Aug 25th quickies I think people are cottoning on to the fact that P starts quite late... It's 7.30 now and I'm hoping for Beverly Knight as support tonight but the arena is practically empty still... she'd have her work cut out! I'm rubbish with playlists but I'll try to post about what's happening if not during then straight after the show while queuing for the Aftershow! Signal is bad here - I'm low down on the floor, barely 10 ft away from stage but at the back (E1). Is anyone else trying to do live updates? "John Bream, why you being fire-hydrant-head-looking..., you big seven eyed, Grover-from-Sesame-Street-looking… why you being dot dot dot?"

There are no people dressed in purple around me, that's not good... I hope folks here r up 4 having a good time! (at least so far there's none of that chat on the mobiles, "i'm here, heeeere, woohooohooo (frantic arm waving, jumping up and down and splitting neigbour's ear drums with high pitched wailing), what do you mean you can't see me in a crowd of 23,000...?") Gone 8 pm, no support so far - looks like tonight we'll go without. Just saw the lightening/spotlight movers climb up those flimsy "ladders" to their nests up there... Quite cool job if ur not scared of heights and don't mind the support under your feet moving and swaying... Yes, we Londoners are super lucky (this time!) and I think we do know it. Well, I'm one Londoner who does, anyway! Couldn't appreciate these 21 nights more, and the whole buzz throughout.
My signal here in lower part of arena is rubbish, long times where phone is down altogether. There's that haunting, slow melody over the PA, something played on a violin, flute and keyboards, what IS that... Anyway, I recognise it as what comes on not too long b4 the show. So excited! People in upper tiers trying to get a Mexican wave going... Yap, they succeeded. 8.40 now, arena completely full. Amazing how he can fill this monster of a stadium night after night.. ----- He came on at 9 ish and opened with Planet Earth!!! . Shhh (i think) sung with total emotion, "London, what's my name, you gotta scream my name, scream my name", awesome guitar, slick dance movements. Also, awesome solo by CC.
Musicology with more solos for CC, and her husband, and Maceo. Chants of Maaaceo, Freks are on this side and Funky London. Dancers from audience on stage, full version of Honky Tonk Woman, Shelby rocking the house! The Long and Winding Road! I'm a huge Beatles fan, this version is a real surprise. Piano recital - teasing us with Little Red Corvette! Oh no, full version. Diamonds and Pearls. Some songs I don't recognise, but brilliant, playful keyboard playing! Now Sometimes It Snows in April, full version, extravagant keyboards...
OMG, band back on and it's If I Was Your Girlfriend with him doing a super funky bass solo. And then Black Sweat! Kiss, Purple Rain and he's off. Encore 2: Shelby on Crazy (who is that by, originally? it's such a great song, i have to get it! Or is it Shelby who makes it so great?). And Nothing Compares to you with P going, "yeah, I mean it London!" SHow finished 10.40, so I think 1hr 45 show. Fantastic night, loads of energy, loads of great songs! I thought the Aftershows were for getting close but actually, seeing him so close up during the main show is something else again! He really looked like he enjoyed it. Whenever the crowd know the words or whoop really loud there is this genuine smile. fantastic to see that. Sorry for spelling mistakes, Freaks On this Side - Freks might be an interesting alternative... In queue for Aftershow now, but it'll be impossible to post from in there IF he comes on. Too crowded and they're like hawks in there watching for mobiles. So I'll update u when i'm on the bus home... Man, what a show! I'm totally buzzing. Said to the girl next to me in queue, "HOW awesome was that?" and she goes, "TOO awesome!" Too right! During the show the woman in front of me said, "I noticed u knew the 1st song (err, i probably sang too loud...), what was that?" When I told her she clearly hadn't heard of it but said, "That was beautiful, I'm gonna get i!" I tried to explain it's on her free CD but it's too loud in there to actually communicate. She'll have a nice surprise when she gets home. Most people even in the front section i was in didn't know the new songs! Quite surprised at that. Also, i and guy next to me were only people dancing our butt off in the vicinity, what's up with that?? Anyway, had the best time! Typing all this is a little distracting, that's the only thing! I don't think i'll post as often in the future concerts i'll go to. But I know what it's like if u r sitting at home - I find it's excruciating when i don't know what's happening... Great, unusual show tonight. More bits to add to what's been posted...
The piano medley was : Little Red Corvette (full) Diamonds And Pearls (first verse and chorus) The Beautiful Ones Condition of The Heart Do Me Baby How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore Sometimes It Snows In April D&B got a great cheer and he did more than I think he planned to as a result. Sometimes It Snows... got the biggest cheer - kinda odd eh? Shelby came on stage with the dancing fans and sang a song which I didn't know - maybe called 'It's Over' (?) which then led into The Long And Winding Road which was very very horn-y and quite dischordant in places. To be honest, a lot of the crowd either didn't seem to pick up on what it was or care. Honky Tonk Women went down far better than The Long And Winding Road, it has to be said. Planet Earth was a great opener with four massive half-discoballs sending lights all over the venue which looked brilliant but again, it was a bit quiet compared to the other traditional openers he's had. Lots of covers tonight - Crazy, Long And Winding, Shelby's song, Honky Tonk... hmmm, so many hits, so little time... hmmm... He played the whole of Planet Earth with a white glove on his left hand which seemed a little random. The guitar solos in Shhh! were the best I've heard yet. He played Purple Rain on his brown normal shaped guitar - not the shaped blue one but the song was the absolute crowd highlight tonight. It was very much a Saturday night casuals crowd. The security where I was (Block 107) were literally pulling people out of the arena who were caught with cameras. Beware people - if they catch you you miss 2 songs minimum going by the people caught around me. One other thing - tonight was all about wearing white - he started in a white trousers with abstract coloured stripe shirt and changed into a white suit and then a white frilly shirt. I swear, the people in the seats around C and D blocks would have had some disturbingly clear views of 'little Prince' as I could see it clearly back in Block 107 so it's amazing he didn't have their eyes out down there on the floor! LOL Oh - and one other thing - I didn't hear a single boo tonight! Not one. Hurrah! [Edited 8/25/07 16:47pm] Tell him u live on a lilypad with a horny toad

