no cars can go anywhere near the line for the o2 or indigo, so mercs can't drive past you if you are in the line

as for prince telling fans he isn't going to play, and he will play tonight, if you believe that then you will know i actually write all of princes songs

as quite a few people on here saying same thing, why can't you just believe it

there is like a mesh fence next to end part of queue, normally a van there and some others and equip being taken out
[Edited 9/13/07 5:45am]

it's true, i was there and i saw him. i was about 15feet away so didn't hear the conversation, i just saw him shake his head, shrug his shoulders then he got in his car and away he went. i was quite surreal!
...shall we go back?...let's go

I think he has the power to override security decisions. If he feels safe just say it's OK. I know that's happened several times with me old Jacko and people I know. Why not believe it? There are too many people telling the exact same story and are seemingly not related on the boards.

security wasn't really an issue, there was a high iron gate between him and us!

hey was this around 12.30??? do you remember me the stockyish Indian dude in the Black t-shirt, really gesturing him to play as id been 2 2aftershows and this would be the 3rd??

anyone questioning this can do so but i swear on my mothers life that this happened - if you WALK far enough on route to the way to thames clipper, there is a open view to the back or side of the indigo - they had the bloody place open last night - anyone else in the Q??? does anyone remember an American security man saying that the Q awards has caused a mess and overran and they have to clean up and ppl giving him a round of applause?

they had cars there a VW van in silver turned up and Prince later turned up in a silver merc - he jumped out of the passenger side rear door by himself

there was a steel fencing the type that go around tennis courts seperating us

He went along the whole queue delivering the message, he was concerned about the floor still being wet and was urging everyone to make their way in slowly.
RIP sad

thanks, Precisely, us guys at the back started clapping after he finished and I think it spread after that

infact, I know a lot of people have had bad experiences with the o2 staff, but, yesterday was great. I spoke with a security guy on his first day on the job in the indigo – think Christian was hes name and he introduced he managers and stuff and even the lady on door was chatty and talked about P’s pranks etc when she didn’t have to make any conversation

I have to say that all bands are escorted from the back of the main arena to the indigo in cars, its the only way to get from one stage to the other....so it is possible ?

yeah, i saw you! apparently the Q thing went on about 45 mins longer than they expected that's why the queue was so long. but hey, if it hadn't have been that long we wouldn't have been where we were and saw him!

Great stuff!, well i went to the aftershow alone so to speak but most of the group that conversed with Prince barr one for definate went in as its too late to do much else plus alot of trains have stopped.

i dont think Princes intention was to sway us as mike phillips and the rest of the horns are hes band it just seemed that he was saying "dont Q just for me now!" an honest thing to do which he didnt have to as AEG have taken care of all the loopholes in the ticketing

I thought last night was VERY funky, and this black singer had a great voice. The bass player was amazingly good.It was all really sontaneous and improvised and felt really great.
The best bit was when Mike came down, right amongst the crowd and played a solo for quite a while. Then he directed the band from the floor and behaved like a huge fan, screaming and firing on his band! Real cool.

Prince telling peeps in queue that he wouldn't play?? Wow. I missed that but that's so great. I think Prince may feel now that he's like amongst family or friends - he feels right at home in London and with us and gives us updates on what's he's up to! 'Got cold, need 2 take it easy. Off to catch a movie, see y'all l8r' type stuff. So cool! Gotta love that man.

Yes, it was very relaxed when he came out.
Personally I don't care if anyone doesn't believe this. Just wanted to post it as it was "news" when it happened.

The Aftershow
Anyway, later there was a great aftershow (althought without Prince for reasons before mentioned) with the NPG horns section.
Mike Philly, Greg Boyer and Lee Hogans were doing their thing together with some musicians and singers from London. It was funky and you can really tell they love what they do. These guys are really very cool. One bizzare episode was when a girl dressed like "little red riding hood" came up on stage. She was taken off stage by the security but managed to "give it up for the band" before doing her exit. A more cool part fo the show was when Mike went down and walked around the audience at the floor while playing. Pretty funky..
