Friday aftershow

As most of you will know Friday 3rd aftershow was a nonevent with Prince not even bothering to play a note! the whole thing was a nightmare! does anyone know if he was contracted to play all aftershows? ive heard people saying but he's nearly 50 years old etc what do you expect? well I tell you this if i'm paying £50 a ticket i expect him to turn up and do his thing! my ticket doesn't state aftershow party it says AEG LIVE PRESENT PRINCE OFFICIAL AFTERSHOW! this to me says that Prince will play... not only that I asked at the box office if he would be playing and they assured me yes he would. All tje extra hours of waiting only to be told at 4am go home was just shocking only i couldnt go home had to take flight back to glasgow so no sleep and all for what nothing i spent a lot of money on this trip and wish i hadnt it was a total waste of money. has anyone else managed to get a refund?

I feel you Kornie if you check out the other threads you are certainly not alone, I have emailed a complaint to Ticketdisaster and asked for a refund for the reasons you mentioned!

As for Prince HE CAN KISS MY ARSE after almost 20 years of buying his albums and taking his crap I am done, there are far more deserving musicians out there who are certainly much more appreciative of there audience then that wanker is!

Yes Kornie we we're there as well. It was my first P concert after hearing about how great it would be from my girlfriend the past 5 years. She has been a fan for 22 years. She was so full of P. Only music from him in our house. Now she is so done with it. I hardly reconize her anymore. I am going to try and get a refund via Ticketmaster AND I will go and try to get the money back via the CreditCard. We didn.t get what we paid for.

this is 4 the haters bitching about ... kisses kisses kisses kisses and go get some tonk on your way out please.

I gotta know though :
what did people expect they would get for those VIP tickets ? A meet-and-greet with the master himself ? Lobster & Oysters at the 3121 VIP lounge ? Someone throwing rose petals in front of you ? A seat next to freaking Jamie Oliver ??
Next time ... think about the poor people ... buy a 31.21. ticket and give the rest to Salvation Army or another good cause if you can miss it anyway.

LMAO over here lol and to make sure ... I'm going on 16/9, I paid 600+ euros to get there (plane,hotel,...) and I'm going to have loads of fun at the concert + the afterparty, regardless whether he shows up @ the latter ...

hey saskia - I can understand, that you both wanted 2 see prince at the aftershow. I flew in from Austria 2 see the shows on friday and saturday an also was not amused, that on friday we did see Dr. John instead of Prince. But hey - if your girlfriend is a Prince-Fan for 22 years she might have read / heart about the aftershows - sometimes they are even better concerts then the main act, sometimes they are just parties, and sometimes you see another band, that you wouldn't have awaited. I've been to an aftershow back in the 90's where Prince got on the stage at 4 in the morning and played till 6.30, and i've been to aftershows at the ONA-Tour in Zurich and Berlin, where Prince just sat in the same room with us and had a party. So - if you are a fan of his music (and I think, that's it all about) you won't be a hater from one day to the next. I had a great weekend in London, I saw 2 faboulus main acts and 2 aftershow/parties - 1 without prince, 1 with a little time of prince and my resume is just this: there is no better musician and showman out there !!! I just love him and his music!!!

greats from austria

btw. I will be in London again on 12 of september, and I already got my aftershow-tix - you can have a really good time at the indigo2!

There were people lying around the floor on Wednesday too. Didn't stop him playing then. Any artist might expect it when you play a licenced bar gone midnight.

I have seen the other threads on here, and at HQ. I can't see Prince giving a reason for not playing anywhere. Am I missing something?

I don't drink haven't for years it has nothing to do with been a "true fan", i have a mind of my own and choose not to drink. Has nothing to do wth Prince, my mam, dad, aunty, whatever. My choice. I don't need to drink to have a good time. The day i say to myself i don't drink because Prince doesn't i'll worry. If drinking makes you act like what some people on Friday acted like after a few beers then i'm happy knowing i am making the right choice.

Hey all,

I totally agree with everything your all saying about friday - i was angry. I called Ticketmaster today, spoke to a woman and she put me on hold, came back "sorry your refund request has been denied" i asked the be put onto someone higher than her - did htis - spoke to this twat - he was giving it the PR answers..."sorry sir, we did not sya Prince was going to be there" or "it was advertised as a Prince Aftershow Party" to which i corrected a) I didnt go EXPECTING Prince, but i expected a night that involved PRINCE i.e. music or something NOT Dr John! and b) Ticketmaster has never advertised "Prince aftershow 'party'" i print screened it the day i booked and it clealy says "prince aftershow" - Well anyways, i didnt let it go, about 30 mins later, i asked to be put onto someone higher who i can get help from, reluntly he did this. Spoke to a woman, she said "Hello Sir, Today we have had ALOT of calls simiar to yours, which means we are launching an enquiry, will we get back to you today or tomorrow" - this is all i wanted? I said "ok, thats great, if you call and inform me i will not get a full refund, i will take it further and file a claim against you - at least now i know SOMETHING is beeing done" and left it at that.

