Why do Prince gigs bring out the worst in some?

After reading the reports on the first night it seems that as usual the gigs are bringing out the worst aspects of some. I've been going since '88 and have seen 23 gigs so far and at every one there's a handful of geeks that spoil it. I would have thought that we'd have grown up a bit by now. So can we please all calm down a bit, there was a time when you would have killed tobe so close so please be grateful and respect each other.

PEACE.

... and can I just also add that it's respectful, when Prince is sitting down chilling for us, playing his keyboard, to not talk all through it. The people in the aisle were really bugging the rows they were next to, cos there were some loud voices whispering/talking all through this bit of the performance.

I'm sorry - don't mean to get onto you guys who did it, but you gotta realise, when everything goes quiet and we're sitting next to you, we can hear you as loud as we can hear Prince ... when you're told to sit, just sit, chill and enjoy ... don't talk about it for 10 minutes while he's on stage! biggrin

Nothing and no one spoiled my evening - how can it be spoiled? If some people want to discuss what is happening, that's how they enjoy the gig. It's loud enough to hear Prince over anyones whispering!!

So you are saying, as long as you enjoy it, sod everyone else?

I can understand it if people don't want someone blabbing away next to them. If people want to talk, why not go outside?

Each to their own, but when one impacts on the other, you have to stop and think.

Then again, maybe you don't.

Hi Therapy

I don't really mind people talking but this was very noisy for us who were right next to them ... it wasn't just a few words either - it went on for around 10 minutes despite the people around me asking them to stop. It didn't spoil my evening, but it was inconsiderate to those around them, and disrespectful to Prince, who was performing up there, imo. (btw I didn't mind the noise during the non-piano bits ... didn't notice it at all, but when he's creating an "atmosphere" and it's relatively quiet, then it can be a little irritating because you naturally pick up on the sounds nearest to you).

Yeah, I get your point and I understand why it may have irritated you. I just imagined that nothing would have distracted me, that's my point. Sorry to hear that you were affected by that...

Therapy, to be fair, we don't know each other, so its hard to judge someone.

I remember my first show, and the effect it had on me. It can take over! I understand that.

However, enjoyment at someone elses expense seems a bit harsh.

I hope one day you and I will be MPGMC members and dance on the stage, at no ones expense!

I don't agree with your view, but...thats life!
