The Long and Winding Road! OMG! Actually, no, this deserve the full spelling - OH MY GOD! I heard Come Together on the opening night but this would have been something else! Thanks so much for that info! (9 weeks at number 1, how did I miss that??) OMG, Come Together is one of my all time Beatles favourite! Oh, would SO have loved to have heard it! I thought it was even better than Friday's show although my fellow prince.orger I went with preferred Friday's.
I was ecstatic to see him play the beautiful ones and a bit of do me, baby because I did'nt think he'd play those! I thought the crowd was better overall even if the 2 lanky yorkshire lads sat in front of me were treating it like a football match! Some people left early too which was a shame but they were singing as they left so I didn't get why they left! Did anyone catch one of the twinz fall down into the O bit of the stage? I thought she'd had it but was impressed to see her dancing again a few minutes later. My friend said perhaps there was an army of clones... On Friday I was in row Z of 111 but tlast night I was in row J of 114 so it made a massive difference, so much closer!! And he made a little more effort to come over our end which was fantastic!! I'm soooo going again even if I go on my own!!!

Prince was great last night, the night had a much more polished feel to it than the other nights I've been. I still haven't decided if that's a good thing to me or not!! If I was taking a casual/non Prince fan, last night would've been a good one to see.
Agree with the cinema comment - worst one so far I've been to for the audience - I kept being tapped at the start for standing up and having fun (this was lower tier, and no, tapping my shoulder aint' going to make me sit down). People 6-7 seats and 2-3 rows away from me were drowning out Prince during the slow numbers with their foghorn conversations (that shouldn't even be possible given the size of those speakers). But I did see life near me when Purple Rain came on - but things died swiftly after that. It was the furthest back I've sat so far (mid- lower tier) so might have had something to do with it. Enjoyed the aftershow (my first!) despite no Prince.

Don't all jump on me, but I think Planet Earth is a terrible opener. It's a good song, don't get me wrong. But after the Hall of Fame intro "Please wecome the incomparable Prince...", you need something up-tempo and preferably, brazen! Like a LGC or 1999 or even Guitar. Planet Earth takes too long to build up, is not well-known enough and people are still seated for the first 6-7 minutes of the concert. When it appeared as an encore (like on opening night) it was much more effective. PorterUk. PS. I've been to 5 concerts, 8 aftershows (4 P, 2 NPG, 1 Dr J, 1 no-show). I've tickets for more. I'm seizing the opportunity to see this much Prince with both hands and my credit card in my teeth! Thanks to Prince for choosing to do this in the UK - and thanks even more for picking an Arena 5 minutes from my home!!! To all the Orgers who think Londoners don't appreciate this, we do. Don't be jealous of us. We're all fans here. "What did the five fingers say to the face?" SLAP!! -- Rick James, habitual line-stepper.

I second that. He did 'Honky Tonk Women' by the Rolling Stones, had a brief interlude and then returned with 'Long and Winding Road' (in what appears to be the slow jam segment, reserved for 'Satisfied'). Whilst I'd much prefer him to do Pink Cashmere, Empty Room, Scandalous, Insatiable or one of his own ballads, I did enjoy this rendition very much. he even Princified it at the end. Bit of funk in the arrangement there. having seen a few of these concerts, I'd stake my salary on one-off songs like L&WR are acting as fuel to keep Prince interested in the main concerts. He clearly loves the aftershows and I feel the concerts are somewhat prone to him becoming bored. After the week off, he came back with an improved setlist, more definable (and perhaps sustainable) timeing of 1hr 45m and these little gems of songs may well give him something to look forward too throughout the performance. Just my thoughts. "What did the five fingers say to the face?" SLAP!! -- Rick James, habitual line-stepper.

Thanks for sharing last night! ("unfortunately" I was dragged out for a couple of drinks by a friend, so I only just caught up with yall). Seems like the show was brilliant.
I can only speak for myself, but I don't think non-Londoners/overseas fams really are jealous (I'm quite happy for you ), let alone we lament the fact that it may be difficult (for some probably impossible) to attend one single show of this European tour. Ok, don't stop dancing! [Edited 8/26/07 5:07am]

Yeah that makes sense - I seem to recall he went from U Got the Look into the beginning of Sssh, as I was still recovering from U Got when C.C started laying into the drums
Thanks ! | |

thanks for all the corrections, guys, much appreciated! Have updated Playlist, is that right now? I definitely remember U Got The Look but I didn't write down at the time where it came and now I cannot remember for sure...
Yes, Shhh guitar was awesome - it is always awesome, every time I heard it so far. U Got the Look seems to feature (almost?) every night. Yeah, not sure if Planet Earth worked for most of the audience as an opener. They were up (at least in my section) from the word go but most didn't recognise it. It sounded really great though, so once it got going I think people liked it, even if they didn't know it. Anyway, it worked wonders for me! (And why not play to the fans?!) (No raspery beret or let's go crazy 2nite) After show also was funkin' with NPG... on the whole it was a beautiful night! There is this one thing I forgot to tell you about. I think it was during Crazy when Shelby was at the front and Price at the back, doing back-up vocals. When he came back towards the middle, as he passed, Mr Hayes stretched out his hand to touch Prince. I though it was one of those gestures that says, man this is so cool. Not a high 5, a sort of 'touch base with ya' kind of gesture. It was really sweet. Prince didn't expect it and almost passed without taking it but then last moment he touched Mr Hayes hand - and then grinned broadly as he went back to the middle. Did anyone else see that? It was one of those moments that just said how much there were all enjoying it. Great weekend - especially concidering the aftershow Friday night! The above setlist is allmost correct now I think, but he played How Come U Don't Call Me before Do Me Baby - and that 'bluesy jazzballad' by Shelby between Honky Tonk Woman and Long And Winding Road - anyone know the title? Planet Earth started 8:58-ish, video intro started 8:54-ish. Prince funkin' the bass on Black Sweat, not If I Was Your Girlfriend - if my notes are correct.. A 6 min break between Purple Rain and I Feel 4 U.
