The best COncert since Lovesexy 88

Just got back from what had to be the best concert I have seen in about 14 Years!

waiting in line was a pain, but once we got searched for cameras etc we Music Clubbers were allowed in to our preferred seats. Oh my GOd as we walked in there was Prince standing among the crowd trying to explain to a few moaners that the seats werent numbered as Apollo staff had indicated and that we were free to choose any seats in the first 10 or so rows! I stood about a foot away from him and he looked cool and relaxed, and enjoyed some banter with the Fams.

The soundcheck itself was pretty short though he and the band played an outstanding version of Days of Wild.

At about 8.15 the band and Prince took to the stage all looking cool in suits and white shirts and Ties (except Rhonda and Candy)

The show opened with Rainbow Children which truly came to life, Prince smiled throughout, I can t remember all the songs yet, but he followed with Muse, and The work all of which got the crowd well involved. 1+1+1 is 3 was awesome and really pumped up the funk from what was up to then an excellent Jazz/Blues set. Then My mind got truly blown... Rohonda kicked in a truly dirty bass and it dawned on me that Prince was playing Zep!! Whole Lotta Love never sounded so good!! it was gritty, funky and rocked out! I have to get this on CD one day! Strange Relationship was a s good as I have ever heard it and better than the CD version (if possible) Bambi was awesome, as were the full versions of Take me with you and Rasberry Beret.

After a short break where the crowd gave what i thought was the loudest and longest screams I have heard in many a year, Prince came back to the Piano told us to sit down while he sung to us a little! I forget the order and full list but we got spoiled! full version of Adore, condition of the heart, I wanna be your Lover and a snippet of Most Beautiful Girl. The band returned and we got The beautiful Ones , by this stage I was in a dream!!

The show ended with of all the things The Ladder!!

Prince was what I rememberd him to be in the Parade Tour, involved with the corwd , playful humourous and the show was a stripped down revue, as he said "Real music by real musicians"

It was truly a brilliant experience, he even played How come you dont call me, I am convinced now that Prince must be the last true musical great, if I wasnt fighting off the Flu I would have gone to the after show which I am sure will be reported as awesome too!

Prince is back ...to his best

So did people stay seated through the whole performance? I hope not, I think that would be quite inhibiting...

No - not at all!! We had to be TOLD to be seated (his masterful control of a crowd now extends to direct instructions on whether to boogie or really listen!) The crowd was well up for it and lifted the roof.

Like I said before, this tour reminds me a lot of the Parade era. BUT Prince is more fine tuned on this tour, and a lot more mature.
