Jsut got back from tonight (6/9) show...amazing

I've just got back, and I am still tingling with excitement for the best show I have ever seen. Here's my review.

This was my 6th time and the best seats yet - Block 102 Row D, right behind the spiral where P does his synth. But even at 8.45 there were loads of empty seat and I was concerned the crowd, and the atmosphere, were going to be rubbish.

P started with Let's go Crazy! cool 1999! biggrin Take me With You lol But I looked around me, and the miserable sods were just standing there pint in hand, or even sitting and I wanted to shout at then to get up. P even went to the opposite side (the horn) and said 'Freaks in this side!!' Then I went nuts when I thought he was going to play Question of U, but it was The One. But I felt embarrassed to be among those people who were so dead in their response, so often I thought I saw P look this way out of the corner of his eye, then decide to go to the other side, or down the point, where the crowd response was so much better.

But I was loving it and stood through the whole piano segment whilst everyone else sat (nb during the What A Wonderful World interlude, Renato threw in a bit of Your Song as a tribute to Elton from last night). Bit of Diamonds and Pearls, the most heart-wrenching version of The Beautiful Ones with full screams, (towards the end he pushed away the stool and wrung ever ounce of emotion out of "do you want him? Or do you want me? Cuz I want you!!") The Morning Papers eek and Insatiable eek (both first time on this tour??), then all the usual rest - U got the look, black Sweat, Kiss, Purple Rain (break) I feel 4U / Controversy (break) Crazy/ Nothing Compares 2U (break) synth section.

And something truly wonderful happened. All those miserable gits were on their feet, finally realising what a privilege it is to see him in this form. It was amazing how he turned round the entire crowd and whipped them into such a frenzy - after Purple Rain the noise was deafening, and the best was yet to come!!!

Being this close you can see every facial expression, every curl of the lip, every little shimmy... plus he had those shoes with the red lights in them again! Was wearing them for Crazy/ NC2U.

And finally the piano synths. I know some people don't like them but everytime he does them, the audience reaction is something to behold - tonight we had SOTT, (1 verse) When Doves Cry (2 verses!) Pop Life, Alphabet Street, Raspbery Beret, DMSR, sample of Erotic City ('no, that's just too funky!').

Each time I go back to O2, I fear it might not be as good as before, that I might get P fatigue, but each time he proves me wrong, and provides 20,000 people with one of the most wonderful nights of their lives. I'm gushing now, but I'm not afraid to express it, if onyl I could find words to do it justice!!!!

Thanks for a superb review, Amandeepr (The liveupdate thread gave up after the first 2 songs).
And You did all us orgers proud by remaining enthusiastic amongst a section of boring people. Well Done!!

I think the remaining concerts are going to continue to throw up some exciting surprises.

spot on amandeepr - was absolutely brilliant - shame the crowd were a bit crap further forward - I was in row Q of 102 and the atmosphere was absolutely awesome - even managed to get a bit of a chant going after the synth set.

Tonight was my 3rd time and the first time I've got a synth set and frankly I want a whole night of just the synth... 50 - 60 songs - it was GLORIOUS!

From what I've seen and heard that was right up there with the best from this tour. So glad i was there biggrin

What a fantastic show. I was in block 111, row C and was up and dancing all night (my feet are so blistered and sore right now!).

Great opening songs (Let's Go Crazy, 1999, Take Me With You). Prince looked really happy throughout the whole show and he came over to our side and declared "the freaks on this side!".

The Beautiful Ones was stunning yet again. I was SO happy to hear Raspberry Beret with a little backing to it (I love the piano version he's been playing but this was closer to the original that I love). Great to hear Insatiable and - The Morning Papers. WOW! What a treat!

Still hoping and praying that we'll hear a full version of SOTT before the 21 nights is over.

Prince just keeps getting better and better! biggrin

Was a great show. I was down in D2 and we were having a party. My third show on this tour and they do keep getting better. Took another Prince virgin/non-fan and she was all agush after the show 'He's amazing! - a little packet of amazingness! - and he's soooo beautiful!....' Think she enjoyed the show too smile

Yes, the 6th was an amazing gig.

I can't believe how absoloutely energised and dynamic he is..

And I have to admit, seeing the guy in his 60's next to me, swaying to PURPLE RAIN with his eyes closed was sweet.
Prince can do something to all ages!

Yet ANOTHER amazing time for me. 2nd time ever seeing Prince and I feel this was marginally better than the first one, but didnt enjoy the slower stuff (more of a party man myself!) but still, even the slow ones got the crowd going. Hands up, I did sit down for the slow ones and go to the loo *waits for sticks to be hurled at me*

But it made my night when he played 2 verses and a chorus of both WDC and Pop Life. Top favourites right there!

But yeah, quality night and it could be my last time seeing the little man, so i had to make it good!

p.s, I laughed when Prince said 21 nights should be 52...isnt 2 21's 42? hehehe
I got more hits than Madonna's got kids!

he did both, but he said 'no, that's just too funky!' with Erotic city. I noticed it being exact the same words as the 17th...

Are you sure??? I was right there in D2 a few feet away .. but I was screaming so loud I may have missed it .. he'd got me high as a kite.

I don't think the poor 'part time' fans next to me knew what hit them when I went off.

God I honestly don't remember Erotic city ?? .. I'm loosing my mind. I screamed so loud at the opening bars of Nasty Girl though

Definitely samples of Erotic City and Nasty Girl... the latter saying somthing like "this if your you where the nasty girls at?!" (?)

Amazing show. First time I'd seen it from the "front" (Row B of 106, with no tall people in any of the rows in front of me.. perfect viewing!!!)

Particularly loved the Piano medley, and I totally agree that the snyth/sample set really gete everyone rocking, casual fan or otherwise. Great stuff.

I saw a guy at least in his 60's at the aftershow, partying like it was 3121, rather than being in 3121. Prince really does have something for all ages.

I was in D2 Row C with my boyfriend, he's got bleached hair..Did you see us? We had a ball..Loved the big hairy bloke next to me who was well into it but the older lady next to my boyfriend didn't seem to be enjoying it too much..Roll on the 12th!
