sign o the times (as he did on the live sott dvd) would be the ultimate. with the blue and white strobes, cat dancing and all those drums. ok he probably couldnt get cat but im sure he could find a replacement! i think i would pass out with excitement if he did this.

i was there when he did 1999 for the first time this tour on the 14th and that was great. everyone was looking round going "no it cant be?!!"
OH FONKY LONDON...

Thought of another... how about It's Gonna be a Beautiful Night? Starts of in the dark with the chant (we all know it) with a voice over the PA, then the horns after a few rounds still in the dark, then a spotlight as the horns parade through the O2 to the stage with all the band members trailing in single file.... and then last but not least, the man, Prince! Howzat?!

Hi, I mentioned that earlier, but feel it would be cool as closer, with the band marching out in single file, as you said.

I'd like to see him open with Let's Go Crazy, cos I haven't seen him start with that yet.

But for a new one, how about Baby I'm A Star?
[Edited 9/7/07 14:53pm]

Of course! That is one song I want to hear him play, and the song title, is apt for the purple one.

Gold is meant for that arena

I'm not sure about Gold. For that particular tour it was fantastic, but abit too soft for me, and we need an amazing mind blowing opener. I think Let's go Crazy does the trick. It gets the audience going, even the non-prince fans.

Thunder would be a good one but personally I have loved the 4th Aug and 6th Sep when he did 'Lets Go Crazy' when the 'Dearly beloved...' bit starts I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck go up and it gets me dancing right away. I really want to see 'Baby I'm A Star' at some point, not as an opener but maybe near end. He did it at Grammys couple of years ago with Beyonce and Superbowl so come on Prince play it smile (pref the 13th!)

there are loads of songs i would love to hear..

if he was to to when doves cry as the opening song.. for 99 percent of the people there, they would already proclaim the gig as the best they'd ever seen.

personally i would LOVE around the world in a day, or it's going to be a beautiful night..

hell, he's going to have to do 52 nights.

aaaanddd.... 31 plus 21 = 52 so the numerology is ok...

Prince (and most artists) usually like to kick off their concerts with a powerful opening song. Prince has often used 'Let's Go Crazy' or '1999' but what about 'Thunder'? Ithink he hasn't played that since the D&P tour and I thought it was amazing as an opener. Anybody else go along with this or an alternative powerful song?

I would love "Pussy Contro" as a fun start - I love the way he raps.
I love Prince and chocolate - in that order

I know he wouldn't but Sexy MF.
Gold to close but not the ticker tape did that on the gold tour so wouldn't want to repeat himself. Did he fly at Gold or is my memory playing tricks and I'm thinking of the swing at Wembley?
I like let's go crazy as an opener and you have to remember some people only see hime once! No No honestly they only go once!!!
How about A Bob George/Housequake intro? I'm sure that could be merged?

Or Head? But I'm not sure he would now.

Too many options, but shows he doesn't need to rely on three.

For your average fan (i.e. 98% of the attendees) I have to say that Let's Go Crazy is pretty much a perfect choice. I'm dying to hear Partyman but I know it's never gonna happen! I could never take the place of your man would be a cracking opener too...

I'd love to hear SOTT open a show.

Too quiet at the end. Bit too wordy too. Think of the damp squib that Planet Earth as an opener proved to be. Once the initial "In France a skinny man" euphoria wears off, there's a lot of noodling on guitar.

You did not attend the SOTT tour i guess?
Clouds of smoke cut in 2 by a guitar and then only the drumbeat, prince and a guitar (and a few thousand fans of course....)
When you hear the audience in the O2 reacting to the snippets he plays i think it would be a great opener.....

what about... the lights go down... the smoke above prince symbol... prince comes up with his elevater playing the intro guitar solo from "i'm yours" and then the band starts playing the song.. and prince singing LONDOOONNNN, I'M YOURS

the intro of this song is so powerful, not the bass intro but the guitar.. it would set the o2 on Fire !

1999 has been my favourite opening number, seen him start with that twice, 14th August and tonight (12th) The intro works so well "don't worry I won't hurt you" that said I'm all for THUNDER, that would be out of this world on 21st! Let's keep talking about it and maybe...
