31st aftershow.. 2nite was terrible..awful crowd in the indigo, too many drunks and no atmosphere whatsoever.as usual npg were fab but i'm sorry to say they were not getting any love,i felt relly bad for them. for the 1st time i decided to join my friends at front of stage and was constantly getting elbowed and shoved by men..way too many men in there tonight and it definitly does affect the energy.
prince was at the side of the stage at one point and i think he had already decided not to play and i don't blame him(he did look very cute tho). it's a shame a chance to see some amazing performers is ruined by too much alcohol and lack of respect for other people..if only there could be a curfew put on the alcohol.anyway, hope all those going on sat have an awesome show..sadly i won't be there.going to stick to midweek...

We arrived into the aftershow at about 12.45, but up in the balcony, the band arrived out at about 1.30am, played an amazing hour, Maceo holding court, no sign of prince, but still worth evry penny spent, pity to hear that the drunk idiots ruined it downstairs, but just for info, when the band came on, we were in the highest rows in the indigo, and some girl started firing ice at my brother, and told us to sit down, so after abit of stupid talking, she said we should join her group behind us, which we did, we all partied together, was brillaint. the balcony is perfect after a show, unless you want to be delusioned about touching prince or his guitar.
Anyway, after hearing what you say Kimmy, I am glad we only got tickets for the balcony, I remember after the show, some drunk guy jumping on the stage, and being carried off, strange thing was no one found it funny, so i guess it must have been awful downstairs. anyway, to wrap it up, a Maceo gig, with the NPG, for £25 is in my opinion a bargain, so tonight, will do it all over again, but it will be my last night unless someone gives me 10K to stay till 22nd Thank U, good Morning If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I thought last night was a great aftershow, it was good to see the band have their limelight. The solos were amazing. http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.

Its not on, is it! At the weekend gigs there always seems to be lots of people who work too hard all week and so feel the need to get real mashed, real quick at the weekend...I find these people expect too much aswell!
RANT RANT RANT...I was on my own at the gig last night and so did my usual musical chairs game, where I spy a seat thats empty and thats nearer the action and I go and sit in it, most people I've ended up sitting next to find it well cool that I have the balls to do this but last night I attempted to sit next to this couple who were both really angry people, they said that I couldn't sit there coz it was their brothers seat, I said I'd leave when he came back, I knew he wasn't there yet coz I'd been watching...This couple proceeded to bully me out of the seat by trying to get into the space with me whilst standing on my toes and elbowing me...When I asked why they were so bothered about me being there, they started ranting about having paid for the seat..I gathered by then that the brother wasn't even coming..At this point he saw security over my shoulder and called them over to tell them...Can you believe the bad vibes? I couldn't...This guy was Irish and the security woman was African and she didn't understand what he said coz he didn't get very close to speak to her so I decided to tell her what he wanted...I am not afraid of gettinmg close to a stranger to make myself heard and I told her what I did...She didn't seem to think that I was doing anything wrong and I think she could see the anger in his face and the honesty in mine...She said it was ok to stay there, they did mellow out after that, as in they stopped bullying me but they just stood there rigid, no dancing or any happy vibes coming from them so needless to say I left there pretty quick...I ended up down in B2 by the end of the gig, right up close, at one point I cast my eye back to the irish couple to see if they were still there and they were...At this point he spotted me and nudge his girlfriend to point me out..I of course gave them both a big smile and a wave...Poors things! Strictly mid-week for me from now on! Thanks for letting me rant on guys. thats the first time I've gotten it off my chest...x honesty is the best policy...

I thought NPG put on a great show. Yes we all wanted to see Prince, but they gave me my 25 quids worth of performance no problem.
My real problem is the same as it's been at all of the aftershows so far: DRUNKEN TWATS. They are really putting a dampener on the whole thing, and I guess that Prince picks up on that atmosphere & quite frankly I don't blame him for not wanting to come out, I know that I didn't want to be in these peoples company. What really got my goat last night though was a couple of people who were shouting "We want Prince" while NPG were playing. HOW FUCKING RUDE! How would they like it if while they were making out with their wives/ girlfriends/ hired hand, just as you were getting into it they said " I'd rather be shagging your brother"?! Not nice eh? & I really don't see the difference. FUCK RIGHT OFF! And one last moan (for now!) People taking photographs. How many times ust people be asked NOT to take them. I heard a security guard say to a guy next to me that If Prince sees a flash, he will come out, and STILL he kept taking them. Cheers mate, I blame you for his descision not to play. Now then, Deep breath. Hmmmmm. Aaahh, that's better. Have a nice day Y'all!

