Prince London 5th Oct - DETAILS! Just to say I was at the Apollo for the Saturday 5th Concert.
There was a huge queue of club members at about 4pm and then they slowly got let in at around 5.30 although they didnt get into the soundcheck until about 6.15. Unfortunately I wasnt a member so had to wait until a bit later, although I managed to sneek a peek of Prince from the circle dancing behind the fams. The background video montage was also pretty cool and was interesting. I would like to know what the music playing before the show was as it was v.jazzy and cool! The concert itself was pretty cool. Prince knows how to entertain people and I loved his commentaries about the radio and who he'd like to hear on it - James Brown, Miles Davis, Funkadelic etc. It was brilliant to hear him play Extraordinary, his vocal range really is amazing. Strolling was such a treat too and it was good to hear TRC live. One of the best bits was the sing through of Raspberet Beret and Take Me With U as everyone was dancing and singing together! What a party! Everyone up on the circle was standing up which made shorter people at the back annoyed, although the stewards tried to move them! Prince asked people to dance with him and humourously told the guys not to sing the loving bit to him on Pink Cashmere (i think). He told the crowd that he no longer swears now that he has Caller ID. He also gave an interesting talk about fanatics, telling them that he is just trying to earn a living as a musician and doesnt want to be pestered! That was v. good. He then played a 1970s song (which is used as the Top of the Pops theme tune) which i liked and recognised but wasnt sure who it was by. He left the stage at 10.15 but came back on 5/10 mins after an encore and played on his acoustic guitar things like The Ride. That was cool! He then made some sexy comments to the ladies and flirted with the audience which was amusing! One of the best bits was the funky last tune (name i dont know) and then to end on Joy In Repetition! Thank you Prince, that is from my favourite album of yours and it was a treat to have that just before i had to leave (not sure if that was the final song). My only regret is not being able to thank Prince personally for his music and for giving us all so much fun, oh well, maybe one day, but if you're reading this THANK U! Ben aka Freaker. | |
