While that's admirable, I think it's stupid. Unless you have a relationship with these people. How do you decide who gets them - would they have needed to have made a minimum number of posts? If you know them, that's different of course. I'd be sick knowing something I'd sold for £25 is worth £200. Surely the people who really want to go will pay for the privilege.

Why should they have to? I'm not a ticket tout! If I can do a good deed for somebody then I will, whether they mean something to me or not.

Equally you could give someone £200 and let them buy them tickets off ebay. Logically it amounts to the same thing. Or maybe you are just nicer than me! Just something inside me couldn't fleece somebody who genuinely wants to go. I see so many posts on here by orgers so desperate to go on the 21st and I just don't have it in me to make that possible for them but fleece them at the same time! That's a very kind offer from you Vanessa and great to see you sharing the love, but I'm already sorted for the 21st. You did very well to get VIP tix for £65 on ebay and could easily re-sell on ebay for triple that so lovely to see you have the same train of thought as me and want an orger to have them. I always find this 'touts are evil' debate remarkable.
If I counted up the hours I've spent on the TM website trying (with no luck yet) to get tix for the 21st and then multiplied those hours by the minimum wage, I'm certain it would come to more than what people who can afford it are paying on ebay. If people want to pay someone else to do their sourcing for them, then that seems a very sensible option to me. I would if I could believe me! If do some gardening for a fee does that make me evil too?

They have spares, market forces to the rest. I thnik Ebay is better than Ticketmaster. And what about all the people who made losses on their tickets? Are they "evil" too? If you read this thread from the beginning, you will see that the issue isn't about people selling their spare tickets on ebay. It's about orgers who have spare tickets whilst reading on here every day how other orgers are desperate for tickets and instead of doing somebody a good deed, choose instead to sell them on ebay for profit. It most certainly is up to those who have spare tickets to do with them as they wish but my conscience wouldn't allow it. My brother had a number of 21st September aftershow tickets. He could have sold them on ebay and made a small fortune. Instead he chose to sell them at face value to other orgers and his friends. Even he said that he couldn't make money out of "fams". I have tickets for the main show on 21st September but am still looking on Ticketmaster. Not to re-sell on ebay to line my pocket, but to pass on to other orgers who might not have been lucky enough to have been on line at the time they went on sale. I don't want to sound like a martyr but that is the general consensus of most orgers. We want to help each other, not make money. Even if someone wants to make money on them, I don't have an issue with it, not when Ticketmaster are doing what they are doing. .

I'd just like to remind people that eBay is an AUCTION site. People bid what they're prepared to pay and no one is holding a gun to their head to buy.
You don't need touts to push up prices. As long as demand outstrips supply, tickets will always go for more than their face value if enough people want them. I don't think you can blame anyone for hoping to make a profit. I find this 'traitor - burn in hell' routine a bit naiive. All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.

No it is a choice. Pay alot more than £31.21 or don't go to the show. Personally I refuse to pay more than face value. I wont support touts. Simple as. I hate touts so I'm def not spending my night on here arguing about them [Edited 9/12/07 14:11pm] [Edited 9/12/07 14:12pm]

What's sad is that, with so many 21st tickets being sold for big bucks, many of the people at the shows will be those that can afford it, rather than those that most want to be there.
(Not to say you can't be a huge Prince fan, AND loaded too). I was shocked last Sunday to see virtually all the "gold circle" people at the front of 111 sitting down throughout the gig. I suppose when you've paid £275 for your seat you want to make the most of it But my experience is that the amount you pay for a ticket in no way corresponds with how big a fan you are. The fear is that the aftershow could end up half full of pissed city-boys on a Friday night jolly, who just want to be able to tell their mates in the office on Monday that they were at Prince's end of tour party. That would be bad. I hope I'm wrong. I often am.

just read through the 3 pages of this debate and I'm amazed. I'm struggling to believe some orgers would sell tickets at inflated amounts on ebay. I kinda see the arguement for recouping money for having bought initially on release then improving quality of seats at a later date but why inflate the price? If you couldn't really afford the extra tickets then either don't buy them or sell the original ones for the cost of the replacements - surely face value? I only wish I could afford to randomly buy loads of tickets on 1st release and then sell them on when I went out for a second time to buy replacements. If I could have afforded them originally I wouldn't need to 'make money' just recoup costs! I'm extremely fortunate to b one of the orgers who have benefitted from the kindness and generosity of a fellow orger and can honestly say I would do the same. I say that with complete honesty because I was let down for the 1st night at the very very last minute and went to the show with a spare. When someone was frantically asking around for tickets I offerd mine at slightly less than face value, given that it was last minute. They wanted 2 together ideally and turned the offer down.

