Mutya supporting 31st August

Staff at the O2 are now telling callers that Chaka has cancelled her support slots and is being replaced by Mutya mad

Can you believe it?

Somebody please tell me that is a (bad) joke.....

Hasn't she only got about 3 songs so far? Unless she swallows her pride and does Sugababes songs.

I saw Sugababes last year (after Mutya left) and they were good but very very dull performers.

Song for Mutya is GREAT. Perhaps the best pop song of the year. Prince would have given his left nut to have written that track.

I don't mind Mutya either - that recent single of hers sampling the Lenny Kravitz song It Ain't Over Til It's Over I thought was pretty good.

Anybody know who might be supporting on the 1st September?

WOW

i can't believe i didn't hear about this!

i don't think she translates well live, though i love her prepared videos.

there's something a little too thin or skimpy to her live act. she needs something more to thicken it up and key up the excitement in her music. more dancers? some musicians? something. she's so visual, she needs her stage show to be less bare-boned. but i still love her. "kala" kicks my ass.

The sound was awful, especially at the start. She was not well appreciated.
I thought she was a terrible choice tbh.

I've not heard M.I.A's albums so maybe she's much better on record, but overall the crowd didn't take too well to her. I heard booing at one point. I don't think that was very fair on her.

I've never even heard of MIA or MYA or whatever her name is so out of those, I'd rather Mutya as at least I know who she is!

M.I.A. is a little bit radical for most of prince's mainstream crowds, though if he hand-picked her to open, i'm really impressed that he knows and likes her.

I quite liked Mutya's album. It was never going to be earth shattering but as fluffy pop goes it was ok. Saw her live when she came on and sung with George Michael at Earls Court and her voice isn't too bad. Shame that song she does with him is a pile of sappy poo though. lol

Could have got row C lower tier earlier but didn't bother as it would have been a rush for me tomorrow but now I want to go again. biggrin
RIP sad

Oh, and if this IS true, ie no Chaka, then I'm gutted. Mutya would be okay one night but not Fri AND Sat.

Wait, wait, there's support and there's aftershow. Support I couldn't care less about, it's the aftershows I want to know about.

Good point. Would have been good to have seen Prince and Chaka Khan do an aftershow (on Saturday of course cos that's when I'm going!)

Seems that Mutya is confirmed for Friday but no mention of Saturday yet.....

I got aftersho tickets when I found out (thought) chaka khan was playing, thinking that was as good indicator. But Mutya! She's pretty good but she's not Chaka.

As long as Prince himself shows up at the aftershow on Saturday then I don't particularly care if he's on stage with Mutya, Chaka Khan or Minnie Mouse. Sure Chaka Khan would have been great, there's no doubt about that but Prince is the one we all want!

Yes the Groove Armada FEATURING Mutya single.

Is it compulsory that all Prince's support acts on this tour are female and begin with an M and end with A then ? And is Madonna likely to be next .. eek

*edited after I checked that M.I.A is indeed female biggrin

Mutya is brilliant. Her solo album is fab and she's a superb live singer.

She played at the V festival a fortnight ago and I watched her set from the stage and she got a great reception, and yes, she does do some Sugababe songs which she was lead vocalist on - e.g. Ugly.

Shame about Chaka, but Mutya will be great. I'd recommend catching her.

Means probably a solo Prince aftershow though... eek biggrin
