Prince didn't show at the aftershow!

NPG came on at 0115 and rocked it til 0230, then I forced myself to go cause the boat was on cue to leave and i'm supposed to be playing football in 6 hours.
Maybe I'm easily satisfied but I think the NPG are great and I would be super happy to listen to that superfunk all night long...
If Prince came on after that than I'm a damn fool but I think that may have been it for Friday.
There will be some lucky folks tomorrow I guess. Que sera sera, and besides I can't begrudge anybody a good time

Friend who came to the main show, but couldn't go to the aftershow was hoping he wouldn't play tonight, because we've got aftershow tix for tomorrow.
Hopefully, he'll put in an appearance.

I stuck around right till the end. & there were a few false alarms.

1stly, I kept seeing Prince's guitar technician loitering in the indigo, although there is no guitarist in the NPG but Prince.

2ndly, after the show "finished" there several drum riffs being played from behind the curtain over the DJ's tracks.

There were also some mic feedbacking from behind the stage & other musical sounds.

There was also some smoke machine and fancy lighting going on a while after the show ended.

Personally, I think that the NPG had something extra up their sleave 2night, but the crowd responce was rather luke warm so I think they changed their mind and left it short without the encore. There was definately a band ready 2b in session behind the curtain about 15mins after they left the stage.

It looked like the 'work experience' guys (as opposed the regular people who work the shows) just messing around on the boards at back of the Indigo that was causing some of that.

I also thought that he would appear as there was no lead guitar, but he didnt, but you know what? i didnt care, the NPG funked the place up big time, Maceo has learnt alot from Prince and that i can prove, tonight he held the band together, was amazing to watch and i have seen Maceo live in Vienna, plus he stayed in the hotel i work in germany last january, ok, i will stop ranting, what i am trying to say is prince has brought something out of Maceo, that not even JB could do, anyway, hope i get tickets for tonights indigo show

Well if that is the case, all those going tonight had better make sure we whip up a crowd frenzy and make sure Prince and the band give us something special!

4definate! I was a lil dissapointed with the response last night, although I was knackered & not contributing as much as I usually would.

Shame I don't have a ticket 4 2nights aftershow, coz I have a feeling he may b there, & it may b HOT!!!

For information purposes, Prince WAS at last night's NPG Aftershow. He dind't play just mingled off-stage with Shelby, Marva and the horns section as they move on and off. His guitar tech was primed for action but P gave the word and the guitars were packed up.

I feel he didn't want to play for a few reasons: 1) The crowd wasn't great - the usual Friday night pissed parade; 2) How do you top Tuesday night's aftershow at the next opportunity? 3) He had Saturday in mind for the aftershow as Chaka was originally meant to play.

But, for the record, he was off-stage for a good 30 minutes of the NPG performance. I first saw him after the Miles Davis All Blue intro song.