My advice to you - DO. NOT. GIVE. IN. We deserve a refund and we need to ALL demand it.

Ill keep you posted, in the meantime - DO NOT GIVE TICKETMASTER AN EASY RIDE GUYS!

Peace

P.s Prince "fanatics" - dont moan that we're moaning - £25 TO ME is alot of money, im a student, i booked 3 tickets and the night was a nightmere - so, pls save the "oh what did you expect" - its not right, whether Prince is involved or not. Simple.

Aftershow, Friday 3rd August

This was my experience…

We went to the main show first.

I was there with two friends. I had an aftershow purchased from Ticketmaster ages ago, and my friends did not. After listening to me going on about how great the aftershow would be, and being told by the guy at the box office at the 02 and the doorman that he would DEFINITELY be performing; we decided to get more tickets.

The box office guy told me they only had upstairs tickets left. I had a downstairs ticket. He told us the upstairs tickets could not get you downstairs so I purchased three tickets for upstairs so we could all stay together. When we entered, it was obvious that we upstairs tickets could get you downstairs, which was where we stayed.

So I ended up with 4 tickets for 3 people clearing indicating Prince official after show (not party) and being told by the official 02 box office a matter of hours before the show he was definitely on. I was even given a time, 1230 to 1am.

I enjoyed the main show, but my friends were not over impressed. As for the whole aftershow experience, it was a complete disgrace. We eventually left at about 3am. It completely soured the night and I feel very strongly that funds should be refunded.

As for loads of people being drunk, you can’t have it both ways. If Prince is going to play a large arena then there simply are not enough hard core fans (I consider myself one) to fill the arena night after night. So you get a broad spectrum, some people are there because hey, Prince is in town, its £ 35, why not? As for the drinking, the aggression is wrong but let me say the friends I was with had plenty to drink before, during and afterwards and in the aftershow, we hung around near the bar or where there was plenty of space. There was no need for ANYONE with drinks to be fighting down the front - everywhere was a good view in Indigo and it was not even jam packed.

Look at it another way, if he had come on stage there would have been no tension and bad atmosphere. Personally, I don't recall a bad atmosphere; just that Dr. John killed the excitement in the room and it because very subdued.

Let's face it, without being disrespectful to Dr. John and his fans, who on earth wants to see him after a Prince gig?

I have main and aftershow tickets for the 24th and am going expecting to be disappointed by the aftershow. It’s the only way.

i was sober beacuase i chose to be, so that i could remember the night in all it's full glory- not bacause prince doesn't drink. i respect the man but do have a mind of my own. big arena or not it was the drunk and aggressive people that spoiled it for many true fans and most probably for prince himself.

I was another mug who fell for the Friday aftershow scam! I attended the o2 concert with 5 other friends & relatives, of which I was the only real Prince fan so to speak.
I managed to persuade my companions that Prince aftershows were the stuff of legend & at £25 a ticket this was an opportunity not to be missed. So I bought 6 tickets from the Indigo2 box office before the main gig. I was not told in any way by the young chap that took my £150 there was a chance that Prince wouldn't perform.
Well, after the gig ( my 8th & most disappointing Prince gig ever, not a patch on seeing him in Washington DC in 2004 ) we took our upstairs seats in indigo2.

I remember Dr. John saying Prince would be on the stage soon, then a hell of a long wait! My girlfriend went to ask a member of staff what was going on & she was told that Prince wouldn't be performing as his drummer hadn't turned up(?)
We were told that we had to go back to the box office the following day, where we would receive a full refund. It later became apparent that this was just a way of removing people from the venue with a minimum of fuss.

The following day we returned to the box office & were flatly told "we're not giving any refunds". The girl I spoke to said " You should have been told when you bought your tickets that you're not guaranteed a performance by Prince". When I pointed out that I'd been served by the chap sat next to her and he definitely hadn't told me this, they simply resorted to " well, it says aftershow, it doesn't say "concert"
The only thing I got from them the promoters email address & that I should send a complaint to.

Now I've spent a few years attending Prince gigs & I've been unfortunate before (Birmingham HMV 1993 anyone? How about the Tressino's nightclub aftershow disappointment?) but my friends & relatives haven't, & now I feel like my hero has let them down, a substandard gig & an afterNOshow. A refund would get me off the hook & maybe make them think about attending another Prince gig one day.... sad
I've never been one for this thing obsession...

Evonomis, you are spot on. I was specifically told by the yong guy at the box office he would definitely be performing. I too then bought three more tickets in addition to the one I already had. So it cost me £ 100. Not happy.

I'm going to try to get my cash back. You have to.
