London Second Report (updated set list)

Just to build on the first Report, brilliant show. 2 hours 45 mins.

A COMPLETE cock up with the NPGMC seats. Everyone was given allocated seats so we relaxed in the foyer to avoid crushung, but the greedy bastards that got in first, took seats not allocated to them and refused to move.

Soundcheck was a let down. 15 mins of Days of wild, that that was it.

Setlist: From memory

The Rainbow children
Muse 2 the Pharoah
The Work Part 1 (great version)
Extrodinary
Mellow
1+1+1=3 (love rollercoaster)
Strange Relationship
Strollin
Bambi (very heavy!)
Whole Lotta Love (even heavier!)
Gotta Broken Heart Again
The ride
Pass the Peas
Family Name
Take Me With U
Raspberry Beret
Everlasting Now

Piano Medley including One Nite Alone, U're gonna C me, Adore, Do me Baby, I want to Be your lover, The most beautiful girl in the world, Diamonds and Pearls, Condition of the Heart

Return of the band for full versions of

Nothing Compares 2 U
The Beautiful Ones (great version)
How Come U Dont call

Then for the second encore

Empty Room (damn heavy guitar version!)
The Ladder (wow!)
All The Critics Love U in London

Prince word a beige suit and white shirt and tie, then black for the encores.

Candy and Maceo was good

For me, The Ladder and Empty room were the highlights!

Afterparty at Mayfair, but I have to go to work!

(sorry for the edits, keep remembering more songs!)

No he didn't. There were a few chants here and there, but not a proper song.

The show itself was pretty much the same as the first part of the US leg.

Welcome inclusion was Bambi and Whole Lotta Love. VERY heavy versions!

It was the encores that made it.

First the Piano section, (with I wanna be your lover?)

Then when the band joined we got proper versions of

Nothing Compares 2 U
The Beautiful Ones
The Ladder
How Come U Dont call

Then for the second encore

Empty Room (damn heavy guitar version!)
Something else which I,ve forgotten
All The Critics Love U in London

Candy was good

I woulda pulled them outta the seat by their fu@*ing hair!
Sound like a cool show tho-ROLL on Manchester!!

Just to clarify. There seats were never meant to be allocation, the apollo admitted that it was an honest error on there end from a language dialect barrier. Those who were at the front and refused to move were not greedy bastards there were simply doing what they should have been doing, what everyone believe was the situation when they arrived outside. Remember the reason they were at the fron was because they got their earlier. How do you think they would have felt if they would have given the seat up only to find out later that there was never meant to be allocation. I can hand on my heart gaurentee that not one person turned up under the impression they had allocated seats, and it just seemed like a bonus to those who were allocated seats up front. But that bonus was taken away, which yes was a bitch, but merely put people back in the situation they believed to have been in all day long.

I can fully understand the frustration for yourself and those in a similiar situation but you can't blame the fans for holding their ground when they new their was an error. And had it have turned out that it was meant to be allocation and their wasn't a mix up, those fans were prepared to move. It just so happens they new that was not the case, and were waiting for confirmation of that.

Having said all that, as prince conveyed to one fan, you know who you are, it is better to be back there because the stereo system works better there.

So he didn't do Avalanche? That's interesting...

Maybe it's too much of an American issue he doesn't want to bring over to Europe.

Gotta agree with everyone, the concert was fantastic. Empty room live, never thought i would hear that.

Got there early and managed to get in the front row, which happened to be my allocated seat, and managed to get my program signed by most of the band, however during the show
non fan club members kept on coming down the sides of the auditorium and pushing there way into the front row (at the side) which ended with one of the shits nicking my program.

Cheers mate !!!

Correction. Not that I was one of those people! But this is what happened... Prince was already on stage when people went in. They started taking their allocated seating and He, himself, told them to ignore that and sit where they liked ! So if you want to blame anybody, blame Prince !!

Agreed, it was a cock up, but it got far worse when the people who got through the doors first didn't stick to the allocated sitting.

Sure by moaning to Prince they felt they had the right to then take the front rows, but THE VENUE run the seating. Its the law, and you KNEW what the people behind were expecting.

I saw many people who had queued for hours, but when the announcement came that the seats were allocated, they left the queue and relaxed. These people ended up at the back. Not because of any confusion, but because the people at the front of the queue ingored the ONLY rule we were ALL told.

We all knew, like it or not, that the venue had allocated seats. So to break that was only ever going to cause massive problems.

The people that took the front seats which were not allocated to them, were the cause of the biggest problems. They are hiding behind the "Confusion" or "Prince said" thing, to make themselves seen justified in there selfishness.

Did anyone say "Hey Prince, if we move to the front we are gonna cause hell for the people coming in who have been told they have allocated seats?"

Before anyone asks, I wasn't badly effected, I got row 3. I just felt sorry for the people fucked over by a selfish few.

Basically they couldn't win ! There were fans who waited all day to be at the front, only to be told it was allocated seating, and they were row 15! And people turning up a 6PM who had front row ! What would be fair about that ?
I made the mistake of going to the bar too, but because I was on my own ( sad ) I fitted in nicely in gap on the forth row. smile
Everyone went there thinking it was non-allocated seating, it's been like that at every NPGMC soundcheck he's done ! It was only the venue that cocked up and told people it was allocated, when it was NEVER was.

Sounds kinda like the mix-up we had in NY. Someone, preferably from the NPGMC, needs to coordinate with the venues a little better.

But hey, still a kick ass show right. Just be happy you were able to attend. So many can't afford the money or the time.

Those who attend the concerts are very fortunate indeed. As someone else has said:
