Means probably a solo Prince aftershow though... [/quote]
That's if he turns up at all..... I rather selfishly don't want him to do Friday's aftershow as I'm going on Saturday!

Out of all the Sugababes they've had (and boy have there been way too many changes in that trio) Mutya has the strongest voice live. I saw a live performance of 'Push the button' on E4 recently and she virtually carried the song. I was pleasantly surprised when she joined George Michael on stage at Earl's court in Dec.
As for the Top 10 being the ground from whence these support acts are picked, considering the way charts are compiled today is an absolute joke - even worse than the days when records were hyped into the charts in the late 70s - it's not very convincing. However, some support is better than none - considering I paid a hell of a lot more for Madonna on the Reinvention Tour than I have for undoubtedly the best concert I've ever seen (28/08/07) and she had zero support when I saw her at Earl's court, I'd say I got a bargain! It's Groove Armada ft. Mutya by the way, but I fully agree. Best song I've heard in a while. And it's got link to Prince in the lyrics... I'm drivin' fast, I feel so fine

[Edited 8/30/07 18:08pm] I disagree. For me ex-sugababe Siobhan Donaghy has the strongest (and most interesting) voice. Her recent album 'Ghosts' is brilliant and I've seen her perform live twice so far this year. Her voice is amazing live. Mutya's album has not sold well and did not have great reviews generally when it was released earlier this year. Her recent single with Groove Armada (which is a stormer) is the highlight of Mutya's album and not at all representative of the rest of it

MUTYA is a big Prince fan and her latest song includes the line
'' i've got Prince singing HOT THING and I know every line'' She also did a duet with George Michael that was very good

I would rather have Mutya perform than Chaka anytime!
At least Mutya's music is modern and fresh. Chaka will just bang out the same three hits while her body tries desperately to climb out of its corset! Chaka is no legend, just a good has been singer. .

What a crock of sh*t!!! Mutya's first solo single based on an old Lenny Kravitz song. Modern?? That dire dull dated single with George Michael. 'Song For Mutya' - brilliant track thanks to the huge talent of Groove Armada. Prince has said many times that Chaka is his all-time favourite female vocalist. Chaka's forthcoming single with Mary J. Blige is very "modern and fresh". Titled 'Disrespectful', it seems quite apt reading your post. Finally as you're talking about "modern and fresh" music, would you call Prince's musical output these days "modern and fresh"??? [Edited 8/31/07 4:08am] [Edited 8/31/07 4:16am]

Seeing chaka khans body desperatly climb out of her corset is what I pay aftershow money 4!! But in all seriousness... The fact that a slice of recent pop pap replaces the woman who had such a great influence on Prince is not a good sign! As with the Mya aftershow i went 2, he may not be insprired 2 come out & play at all! At least if chaka was there u cud almost guarantee an appearance!! But if he decides 2 take the aftershow all 2 himself, I will 4giv Mutya 4 being so bland...

I like her voice, saw her at V Festival she was pretty good although I expected her to be a bit better, would still like to see her again. When I went on 11th no one supported, so anyone as a support act at all is a bonus - and if you don't want to listen to them you can get a drink or something to eat etc - support acts good or bad help to kill the time.
I'm going tommorow - does anyone know if she is supporting tommorow?

I think it'll be her as well. This is what it said in the OP of this topic: Staff at the O2 are now telling callers that Chaka has cancelled her support slots and is being replaced by Mutya

& Mutya successfully proved my hypothesis that she is just a very bland pop act. There was absolutely no dynamics 2 her show & also no reference 2 who she is supporting & almost no attempt at engaging the crowd.
While she had a good drummer, the set was yawn inducing. A real shame 4 an opener 2 a Prince concert. Even Mya, who I expected 2b rather similar, surprised me & proved that she had some substance! She remained very proffessional & enthusiastic even though the auditoriam was fairly empty and was getting a luke warm response. REPLACE MUTYA 4 SATURDAY NIGHT PLS!

I don't think that was very fair on her. M.I.A. is a little bit radical for most of prince's mainstream crowds, though if he hand-picked her to open, i'm really impressed that he knows and likes her. double wow. i would think MIA is a bit too...well, too many things...for prince's tastes.

Mutya has a really good voice but that's about it. She has absolutely no stange presence whatsoever. She just stood there. She hardly moved. She didn't engage with the crowd at all. As a warm-up for the main event she was stone cold in that respect. Good voice though. Won't take that away from her.
