After 18 years of following Prince's music, I finally got to see him last night and what a night to remember.

I arrived at the Apollo to see above in glorious red lettering 'Prince' - seeing that was very moving and I cried man!! I was extremely excited once we got through the door, which was very quick actually, (after reading some of the posts on some threads here b4 hand, I was expecting to queue for some time, I was in in 10 minutes tops...) and after buying a drink with my friend, we made our way to our seats. Currently (but not for long) being a non-NPGMC member, we were seated with a good view, yet quite a way back on the ground floor of the venue. I loved the backdrops, the audience participation, being around so many other people who love him too. There was a women infront of me who kept shouting 'Get your clothes off!' or something similar which was fairly amusing!! His performance speaks for itself, he was awesome. When he and his band first left the stage before the piano funk started, I suggested to my friend that we move further down the front. Blow me man, we only managed to make the front row on the right without *any* question from security!! I was totally astounded at being so close to him. I could see the veins in his neck when he screamed, god dammit!! He looked and sounded amazing, so little and powerful. Woahhh. The band left the stage again and for the final encore, he pulled people on the stage. He started with the side I was not on. I was so damn excited man, yet I was shocked at what happened next. He made his way round the stage until he got to the side I was on. He offered me his hand... So many things happened in such a short amount of time here... I looked at his eyes, another persons hand grabbed him instead, they got up, he looked at that person while he was helping them up then glanced quickly back at me, and then went to sit behind his keyboard. I was afraid to take his hand for fear of him not being able to support my weight man! I'm about 10 stone 6, he's a lot lighter than that!! Shit! I thought. I was so scared and excited, I can not tell you man! A pretty, lovely little blond woman sideled up next to me. She had a look of such energy in her eyes, a rebellion to just get on that damn stage! By now, random people were just launching themselves up there with the other people helped up. I asked her if she intended to get up there, she said yeah, I said I'm going with you. She attempted to get up there, yet the security people dragged her back. A few minutes later, when they weren't looking, I helped her get up there! Wow! There she was, dancing on the stage, brimming with highness at having made it!! I was so torn in two at this point. I was exquisitely scared and excited, adrenalin must have been squirtin' a goodun' round me at that point! My friend said that if I didn't get up there, I'd regret it... she took my foot in her hand after much deliberation and b4 I knew it, I was about 3 foot away from Prince playing the arse off his keyboard!! I rushed over to see the blond chick, I was so high I thought I may piss myself!! I danced around, I looked at the crowd, woah... so many faces!! I looked at Prince, I am still shocked I think - and very, very moved... I danced on the same stage as him man... it felt so exilarating yet quite normal at the same time, like he's this 'MASSIVE HERO OF MINE!!!' yet a regular man at the same time - weirdage... I did a soul clap through my legs at one point - I think Maceo laughed at me. I feel privaleged to have got up there. I also saw a familiar face, Unique was up there too!! I said a quick hello, before getting off the stage and going to the car, high as a damned kite!

I'm impressed with Prince and seeing him and his band live, it was amazingly good and this being my first gig was just such a treat for me, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed losing my concert virginity last nite and I have been broken in good and proper!!

half way through I was getting worried you wouldn't get up and I found myself saying "get up on the fucking stage!"

this is hard staying patient until tuesday after reading these posts!
