9 Sept Aftershow- played with a purpose Anyone else get the impression that Prince (and the band) played like they had something to prove last night? Personally, I felt that by their incredibly high standards, they were a little off the mark in the main show- including a missed cue by Cora when after his piano medley Prince called out for her to help him with a kick drum, only to look up and find and empty drummer's stool- I imagined in my over-active fanboy's imagination that he had said to the band they had to make it up to them. Noticed the intense focus of every band member, the fact that Prince gave each of them a very deliberate chance to prove their (considerable) talent. He came on as the boss of his elite unit, and they showed him the respect they know he deserves. And then, as if he wasn't happy with his own arena performance, Prince absoloutely played the screws out of his guitar. WOOOOOWWWWW! Showing all facets of his skill- jazz improvisation, searing solos, rip-snorting funk, old-school rock and roll- playing tight! workaholic grooves, fanboy favourites (incl an incredible Joy in Repetition), and then bringing the energy of the arena performance to the intimacy of this venue with a full-out-dance-infused version of The Question of U/The One/Fallin. Twenty minutes short of a three hour performance and his point was well made: that Prince and the band are quite simply the finest act on the planet, and that Prince himself, is as close as we can get to MUSIC personified. And not just any music...
THANKYOU PRINCE. THANKYOU NPG. Personally, I hope your show ain't ever over. And now, back to South Africa.

Wow, you're certainly "posting with a purpose"! Thanks for the excellent review! "John Bream, why you being fire-hydrant-head-looking..., you big seven eyed, Grover-from-Sesame-Street-looking… why you being dot dot dot?"

Last night's Aftershow was nothing short of magic - WOW it was so brilliant just didn't want it to end - he just kept playing and playing and to be so close to him when he kept wandering at the edge of the stage. Everytime I come back down to earth, I go to another concert and I'm up there again. Head in clouds day to day bit time. Thank you Prince it was awesome.

Mornin, had 2 hrs sleep, my feet are absolutely killing me but WOW what a night. After the main show had what felt like such an abrupt end, I was treated to over 2hrs 40 mins of what can only be described as mindblowing. All the critics....not heard that for ages.. It's all still a blur but thought it was better than the main show. Did'nt want it 2 end (my feet would argue with that but will treat them 2 a soak later) but can't wait for the 21st. Thankyou Prince & NPG for an absolutely awesome show
p.s. Thanks to Tina for the company, it was gud 2 share the buzz

Ok, You guys and moderator MUST keep those reviews confidential !!
It just ain't fair I flew from Israel for the second time (after many many friendly arguments with my husband who kept saying that I'm not 15 yrs old anymore to spend the household money on a "singer") in order to be at the Sept 6th show and aftershow. Don't get me wrong: I've had the time of MY LIFE but heck you guys got a 3 - hour aftershow ! I should've stayed ONE more night Now I'm fumming with envy... Could it be that they were people present Prince wanted to "impress" OR that the aftershow was actually being recorded? DAMN IT!

I get the feeling that Prince prefers playing the Indigo than the main show. That way he gets to jam with his band and pretty much play what he wants and also ejoy watching the NPG himself. After last night the man is officially King of Funk! I love you Baby, you know the rest...

last nights after show was the best yet for me, although these all night missions on night buses (and sleeping at Victoria coach station before a trip back to bristol are killing me). Thank you prince and NPG for once a again a life changing experience which makes all my endless traveling to London and total expenditure of available funds completely worthwhile. we were all very very lucky people last night and it seems as though we all know it. peace

Im still there in my head the tunes are playing! I enjoyed the main show as well!!!last time i went 7th aug we were in the upper tier this time we were lower tier in row ee 116. I was abit worried about being behind the drums but we were 13 rows from the front slightly to the right having a really good view its not so bad as people have said and the sound is so much better than being in the upper tier!feel sorry for the people just in front who were V.I.P ticket holders.
Amazing how many people do not know about the aftershows walking by the que wondering what we were doing (quite enjoyed the fact they were going to miss out on probably the greatsest aftershow.sic)!!! We were right at the front just left abit as last time he played the guitar there most of the night. He was wearing a blue suit matching his guitar and started playing free form jazz. After about half an hour he went off and came back in black with hat and looked ready to do something very funky . He kicked ass...He is still the best preformer in the world .Everybody who is going to see him enjoy every second of it you will never see anybody else as good!!!!!
