose a seat and everyone was HAPPY!!!

Anger management OH YES definately!!
Using the F word - i ask you!!

My last post on this subject...

1) I arrived at 3.30pm on Thursday and around 1.30pm on the other days.

2) With a couple of small exceptions, I stayed in the queue all day

3) I DID NOT organise the queuing system, the organisers have posted on here many times admitting who they were

4) I helped the Dutch guys out with a language problem they were having with the Apollo management where we were ALL being told that unless we were all in line then there was to be no entrance for anyone.

5) I was subsequently asked by the security manager if I could HELP them out and just check the tickets.

6) In the whole queue of around 500 people, only one had the balls to challenge me (I assume this is you "Ilike" ? - tall guy yeah ?) at which point I realised that the numbers only went up to 250 (as I said before, I did not allocate the numbers, someone else did)

7) I did help out by asking everyone to move back as many were getting pushed around in the line and the queue jumpers were using this as a system to get back in front. I apologise if offended anyone but this was done for genuine reasons.

8) there have been many posts saying how it would have been a lot worse if there was no system. Many would have unfairly queue jumped and there undoubtedly would have been violence like there was at Wembley Stadium in '93

9) I did not benefit from this system, in fact I was offered a higher number and declined it as this was unfair. I accept that SOME abused the system, however this will always happen until NPGMC have the sense to not make admission GA.

9) If you were that unhappy, why didn't you speak to me on the night instead of muttering under your breath and using expletives, I'd have been glad to have discussed it face to face instead of behind a computer screen.

I'd be glad to answer ANY questions you have, perhaps I haven't seen them but base them on facts please rather than speculation

As I posted above, I was not the organiser and anyway cannot have been seeing I wasn't there in the mornings !

As to the benefits - what exactly were those ???

ps - as to the tourrettes - BOLLOCKS (humour, chaps, humour - remember that ?)

Well if this is the truth Gav I will apologise for my comments earlier, after 2 nights of this I think everyone's patience was wearing a bit thin and all I saw was you and goatee boy wandering around shouting the odds,

When Apollo staff wait for confirmation from him before I can enter can't you really understand why I lost my rag?..who is this guy...a nobody..I ain't listening to you so get out of my way and let me in.

Put up barriers so people can't jump the queue and have to join at the back, send tickets and laminates out in the post so people dont have to queue and then queue again to get into the venue which in turn messes up the order, much of the blame must be put on the severe lack of communication between Apollo and NPGMC esp on the first night.

YES thats me!!
Gav, I think people know you are one of the good guys! You have helped me in the past to get tickets for various things and for that i thank you.
I dont think anyone thinks this was your brain child! I can imagine that a fair system was the intention. (depending on how you understand the word fair) If you want to get on the front seat every night then turn up early and queue!

When we had words on Saturday i had enough of people telling me to back up to let someone in who turned up at the last minute because their name was on some kind of list or they had a raffle ticket. There were too many people trying to manipulate people to further their own selfish aims (i dont believe this is was your intention) but it didnt help when i asked you who you were that you just backed off and went away after spending a good part of 15 minutes trying to sort things out - people became suspicious! And then we encountered Scott on the door and boiling point was reached.
What was the deal with the Apollo security staff anyway - isnt that what they were paid to do?
And when we (Adrians wife) challenged them - they denied all knowledge of the raffle tickets!!

All i want is for us not have to go through this again in the future!!

Now - lets play nicely!!

Thanks for the apology starbass, it is appreciated.

I heard about what happened on the door and thought it was ridiculous. Probably my fault though to be fair as I hadn't told him that I'd realised that tickets had run out at 250. That said, it didn't take einstein to work out that this was the case as I picked up on it in about 10 seconds on the night.

I was personally shouting becuase I was f**ed off that we couldn't get in, all because of peoples inability to make a simple four person deep line - especially those bloody French queue jumpers. Yes I lost my temper but it was only so we could ALL get in.

I agree, the whole thing was a farce that could have been easily alleviated with crash barriers but they cost money and that's one thing I've never seen Showsec (the security firm) do - spend money !

The first night was openly admitted by Apollo to have been a language break down, the Apollo thought "ticketed" meant fixed seats and in the US this means "sit anywhere"

I just hope NPGMC learn from this mistake and change the system. Unfortunately the list system was used in the US and they seemed to like it so don't hold your breath.

I wasn't at Manchester but heard it was a fiasco there so hopefully someone will be realistic and come up with a better system

I was going to talk to you but realised at that point the raffle tickets stopped at 250 and accepted that no-one had tickets at that point. Apologies if it looked like I backed off but in fact I'd seen the French mob AGAIN trying to queue jump and was pointing them out to the security staff.

The problem at the Apollo is that if any of the security staff try to move you outside then they can be easily done for assault. they asked me to point out anyone who refused to work with the ticket system and then they'd refund their ticket and refuse them entry. What I was TRYING to do (and so was Scott) was to try and ensure that this happened to no-one. In fact I spent over an hour with the French explaining this to them.

To quote you - "All i want is for us not have to go through this again in the future!!" - I ABSOLUTELY AGREE and suggest that everyone emails NPGMC and tells them. They may not listen but its worth a go !

No hard feelings

I will agree with ILikeFunkyMusic, you have helped me in the past also with tickets Gav and of course is appreciated.

The tickets could have gone up to 500 and I would never have known that I needed one, when I got to the Apollo doors I saw a sign which looked like it had been drawn by my 4 y.o cousin advising the people who I should have got a ticket from, how many people actually go up to the doors and look, natural instinct is to join the queue and not waste time, someone stood around giving tickets out was no good, stay at the back of the queue and hand them out when people join..simple.

Anyway I think its unanamous we all had a great time apart from this..thankfully wink

I did try to explain that to the dutch guys on Friday as at least when scott organised things on Thursday he went roudn and found everyone constantly

I suggested making a sign for Saturday and was stunned to see a piece of A4 paper with kids handwriting on it stuck to the doors on Saturday afternoon.

Guess the words "Bloody large posters" doesn't translate to Dutch huh ?!?! biggrin

Anyway...music was good wasn't it ?!? biggrin

Gav,

Manchester, at least on Monday, was significantly better than any of the London nights. The queue was quite orderly, apart from the sad "must get to the front" brigade who pushed in to the queue when they turned up late". Once inside, they put us into a proper queue in the lobby, and when we were let in we were only allowed to go in a few at a time rather than en masse. The only problem was we were kept waiting outside for ages due to the fact the band were doing the soundcheck and they didn't finish it until late, hence why I think the NPGMC soundcheck didn't happen.

Oh, and as a side note, I had ticket number 252 wink

I was thinking about handing out Uptown flyers but Prince always gets his security team to do a sweep of all the flyers going around outside.

hence why all the '98 lawsuits were just after the tour.

these days its not worth the aggro in upsetting the little guy.

I've just been reading this rather heated topic 4 the first time.

I agree there needed 2 b some way 2 stop the queue jumpers.

But I joined the queue in an orderly fashion about 3.30pm. Chatted 2 poeple around. Stood there for an hour or so, until we started to be let in. Then found out that some1 somewhere had taken it upon themselves to hand out tickets. Now... try telling me and the other 8 people around me that our patience and sensible behavior in the queue was all for nothing and we would have 2 go 2 the back!

HA HA yeah right.

I'm glad that system went out the window by the time I reached the door or some1 would have had a fight on their hands!
----------

AND I GOTTA ALOTTA BUTTA 2 GO!
