o2review said: On the whole set list felt disjointed tonight. Still a good show and seats gave great view but no where near tuesdays show. The midweeks have been consistently better (the ones I've seen anyway)
Crowd got into it towards the end and was great he came back on for the synth set (coming back in the box) and saying who is making all that noise here did you want more. I kid you not it was the fastest mexican wave I have ever seen to get the noise levels up to get p back on. Was about 10 seconds per lap lol Not doing aftershow. Preferring to do more of the main shows instead as not deep enough fan to know the real back catalogue tracks (hence no idea one of the piano tracks tonight which sounded great) Was it the beautiful ones methinks, perhaps the best song on the Purple Rain album. That'd be where it played it in the same order with the same other tracks on Tuesday. Tuesday was great but he didn't do Shhh. I'd love to hear Girlfriend, forever in my life, and a love bizzare also. Thanks for keeping the live updates alive.

Hi ya, sorry to meddle in with ur thread, O2! I started 2 type this...: Yes, I think that was Mutya supporting now. She's doing some Sugarbabes stuff and some covers as part of her set too, if i'm not mistaken (tbh, i'm not that up on her stuff). She can sing well, actually, but she lacks in showmanship, she's just standing there at the mic, nothing much to look at. (I mean, she's nice to look at but no "show" - or I'm just spoilt by the greatest showman on earth...) Warning, bit of a rant: Can i just say something 'bout buying tix from fellow orgers. if u commit 2 buy and the seller kindly doesn't insist on money upfront because of short notice but agrees 2 exchange on the night, i feel u still have 2 consider that as a bought ticket. if u then find a better tix on TM and buy it, it should be you who thinks what 2 do now with the orger's ticket. i had someone pull out on the day after i turned 3 other people away the previous days, telling them i had sold that ticket. another person very kindly honoured her promise and bought the ticket off me which she no longer needed (thanks Bett!) but she was let down by someone who really wanted the ticket in the morning but then by lunchtime had bought a better one on TM. I can totally understand the temptation but a promise is a promise! Ok, rant over! I'm sitting in the exact same seat tonight as on the 28th - what are the odds! The man himself came on at 9.05/9.10 tonight opening with Musicology! It may sound odd but it went down extremely well - great party atmosphere immediately. The dress theme tonight 4 every1 is RED! Him, Mr Hayes+Cora all in red suits (over a black shirt for Prince), Shelby red hat and red cap. Chants of Maaaceo and funky London already. Dancers from the audience on stage already! Shelby singing. He is right among the dancers at times tonight, not keeping his distance, cool! Then some cover, "you gotta play that music right, boy" what's that called?, he's ripping it up with his guita solo Pass the Peas, stunning version featuring Maceo and Cora with him talking from off stage Cream U got the look - oh man, the guitar is on fire tonight Shhh, oh yes, I love this song! I had lots of technical difficulties tonight so i never managed to post this, sorry. then i saw O2Review is doing the updates anyway, so i gave it a rest and just enjoyed! Thanks very much O2. it is a very enjoyable read afterwards too, even if u've been there! I agree, crowd not as into it, he worked hard tonight but they were never quite and totally with him. Also, he made a mistgake i thought on Purple Rain, started the verse (i don't wanna be ur w/end lover) but only got half way thru it and then went into the chant, woo oo oo ooooh.... Also, some great stuff missing from the set, agree that mid-week shows have been better. But the third encore was priceless, he came out, "who's making all that noise?... I gotta get home, y'all! R u trying 2 tell me I AM home??" Crowd goes bonkers... "Don't mess with me, i got too many hits!" then launches SOTT, then stops immediately, "U don't wanna miss ur train!" The crowd were begging 4 mercy, i was screaming my head off, "just effing play! It! Man!" it was priceless. "John Bream, why you being fire-hydrant-head-looking..., you big seven eyed, Grover-from-Sesame-Street-looking… why you being dot dot dot?"

His own guitar playing was not that consistant either tonight i thought, great at the beginning but not as out-wordly fantastic as on other nights on Shhh and Purple Rain. Also, because that was the last song of the main set (the last song b4 the encores) he said "good night, London!" at the end of his singing (before the solo started), that was very odd timing, i thought. "John Bream, why you being fire-hydrant-head-looking..., you big seven eyed, Grover-from-Sesame-Street-looking… why you being dot dot dot?"

Is 5 too young even to appreciate the purple one? Ha Ha - yes she did fall asleep! She sure appreciates Prince but it was just a little too late for her. I woke her up when he did Purple Rain and she stayed awake for the rest of it. She didn't stop talking about it on the way back. She says that I should marry Prince and she wants to go and see him again.

