In hindsight, I did think of some funny/cheecky stuff that could have been said:
Are you not “willing to do the work” I want to see you working up a black sweat How come you don’t play for me anymore Etc But when you see him I think out of awe and respect no one even poked any fun/banter, he even got as close as putting he’s face onto the metal fencing, but ppl were respectful – that’s what made it so unreal!

Yeah it was mad. They might have done this before, but this is the first time I've been at the side of the stage. I'm not sure what song it was during, too many hits! But they went over to the band, picked up the lightsabres, did a few dance moves with them, quickly duelled, and then threw them away! Bizarre, but melded my sad love of Prince with my sad love of Star Wars - now I want a lightsabre, and the twinz!

You came face to face with Prince and you actually kinda had a go at him about not playing when he said he was sick?!

Having read your post about meeting him, my brain now cannot work at all because I am spending my whole time thinking, "what would I say if I met him?" I know that realistically, I probably wouldn't say anything but rather would dribble, grunt, fall down or lets face it, just wet my pants but I can't help imagining that if it had been me, I would have come out with just the most amazing banter that he would have stood and chatted for a while... *deluded* If anybody asks you, I belong to Prince....

I was surprised he did 'Something in the Water' as well. I've been blasting it from my car recently and was hoping he'd do the screams as well but he did a slower more mellow version. It still worked well.

Hearing Something in the Water last night was probably the highlight of all the shows I've been to. The tiny bit of Gett Off during the synth section was great too - I don't think many people noticed it! Delirious was very rock n' roll, I loved it! He's finally hit his stride on this tour - when he said he should do 52 nights a few days ago (31+21) I think he's right... maybe come back next Summer and do the other 31 eh, Prince?

bloody hell, if he's going to - he really needs to tell me quick so I can start saving up! I think I might have to rent a dodgy flat next to 02 arena next time as I only made it to 4 shows (+2 afshows) this time - which as I keep telling people - means I MISSED 17 shows. This cannot happen again - so when he does come back - I need lots more warning so plans can be put in place and this whole thing done properly next time! If anybody asks you, I belong to Prince....

So much to take in. I went with another orger, so much better than with mates/relatives. He played "Something in the water...." Free" on the solo keyboard section and full versions, "something in the water must not compute" - was the best song ive seen him do this tour, awesome vocals and then Chelsea Rogers towards the end All along the watchtower and best of you were awesome, he also went into a bit of kylie and there was le freak but with the guitar riff from sexxy dancer and some great Nile rogers-esq guitar scratching toward the end The best and extended version of guitar with 2 more solos or so it seemed and then the sampler section - i ve never seen anything like it! People leaving rushed back after he came back on and went straight to floor seats - you had Prince singing away joined by what seemed a 1000 ppl on the floor - amazing sight - he also played one of the "get off" mixes in the sampler section. Princes humour really came through tonight, "Satisfied" included the now infamous - toilet seat song/Shopping is not a sport/I may be small - but so is dynamite, and the best of all "i look as good as i did 20 years ago", points to the crowd" "I saw you at my show 20 years ago - and i aint changed" the show was 2 hours long - making me fear for the aftershow! He also seemed to only take one proper break - after Purple rain - trust me i felt it holding in 2 pints without the loo! Such a great time to be had, and then i met another orger "Veej" at the merchandise stall, absolutely brilliant, as he seemed to know who i was, yep veej you are a medium and im a large. on joining the indigo Q, i saw that it was huge so took a walk, only to be told that the new Q now started at the doors of the o2 (complex entrance), i couldnt believe it that the Q stretched all the way back to where the strange stone type structures are - where you go to get the clipper. I met some great ppl - i went to the aftershow alone, shout outs to the folks from the west country, the asian folks from Watford and the guy from Bury St Edmonds who offered me a lift back home as hes not too far from where i live, he said he was an occasional orger so if hes on maybe he can coroborate the below: After waiting in the Q for 30 odd minutes, a silver VW van type vehicle turned up with what looked like roadies and i reckon they had some sort of soundboard set up equipment - i like seeing this kind of stuff so kept an eye out. then a Silver Mercedes executive saloon turned up and i jokingly said "thats him" so it drew attention - it reversed and the screeched close to the metal/wire type fencing (like a tennis court wall) that seperates the Q to the back of the indigo, Prince comes out jumps as if to shoot a hoop and clings onto some of the fence before landing on hes feet - the conversation with me at the front and other guys around went: Prince - "guys im not playing tonight" Me - "c'mon bro ive aleady had 2 (sticking 2 fingers up at him but the other way around just to emphasise) aftershows of not being able to see you it cant be a 3rd Prince - "I have to rest my voice, im playing tommorow" And off he went. Many people saw this and even recognised me in the Indigo and asked how it all went down - i was jokingly called the grim reaper at the bar as the more ppl that heard the story then realised that Prince wernt playing im not saying its been the best day of my life - but certainly up there, and will live forever in the memory, Prince seemed such a down to earth cat, you hear all these stories of him not looking you in the eye - he looked me straight in the eye. The guy also doesnt have a line on hes face but there was a lot of make up going on. At the end of the show at the indigo where P obviously kept hes word and never turned up where we listened to a UK band that Prince and the band had digged called "rain" along with the NPG horn section (is Mike Phily even human??) i spoke to the soundman who had an "earth tour polo shirt" and was getting hes own little fan club of ladiez on the go, i asked him if he was Princes soundman (and not the house one) to which he said yes and i then stupidly said so your Scotty Paulinski then, and he told me that theres been two others since Scotty going and him starting, he said hes name was Bill. I told him what Prince had said outside and he told us that it sounded right, and that apparently itl be the movies for him (Prince) tonight. Dude was dressed all in black, polo/roll neck and trousers - so if you see some pics of P at the pictures you heard it here first. Sorry for going on - so much to say!! I'm distractedly happy for you at just the mere THOUGHT that he would do that. I'm firmly planted in denial

