I'm just going off what the guy told me.... and what was released on 3121, if there aint no shows after, then there will be a big aftershow.. RIP

I understand what you mean and agree totally.. But for a £25 gamble, I would certainly risk it... After all that was reported I made the gamble.
There were 2 staff watching the queues. One was a small chubby white guy and the other was a thin black guy. The white dude was an arrogant arse but the other guy was helpful and told us that Prince was performing whilst we were in the queue. I aint being racist so don't even go there. As you may know from my earlier posts I am a fat white guy too...lol. So if you are in the queue, look for the tall thin black guy. He was really helpful and also asked politely not to use any cameras just in case... whereas the white guy was just a complete dick and tried to boss everyone around..

It's just that not everyone knows that Prince might not play. I'd gamble with £25 on this every time and last Saturday certainly made it all worthwhile.RIP

I REALLY WANNA KNOW thanks. If I'm not mistaken, they were of the variety 'Dame Thora Hird', and were grown by Prince on his allotment in Walthamstow. The petals were plucked at 10.33pm on Saturday by the Twinz estranged half cousin who had been bathing in the breast milk of teenage mothers from Uzbekistan. The petals were then arrange by naked quadriplegic orphans into the secret symbol of the Holy Sphincter that originate from a lost people who once lived in the foothills of Hackney Central who were wiped out by the congestion charge in May 2001. Their bloated remains can still be found at the shrine of the Big Mac in Mare Street. A truly Tragic tale. thank you so for the most elaborate, concise and imaginative response i've received on the ORG.

It's all totally true, I have it on very good authority that Prince won the prize for the best standard Rose at this years Walthamstow Front Garden of the year competition. His hanging baskets only got a commendation. Honest.

From what I've read and heard off the board, it seems like 18th August was yet again the date for another legendary aftershow, shades of Den Haag '88?
I was enjoying a short break in Stockholm and what I thought was a welcome respite from the tour, but it seems I missed a really special night... great to hear you all had a ball

One thing that made Small Club so legendary, was that he played lots of unreleased own songs. Didn't do that this time. But it certainly felt legendary and more to me, still does.

This afternoon, I had a sudden flashback from last Saturday aftershow, when Prince arrived, briefly looked round at the audience, walked up to the keyboard and sat down whilst Cora's drums started off, and Prince then kicked in with the Superstition intro... I can't get that moment out of my mind... Powerful! [Edited 8/23/07 16:07pm]

Almost a week on and this is still resonating in my head. I think this is only my second post here (long time lurker, actually I forgot my username AND password). But it was the best gig I've ever been to. I'd been at the Fri main show (really good) and aftershow (enjoyed this hugely, the band were hot) even tho P didn't show. I had better seats for main show on Sat, which - although shorter - was the better show for me. Finally got to hear Girls & Boys live after all these years. And the opening number (The Entertainer or When the Sain'ts Go Marching In?) was just the best intro I've ever seen. Reminded me of the start of Live And Let Die
But the aftershow was something else. Words really are letting me down as I try to put down what it meant to be there. Again I was happy enough to just see the band. The atmosphere was great even before anything happened. Was up front, to the left of the stage, by the steps. Saw the chap in the trilby dancing his little cotton socks off. Enjoyed the brief group chat with fans by the stage (I was the one who chipped in that Girls & Boys came after 3121 - shaved head, big grin). Watched as the stage was set up, petals were swept away, keyboards moved around. And just after 1am, when I figured they still had to put more gear on stage having seen the previous night's set-up, out he struts, in hot orange pimp suit and cavalier hat, crowned with giant fluffy feather. And of course, the Indigo erupted. A week on and bits are still coming back to me - P on stage tearin' up some of my favourite Stevie songs. The crowd singing "Help Me" from The Ballad of Dorothy Parker. Sweet Thing (I nearly died when they started this). Stratus was hot. The crowd chanting. The two footballers wives who tried to push their way up front and got sent packing (Ha!). Getting pushed forward to centre stage by the enthusiastic crowd (and by the [French?] guy with shaved head) yet still being able to enjoy the grooves. But just being there, soaking everything up, is an experience I will carry with me forever. It's not often you get to see someone who has provided the soundtrack to most of your life that close, and performing so well. Playing keys, playing guitar, and singing better than I've ever heard him do in the past. It really was an event, and I feel so lucky to have been there. I had no expectations from the night, and I feel rewarded since with memories that I will play over in my head for as long as I can recall them. Don't think I've stopped beaming since So to my cuz and hubby (I can't thank U enough), and everyone there, the Indigo, and Prince & NPG - thank you for a beautiful night. It Ain't Ova! I could'nt clap because of all the people leaning on me and hanging off me.
Especially some w.a.g. in a purple dress using me to hold on to while she picked things up from the floor, so i just managed to get one arm up and give the peace sign