I loved the beginning, it was a very unexpected starting arrangement,
The 'unknown' piano medly song was: 1000 hugs and kises. Really didn't expect to hear that, it was great. RIP

Ho, i'm upstairs in King's row 2nite (i bought that ticket kinda by mistake, believe it or not) but now i feel for once (my 5th aftershow) it's really cool to check things out from upstairs. The bar they have up here is really posh, extremely nice, the sort of place i could see P hanging out in... I'm right bang in the middle in the 1st row upstairs and if my eyes don't deceive me that semi-circular guitar sound adjuster thingy (err, someone tell me what that's called, please!) is out in front of the curtain - a good sign! Looks promising, here's hoping! I tend to dance a lot though - these chairs are real comfy but i don't think i'll be able to stay on mine if things heat up! Will keep u posted if anything happens... Like you say, a good sign that it's out. I could have gone and decided not to but I hope you get a great show anyway. If it's even a fraction of what we got on Tuesday you'll be delighted. RIP

Pedal set, thanks! that makes sense. Yes, Tuesday was other-wordly, i don't think it will ever be topped for me. Let's see what happens tonight.... Anybody else still here in the aftershow who's posting live? no, nothing much to report. P didn't show tonight. that pedal set was all lonely and remained unused tonight. (i can't be there but i'd recommend people get down to the aftershow tomorrow!) the npg featuring Maceo did good, playing jazz and funk. like Prince said during main show tonight, "aint anyone who can mess with my band". Renato makes faces almost as funky as Prince when he solos. Cora was wearing such beautiful make-up tonight and smiling so much, clearly loving it. (My gosh, that woman has thighs aand bossoms! I feel all the women in the band promote a very healthy body image, actually...) Marva-licious and Shelby J. brought the house down, as usual. A great warm-down. I'm glad my memories of the 28th are still intact. I liked it up in the King's Row (sat next to some VIPs and got chatted up by this guy...), but next time P comes on stage, i want to be right in front of it again. See my post two positions up. According to 3121.com Prince played a "Brand New Song" during the piano medley... Anyone remembers anything more? title, lyrics.. something hah! (1000 hugs and kisses is quite old so actually hoping for something new!) [Edited 8/31/07 22:52pm]

Perfect thanks EG... this is a song i sort of would have half known if i could hear it properly but the sound wasnt that great in 111 row D to actually make out exactly what was being played if you didnt know the song fully. Was fine for the majority of the show as have been gemming up on all things P in the last few weeks so can fully appreciate the last minute ticket opportunities I Couldn't make out the 2nd track Shelby was singing either. Thought the super full version of When it Snows was the highlight of the show tonight (although Shhh was right up there too... shame hardly anyone knows this track as the atmosphere around you doesnt match the quality of the track) On a note to Squirrel who thinks 111 is the best block in the house agree it offers the best view but I found the atmosphere not so good there compared to my favourite area which is the A2/A3 zone. A2/A3 has the perfect blend of really close to prince, the excitement of being at front of stage like in a normal gig (ie with the stage above you), everyone seems more into it down there so atmosphere much better and the sound is pretty good there too. the guitar is the best instrument in the world!

Thought she looked cool in purple matching your wrist band. Glad she enjoyed it anyway. i have my 7 year old on the final night and it will be his first so hoping he will enjoy it too. I would have known if it had been beautiful ones (agree amazing track although purple rain better on that album imo). I think his live versions of beautiful ones are better than the original as well which sounds a bit dated now with the 80s synth on intro. Just piano and P vocals sounds so much better. Girlfriend, Forever in my life and Love bizarre would be great to hear too. the guitar is the best instrument in the world!

She really did enjoy it but for a child who is usually in bed by 8 p.m. every night it was a little late for her. She battled it for ages but gave in. However, after a little power nap she got a second wind and was OK after Purple Rain which I woke her up for! The chap in white who we were waving wildly at was my brother! Yes, he's an orger - Mentalist. And he was with another orger - jaypotton.

Right, I thought it may have been you on the end there as saw a guy looking over occasionally so did wonder. I thought that the sound was OK when Prince was on but couldn't clearly hear Mutya's words. I thought that row D was a little too close to the stage for me to really appreciate the full stage show, lights, etc. It was great to be so close to Prince when he came over on our side but overall I'd prefer a little higher such as around row G. I have row M on that block on the last night so that should be perfect!