agree with the posts above... last night was terrible.
Same set (pretty much) as last saturday's aftershow. We had beer spilt down our backs most of the night, then were attacked during the show by an incredibly drunk obnoxious girl and her moronic boyfriend for no apparent reason. Fortunately one of their sober(er) friends stepped in, but not until drunk ugly obnoxious girl had thrown her drink over us and most the people around us. After that it was impossible to enjoy the show but even putting it aside it was a poor performance.

Hi all,
I have to say I felt a bit of bad karma right from the off last night...sometimes when you walk into the Indigo, for whatever reason, you just know Prince isn't going to play. I felt it that first Saturday he failed to show when I was there also. I've seen a few Prince aftershows and I've seen Maceo Parker perform his own concerts in the UK, but the reality is that without Prince at one of these late night gigs, the atmosphere is just not there. The band was great, and the horns were great, but to be honest with you all if Prince had appeared the drunks would have been a side issue. You'd have moved to see the show, you'd have been delighted to see Prince after hours etc etc. Really I'm not a drinker myself at all but if Prince had showed I couldn't have cared who was there just so long as I could move to a spot where I could see. From where I was which was stage right at quite a sharp angle I could see everything regarding the band. Prince was there at points during the first half hour of the set, his guitar tech. was instructed to tune up his guitars but for whatever reason he handed over the master of ceremonies to Mike Philips and Maceo, and just seemed to melt away. In some ways it's selfish of Prince to be ready to go on a Friday night be in the wings with a pretty full / expectant crowd, take a quick look and then decide he just doesn't fancy it for whatever reason. And the other side of the argument is that the hardcore fans are maybe expecting too much. I just wish I'd stayed away because I really wasn't feeling this show at all...(it had the feel of a contractual obligation, the band seemed to be playing because they knew they had to) Shelby was great when she came on but by then the audience was lost - the NPG are charismatic when they play their roles for and around Prince, he's picked them for very specific reasons, but individually they didn't seem to light up the stage last night. I've felt really buzzed driving home from every Prince show on this tour, but last night I felt nothing and a bit disappointed in some ways - I didn't go to the main show either so it was a totally different experience just turning up for an aftershow on its own. Am wishing I'd stayed with my attended 4 aftershows, Prince played at 3 hit rate...now I've attended 5 and am no better off! Am not sure what effect the whole Chaka Khan on/off thing had on Prince's appearance either, I guess we'll never know. The main show may have been fantastic, I haven't read the reports, but a low key and disappointing evening at 3121 last night in my opinion, to anyone wondering you didn't miss much that you wouldn't have seen on any other night. Highlights were, a brief burst of 4 horn interplay (to fade), Shelby's singing & audience interaction & Cora's drumming (she's quite something). In summary: not worth staying up late if you've got an angry partner or kids to feed in the morning! Ps have loved every other experience I've had on this tour - of which there have been many...u can't win 'em all. PPs great to see Bobby, Tamiko and friends over from the U.S. partying with us - haven't seen you guys since Xenophobia...orgnote me if you read this thread as I don't know your profile names... Best, T

Best, T I totally agree with your views here. We went to the mainshow, which was awesome and was so hyped up, we decided to get tickets for the aftershow. This was my 5th mainshow and my husband's first ever Prince concert and I was really shocked when he suggested going to Indigo, Anyway, to cut a long story..... We left the main concert buzzing, we left the aftershow feeling a bit deflated. I'm not usally one to moan - but I wish we had gone home on the high. I know Prince isn't guaranteed to attend, but I wish he had! so, what is the answer 2 the question of U

I will admit I am getting a little jaded with this will he/wont he. Why does he turn up, take a look at the crowd and then think "fuck it, it cant be bothered". Grow up Prince. http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.

And another thing, all the "new fans" that turn up to the aftershow bring so much agression to them. This blond bimbo in front of me asked me to take 1 step back because she was getting squashed. Fuck off. I came to see a show not to get close to her fat arse and watch her get annoyed when she spills her drink. Its the crowd that really ruin it for me. I htought it would be cool to meet other fans, but in the club its been the opposite experience. http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.