Unfortunately there are always going to be touts. As long as there is a demand for tickets, then touts are going to be there making money out of people. This thread though started with weaverstreet stating that orgers are turning touts and making money out of fellow orgers which he finds distasteful. Many agree. I'm not a tout! I don't want to make money out of people. And the way I see it, Prince himself set the tickets at £31.21 which is ridiculously cheap - because he wanted everybody to be able to go and see him. As a result of his kind gesture many of us have been able to go numerous times. If the tickets were priced at £100 each, then we probably would have only been able to go once or twice. Prince wanted everybody to go and see him. But there are orgers on here now who desperately want to go on the 21st in particular but either can't go at all due to the unavailability of tickets, or are forced to pay through the nose for tickets off of touts, some of which are fellow orgers. Indeed, orger or not, if somebody has tickets for the 21st and wants to make some money then that's up to them. It would just leave a bitter taste in my mouth. That's my personal opinion. Of the orgers I have been able to help with tickets for the 21st, their joy at being able to go when they had almost lost hope is for me, priceless, and worth much much more than a couple of hundred quid in my bank account.

I fought to get last night tickets from the minute they went on sale, and just couldn't get them... at least, nothing better than upper tier. Depressing. I assume they went back on sale at some point after they "sold out", but that was before I'd figured out how TM operated, so I must have missed it. Anyway, I should have mine on Friday... but I had to dig deep in my pocket to get them. Oh, and professional touts (i.e. not just someone who's selling off a couple of spares) ARE evil. About twelve of them surrounded me and threatened to kill me for trying to sell my spares at FV outside the Brixton Academy show ten years ago.

Well, I'm going to go ahead and out myself cuz I have tickets on Ebay and I’m not ashamed to say it. In my case, I'm coming over from the US and was the designated ticket buyer for me and my friends. Ten days before we were due to leave, I find out they couldn't make the trip. Plus there were the tickets I accidentally spent £450/$900 on 3 months ago which by the way I offered on the Org first, 3 months ago and had no takers.
Therefore, I had several days of main show and aftershow tickets to unload, some of which I paid a lot more than typical face value for since I bought them on auction through Ticketmaster and Viagogo. So why on Earth would you expect me to take £31.21 for Gold Circle front row, floor seats that I paid £450 or £350 for???? That would just be stupid. However, don't assume that me or anyone else always comes out ahead by selling tickets on Ebay. After you subtract Ebay's fees, PayPal's fees, AND the sorry ass dollars to pounds exchange rate I’m NOT breaking even, but I’m grateful that the most expensive tickets are gone. When you have multiple tickets to get rid of in a short amount of time it’s much easier to list and sell them through Ebay than on the Org. That’s what Ebay’s for, it’s easy, and at least you have some protection and recourse if someone changes their mind at the last minute which you don’t have on the Org because that is NOT the Org’s primary purpose. Before this ticket situation, I had never sold anything on Ebay and I don’t know the ins and outs so I just posted mine for the price that I bought them for and for the most part that’s what they sold for. Since I’m not selling tickets for the last night I haven’t made a whole bunch of money. In fact, I’m still in the red but it could be about £2000/$4000 worse. And on a side note, the two tickets I had for the final aftershow I did sell to Orgers at face value. It didn’t even dawn on me to list them on Ebay. Could I have made a shitload of money by doing so? Sure!!! But I chose not to. But that was MY choice. So why some of ya’ll feel entitled to judge or dictate how someone else gets rid of tickets that they bought, with their own money, absolutely baffles me. It’s real easy to be altruistic and generous with other people’s money. And calling someone you don’t know evil over some concert tickets, seems a bit extreme IMHO. I’m in no way condoning what ticket scalpers do. But if there’s a market that supports these prices what’s the big damn deal??? If you don’t want to pay or can’t afford the exorbitant, extortionist prices DON’T PAY IT. If you can afford it, PAY IT. Seems simple to me. You got tickets from somewhere, Prince has his money, go and enjoy the show. All this talk about “real/true” fans not getting these tickets is kinda silly to me. Because most, if not all of these “real” fans probably already have tickets to these very shows, (making it even harder for me to sell my tickets on the Org) or have already attended multiple shows. With the exception of the final night of course. So is the world really going to end because an Orger chose to sell their tix on Ebay, quickly and conveniently rather than on the Org where they’re probably taking a bigger chance that the tickets will not sell or that the other person won’t follow through on their verbal commitment? Any forthcoming negativity is NOT going to prevent me from enjoying London and having a ball at the shows I'm going to, so go right ahead, I’m expecting it, flame on. [Edited 9/12/07 17:55pm]
