Set List 060907 (not sure if it's been posted) Prince – O2 Thursday 6th of September 2007
I said I’d email the setlist to the English gent, so I thought I’d just put it up for all…it may be up already, but I haven’t noticed it, so here it is! I arrived between 5-6pm. You could here that they were still doing a sound check. Presumably with Elton John playing the night before, they had to re build the stage today and set the sound rig back up. No support and an early start! Set List: Let’s Go Crazy 1999 Take Me With U Cream U Got The Look Musicology Question Of U/The One/Fallin’ Medley What A wonderful World (featuring a few bars of an Elton John Number!) Piano Set: The Morning Paper Diamonds and Pearls The Beautiful Ones Insatiable Little Red Corvette Sometimes It Snows In April Black Sweat Kiss Purple Rain I Feel 4 U Controversy Crazy Nothing Compares 2 U Sampler Set: Sign Of the times Pop Life Erotic City When Doves Cry Alphabet Street DMSR I Wanna Be Ure Lover Nasty Girl Raspberry Beret. Personally, this my favourite main show that I’ve been to so far (I’ve been to 7 main shows) Everything just seemed to click. Maceo Parker has departed (I love him, but a change is as good as a rest as they say!) The sound was great (it hasn’t always been!) so perhaps the Elton John interruption was a good thing! Prince took the time to address the fact ‘This is my house! I don’t care who came before me, I don’t care who comes after me. THIS…IS…MY…HOUSE!) The piano set was mainly full songs rather than a medley, so we got the screaming climax of the beautiful ones and Prince pounded the hell out of the keyboard! In Little Red Corvette as the crowd sang ‘it was Saturday night; prince followed after with ‘Or Thursday night’ each time The sampler set has been lost on me some nights, but it hit the spot tonight as he played enough of the songs for it not to be frustrating (FTR: Erotic city, DMSR, and Nasty Girl were just the samples though) Also, he only played the Hohner guitar tonight – it looked like the guitar tech was going to give him a different one at one point, but Prince shook his head, wagged his finger, and out came the Hohner again! (he played a fender for some of the aftershow though) It just worked tonight, the setlist/running order/crowd response. A joy to behold! Aftershow An absolute delight. The aftershows are shows unique, that it’s impossible to compare them really (my 6th O2 aftershow). They were late letting us into the venue (apparently a technical difficulty with the air conditioning) But the show started relatively early, and lasted a long time! More structured than many of the aftershows I’ve been too A very definite set list and less instrumental jamming than some. A mini Planet earth set in the middle. Head dress for this evening was was a hooded top! Set List: (courtesy of Black Sweat) Honky Tonk Woman Crazy/Can't Get You Out of My Head Rock Steady Sugar Mama Love Is A Losing Game Baby Love Redhead Stepchild Stratus Planet Earth Guitar Somewhere Here On Earth The 1 U Wanna C When U Were Mine Anotherloverholeinyohead/Rock Lobster 3121 Bass solo Chelsea Rodgers I don’t know what to say really. The aftershows are my idea of paradise! Prince’s final words: ‘The Summer that changed everything’ Footnote. Met some lovely people tonight, I recognised the guy next to me at the main show as he’d been onstage at the KOKO, and his girlfriend was infectiously happy! Met some ‘orgers’ too - all seemingly normal, but with an unhealthy love of all things purple! (e.g. symbol tattoos, sequined symbols on their miniskirts, and costume changes for the aftershows!)…ha ha…nutters!…but the loveliest nutters you could ever hope to meet! Great to meet you all! ‘May you live to see the dawn’ (well, I forgot my axe!) [b][Edited 9/8/07 4:31am] www.myspace.com/kailimba www.myspace.com/kaievans [Edited 9/8/07 4:48am]

You have reminded me of that night. Prince was relaxed and chilling out towards the end, especially in the encores. But I have a small bone to pick. His main show was short, seemed abit rushed, I feel. but nonetheless a great show once again. The 1st Sept is my best to date. `U need 2 find a love that's gonna last'

And how much do I love that song???! I nearly died when he started playing it. It is such a beautiful song, and okay it's not Prince, but I appreciate beautiful songs with beautiful words. `U need 2 find a love that's gonna last'

Thanks, I'm not that familiar with Elton john's tunes...love kate bush's version of rocket man though. Download it, it's beautiful, it actually brings a tear to my eye. I'm not an EJ fan, tho' seen him live, well I got free tix, and he was playing at a venue 10mins away from me, a few years ago, . I do like some of his stuff, but listen to the words of `Your Song'. Okay, I'll stop now.... `U need 2 find a love that's gonna last'
