I think it's a great idea too, but someone should get an email from the O2 saying they're ok with it, and then take a batch of printouts to give to anyone picking up the glowsticks on the night.
If one security guard gets overly cautious, he'll stop one person then radio his colleagues, and no-one will get them in after that. A print-out would help I think.

I'm so slow on the uptake recently. Do I have to purchase the glowsticks myself or was someone planning to get a massive bunch and sell them on to us Orgers outside somewhere????

Hi ya - it's the latter - apparently somebody was going to purchase and then we were going to collect them at the 02 and/or Holiday Inn. Awaiting further instructions on this!

Hey there folks

Uh-oh, I seem to be volunteering myself. If you're okay with this, I'm happy to sort out a bulk purchase of glowsticks and organise a few of us to distribute them.

(I'm just waiting to be 100% sure I'm going on Friday! My tickets should be with me Monday.)

I could make it to the Holiday Inn around 5pm to hand stix over to willing "distributors". I then need to chase off to central London by tube to meet friends and get on the Clipper. Any hope of leaving my car at the Holiday Inn do you think? Or will I get clamped?

I'll also start a thread for people to sign up if they want glowstix (and only glowstix, not T-shirts, etc). Do need to get a reasonably accurate idea of how many to buy. We shouldn't have to take any unused ones home.

General deal:

* I'm guessing we'll need about 400, but let's see how many sign up
* Suggesting we get the 150mm x 15mm ones
* If we get those, we could pass them on at £1.50 for four, or £3 for eight (obviously). Covers postage, and a tiny margin to avoid getting stung if we don't get rid of them all (quite possible).
* Not sure any one orger should take more than 8, because handing out too many to strangers in your row increases likelihood of some idiot lobbing one. If you only have four or eight, you should have time to "vet" people. You can always wave two if you have spares smile
* With lots of orgers in the same blocks, those blocks should light up like a purple xmas tree, even if we only hand out five or six each.
* Need maybe four people to distribute them? Volunteers?
* Distribution locations - to be revealed. I have a couple of obvious ideas, but orgnote me with suggestions and I'll put a map online for people.
* Remember, if even one gets thrown, we are in BIG trouble. That's my no.1 concern.

Please add your thoughts here (or orgnote me) if you have any suggestions or objections, or are happy to lend a hand with the whole thing.

(What have I let myself in for? smile)

Hey folks

I've just thought of a catch. A glow-stick might make quite a good projectile, which could go down badly with O2 security.

I'm up for this, but I think popelife's got a point - is it worth getting in touch with the O2 or AEG to see if this is cool?

I also agree that orgers might be dotted around too much to make an impact, but Prince has his eye on the crowd, he'll notice - he spotted the lookalike's hat at the aftershow on the 1st biggrin

Hey BlackCandle, where are we sitting?

Just a note - the thing about bottle tops being a potential 'projectile' is utter bollo**s - they just want you to drink the thing quick and buy their beverages - it's marketing, not health and safety. There's loads of things in my handbag I could throw at Prince were I so inclined - and they let them in all the time - so unless you're turning up with hundreds of glo sticks - which just might take some explaining - then you should be fine. thumbs up!
If anybody asks you, I belong to Prince....

The glow stick thing should defo have been done all along in retrospect - for us orgers to ID eachother during the shows!

Is it too late to do this from Sunday? - why wait til the last show?

just shove some spare lids in your bag or somewhere slightly hidden solves the problem

seriously eye think they must want people to wave the bottles around when he sings PR so everyone gets cover lol

wish eye could see this eye bet it will look brilliant but surely if people think a certain funky gentleman takes a peep or 2 at this site then the surprise will be gone the best thing which could happen would be you lot take out your sticks and so dot the bands eye can just imagine cora with purple glowing drumsticks biggrin

Yep, that was my thought too when they told me why they wouldn't let me keep the cap. Done to make you drink it quick, in case you kick it over.

Although the cap itself isn't really the projectile... i think it's a half-full bottle of water flying thru the air they might be worried about.

Sounds like a good idea, but only really worth it if lots and lots of people join in - would the moderators make this a sticky? Maybe even get our friends on housequake.com to join in? If a few hundred or even thousand of us got the glowsticks, then it would work.

It's a great idea - why not do it right? Get the Mods involved and get housequake.com involved. It's the last night, let's light the place up!!! If enough people get involved and there were a thousand glowsticks in the air, that would definitely be noticed, even by astronauts on the shuttle! biggrin

Even if he's told to expect it (don't think it would be one of the main topics of conversation between him and his people!), I think he'd still be impressed if we manage to pull it off.

Great, Now I have an image in my head of Prince running from the stage under an avalanche of purple glowsticks thrown by drunken yobbos up in the tiers - of course he's wearing heels so he keeps slipping...and the stage door is so far away...will he make it?...tune in next week

YOU HERO... i was going to say i'll do it..

ok, i will act as guarantor for the cost of 400 of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/100...dZViewItem and 200 of the bracelet ones earlier in the post..(they are still kind of effective for the price if you hold 2- i have used them before)

if you can go ahead and order, and then, for anything we don't recoup, i'll cover the cost.. LETS DO THIS.

orgnote me and i'll give you my full name, address and phone number so you know i am for real..

anyone else going to step up? The more glow sticks the better IMHO.. i think we should aim now for 1000, that's one in twenty people.. that will make an impact.

Funny isn't it... flowers (and maybe female underwear - but it depends!) thrown on stage is a sign of admiration, but anything else is a criminal offence.

Although there's little danger of taking someone's eye out with a flying pair of kex.

There are a good number (30-35) Orgers staying at the Holiday Inn right near the Dome on the 21st. We have arranged to meet for drinks before the show around 4 o'clock ish, either at the hotel bar or the Pilot Inn pub which is located in that little park that runs right up to the O2 entrance. Might be a good idea to distribute some of the sticks then....there's a thread about the Holidy Inn meet up, I'll try and dig out the link for you.