OMG - just back from London here in Austria - and it was simply just amazing!!!!! Have been on 3rd and 4th of August, but Sept 12th was much much better!!!
Listening to "Free" live I have always dreamed about - what a song - one of my alltime favourites ... Something in the water ..., LRC, ... All along the Watchtower/Best of U (by entering the O2 I said 2 my collegue that it must be great 2 hear this - and then he played it!!!) ... Sampler-Medley in the fully lighted house ... it was simply just mindblowing ... I mean what musician 2day would walk alone on the stage when all the lights are on and play another 20 minutes - it was so unreal ... Btw. thx Raajput for your thread - we were talking outside O2 just minutes after you met Prince (you showed me the pic on your mobile) and I saw Prince on the stairway to the cinema - oh man - great moments!!! Aftershow was great, although it would have been much greater with the 1 we wanna c - but real good music - the singing lady was great - and Mike Philli and Greg Boyer was amazing Thanks 2 Prince and his band for giving us such a great evening! greats netzverWalter

Well that confirms what I saw, I was in a bar at o2 arround 12ish and everyone ran to the window all excited I ran out to see the backs of some figures going up the esqulator towards vue cinema, thought it was P at the time cos of all the fuss and security and police about! I guessed then we wouldnt see him at indigo. I thought the show was still amazin even with P not showing up. The singing lady was from basement jaxx, one of my favourite groups. I never took any fotos of P - would have been too caught up in the moment - strange that i didnt even think of it until the guy behind me got hes fone out!! i probably spoke to you in the indigo as i was known as the "guy who knew Prince wernt playing"! Lunny, yep thats what he was wearing, and hes soundman at the indigo said he was at the movies tonight (i didnt think it would be at the vue in the venue!!) - i have a feeling there are evenings he has plans for, where he gives the voice a rest - unlucky for me its been all the aftershows ive been too!!

Raajput, thank you so much for sharing the experience. Talking about beeing at the right place at the right time! WAUUU!
I went to the show at the 12th as well, and was amazed how a show he is able to give. It was one big party from start to end. REALLY REALLY GREAT! My favorite was when he talked to us ladies during Satisfied - so cool. I just wish that I had been outside when he came up to you, but then again, jealousy is a bad thing Do you know about what time it was that he came? I was not to thrilled about the afterparty tough - not because that Prince didn´t arrive, but because of the people there. Everybody was standing around the stage wearing jackets and stuff. They didn´t even seem to enjoy themselves. I had thought that people would be dancing and laughing, but most of them was just standing, waiting for Prince to show up. That disappointed me - the party was much better at the party in the coctail bar on just by the entrance. Is it normally like that at the Indigo? Love Kirs E Listen for u naked I would dance a ballet....

come on, you make it sound like id questioned God or something! it was more like pleeeaaase - when he said about the voice rest, we understood - as you can see from our side we need to know if its the truth and not a joke - even inside the indigo i told ppl about this or ppl came up to me and asked what happened and they still thought hed still play - ie Prince being a joker. After this i will trust hes word!! i still saw a nice show with the npg horn section, so i didnt miss out except having to walk to kings cross at 4am Yeah... funnily enough, if I'd met him I would have said 'fair enough, thanks for playing all these shows in London, it's been fantastic'.

I think its cos he was so forthright in saying he was not playing that everyone focused on it! Prince - if you ever see this, thanks for the gigs - we know you didnt have to do these shows/tour and im sure you have enough to retire on, thats why we apreciate it so much. Kirs - i have a feeling it may have been 12.30? i was at the merchandise stand with another orger till 12 - hoping the Q would die down and then we may have been in the Q for 30mins