The security where I was (Block 107) were literally pulling people out of the arena who wer[/u]e caught with cameras. Beware people - if they catch you you miss 2 songs minimum going by the people caught around me. Yes, same story down on the floor. Lots of security eying up the crowd, saw them challenge a few punters with cameras. I got nervous just phoning a couple of people (to give them a taste of what they were missing... another story). Still don't understand the stiffs in the VIP sections. Most sat on their stools for the entire show, didn't look into it at all. But good to see some crowd on stage... and dead funny watching P keep his distance from them Long And Winding Road was awesome. That's a beautiful song, not one I ever imagined I'd see P play. With that and Honky Tonk Woman, it was like classic British pop night Although my block (the "Freaks" side) went for it pretty well, these audiences are not like the late-eighties to mid-nineties UK audiences. People seem to treat the O2 gigs more like a trip to the cinema... which is a shame, because it was always the case that the more enthusiasm from the crowd, the more you got back from Himself (remember the Sheffield Arena "You know, let's pay the fine!" show?). But then, with his biggest fans scattered all over the arena instead of packing the front blocks, I suppose it's always going to look that way. Still, good show tonight.

Thanks for adding, guys - good to hear other people's comments, threat is starting to look a lot more rounded now. You sound a lot more coherent (and observant) than me! One last thing, when he was at the keyboard tonight i thought, wow he's playing so brilliant , and then spontaneously remembered this comment he made (in the Giant interview), "i AM music". Amen to that.
(One last girly bit, once when he came over our side - I was quite close to the stage - I swear he was looking right at me for about 3 seconds. And I wasn't even singing at that moment, just held his eye. One last awesome: awesome.) WOW, i think U have just perfectly pointed out exactly how 2nite was to compare 24th with 25th, well, that would be interesting to solve the crowd 2nite were awful No coronation street omnibus, so lets go see Prince aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Crazy is a song by Gnarls Barkley and was number 1 here in the UK for 9 weeks, then the Band (a singer called Cee-lo and a brilliant producer called Dangermouse) deleted it because they didn't want it to be one of those that everyone began to hate because they were sick of hearing it all the time.
The Long and Winding Road! OMG! Actually, no, this deserve the full spelling - OH MY GOD! I heard Come Together on the opening night but this would have been something else! __________
