Well the 25th show was my third show and I have to say that this was the best. Not becuase of the crowd interaction, as he did more of that on the 11th nor the quantity of songs like he did on the 3rd. No, for me, the main show just worked. The set list was spot on...mixing new with old with some covers and a one or two relative obscurities. I think we are in the midst of something quite wonderful in London, the likes of which we may never ever see again. Anyhow, things kicked off (very surprsingly) with Planet Earth (which is actually my fav track from the new album ) and then what a treat,1999.....he has obviously changed his mind about not playing this again! Take Me with U and Guitar swiftly followed...by this time it looked as though anyone with a pulse was up dancing even if they did not know the words! Cream came up next...and then after that a stonking version of U Got the Look... Then Shh....you know this song is criminally underarted....you hope that people who heard that go out and get the Gold Experience...I digress but would it not be wonderful if he played Gold...?
Musicology/Prince and the Band was tight (although I preferred the version on the 11th) and then a couple of treats for us London folks..Honky Tonk Woman followed by a lovely version of the Long and Winding Road...but why oh why did so many people choose to wander of to the bar...can't people just appreciate the nusic without a beer?!
And then to the piano medley....in a way it is a shame the keyboard is not in the middle of the stage.... even though the songs were performed flawlessly it would have been good for him to do even more like he did on the One Nite Alone tour...a minor gripe!.....Then Black Sweat with a bass solo! This song is cool...it was funny seeing so many people shake to this one even if they did not know it!...Kiss and Purple Rain then followed which simply brought the house down... I feel for you and If I was your girlfriend compromised the first encore... both performed wonderfully....The second encore was Crazy, Controversy (that bass line!) and he finished off with Nothing Compare...shrieking as if his life depended on it... and that was that...but nearly everyone that I overheard were simply blown away by the show and his skills on the bass, lead guitar,and keyboards!....stunning!

As for the aftershow we got a full NPG led by Maceo going through some old school sould and jazz until the early hours...the crowd was kept pumped and almost did not notice that Prince was not there!....I partcularly enjoyed the free form playing and the stop start song as I'll call it....

Got home (still buzzing) at 4.....roll on the next show!
