The coolest AFTERSHOW - so far... [Cool]
The Moment Prince entered the stage dressed in the supercool red outfit with a hat that reminded you about pictures taken from the late Purple Rain era was simply the coolest moment ever in my aftershow experience. And starting the show by playing keyboard doing Superstitious was just amazing to see and experience.
"If the toilet seat is up - put it down" [Biggrin]

Cool moment number two:
Satisfied with the incredible lyrics about man - women relationships made the place crack up in laughter. Hilarious! I was so surprised when I heard the first sentence.... biggrin This guy has a lot of humour. As the Twins once said , he could have been a brilliant comedian if he ever wanted to change career. smile

Cool moment number three:
Prince laying down in the sofa at the stage with his guitar , playing some air guitar while the band continiued jamming.

Cool moment number four:
Prince humourously and kindly asking the band to leave the stage.. and than asking Mr Maceo Parker to enter the stage for some serious Saxophone playing..

Cool moment number five:
"Freaks on this side" and two other choruses running at the same time... at the end of the show

Also, Shelby did two or three amazing songs and Marva also did one covers.

C.C. Dunham? aka Cora
Yesterday she looked supercool in her sunglasses while playing the base drum at an incredible high tempo during her solo.

Renato:
An amazing solo.. once again...

PHOTOS:
It's is just to bad photos are not allowed as Prince and the band changes outfits at every show and several times during each show. I personally think Prince's current fashion sense is the best I have ever seen. These costumes etc should definitely be documented, ideally professionally as a 21 nights in London book or something. Similar to what was done after the LoveSexy tour. Or if they could show more pictures from the shows at 3121.com...

Also nice to meet and talk to so many nice and friendly people at the aftershow including the band. Thanks for an amazing night! C U next time smile

yeah wish I could have had a pic of that hat smile but my memories are good smile

Me too, it will be hard to go back to normality after such an experience, let alone try and describe it to people who weren't there!

Btw I think I saw you, did you stay and dance afterwards?

my god...after um-ing and ahh-ing about going to after party (and closely monitoring this site) i decided to go last minute on sat night!!!

and it would probably be the best gig i have ever seen in my life (and i go to plenty)....to see prince playing Stevie Wonder tunes i thought id died and gone to heaven!!!

i was also a little bit surprised at his keyboarding prowess...i knew he plays but he always plays himself down as a keyboardist (especially in keyboard magazine!!).

Renato and Maceo were absolutely fantastic. And it just seemed like everyone on stage was just having too much fun!!! Being the keyboard geek that i am i loved it how Renato had a Nord Electro/Stage and prince was playing a Kurzweil (my keyboards WOHOO!!!!).

btw is Chance Howard still the other keyboardist? and when did John Blackwell get replaced?

Anyone else get to meet Mr Hayes at the aftershow? I shook his hand and told him the show was amazing, he seemed genuinely touched! A cool (and very tall) guy! Also, before the aftershow concert started, Greg Boyer dashed past the bar.

My first aftershow and one never to be forgotten!!!!

The hat rules!

Greg Boyer walked past the bar shortly before they went onstage, tried to catch up with him but he had disappeared! Had a great view of backstage, watching the singers and band jamming whilst P was on stage!

Gosh, where do I start?

This was my second aftershow this year (first one was on Aug 1st) and I feel so blessed that he turned up both times. I still can’t believe how good last night was though. To start with, I noticed that a lot of efforts were put into the stage deco: rose petals spread all over the floor, oriental touches here and there, cushions, couches, etc. As for the show itself, it was simply mind-blowing: the sound and the entertainment were coming from all directions! It was like watching never ending fireworks, there was so much to look at and listen to. To add to the perfection of the night, I had managed to find a little cozy space at the front with plenty of room to dance. And dancing I did! I was so close to the stage that Maceo‘s horn was nearly blowing in my face! And Prince was on such top form (btw we’ll never stress enough how good a choice that funky red feathery hat was). Those old blaxploitation songs he played at the beginning announced the funky tone of the night. That included instrumental 'Stratus' (Billy Cobham’s) one of my old times favorites' which he had also played on the 1st August aftershow.

I had never seen Prince that close before eek eek and whilst he was doing a bit of hand touching I grabbed the opportunity to give him a tiny silvery envelope (optimistically prepared in advance) containing a "thank u for coming tonight card". He looked very surprised and examining it closer said "What is this?" to my disappointment sad (but one can’t have everything), he then threw it back into the front of the audience and it landed on the table top next to me but I picked it up and threw back towards the mic area (I’m the persistent kind). Later on he noticed it again as he was playing guitar and pushed it gently out of his way with the tip of his boot. Aawwh... Still, I am so grateful to have been part such a privileged crowd. One final thing: the atmosphere in the audience was wonderful: lots of friendly people (big thank you to that nice chap from Clapham who gave away that nice space!).

As cloudguitar’s already put it: "Bliss Sheer Bliss".

I actually saw you. I was in front on Kings row. Saw the whole exchange. I couldnt figure out exactly what it was though.

A girl at the front on the right I think was a little overexcited and he insinuated that she was drunk or needed another drink, something along those lines anyway...

sorry if i didn't come across as tactful there!...didn't mean to seem rude!pat

a lot of people think it's a peppers original, and you can't really blame them, it's a blinding version

both prince and the peppers have done covers of the ohio players love rollercoaster too...guess they have a lot of common influences!

My wife had never seen Prince. I had seen him more times than I have any other artist. Around 30 in total. So to make it special for her I bought the V.I.P package for us both. I was a little concerned with regards to the reviews that had been posted etc etc about the show but went with an open mind as I always do.

The backstage party was a hoot. The food was great and the company was too. It was a great way to meet fellow Prince fans as there wasn't much seating in the backstage bar so we ended up with a few new friends around our table.

OK bad Xperiences. The staff at the O2 were discourteous and sometimes downright rude. They were at times a little heavy handed with some of the folks who simply wanted to go to the toilet. Prince was late and the main show did appear to be fairly short.

The main show tho was absolutely awesome. Plain and Simple.

We were 6 rows from the front and the band passed us as they were led in, except for Prince who "appeared" to be brought in in a large box. The set started well, progressed well and I was absolutely blown away!! The set lasted just over an hour and a half and it was simply awesome.

After we left the main arena, we joined the queue for the aftershow. Again the staff were an absolute nightmare except one guy who gave us the obligatory no cameras or he might decide not to do the show. I asked him if Prince was playing, he told me "unofficially" that he was.

We got into the indigo, took our places behind the metal bar as the view I thought would be better from there. (sorry to the girl who's foot I accidentally stood on... (I am the fat fecker with the half mohican) and thanks to the nice couple I met at the bar who bought me a drink... =)

The aftershow I thought was almost as good as the main event. It lasted longer was less formal and was sooooo funky. The toilet seat song was an absolute riot.! I remembered a funkadelic song in there also somewhere..

And that hat... wohooo was awesome.. I managed to get my one and only photo of him in that hat with the flash off. It's a little dark but I'm gonna play with it a little to brighten it up and then post it here...

We left,

I asked my wife if she enjoyed it... she said one thing which I'll remember forever...

"I'm all funked out..."

Made me chuckle...

My most memorable and favourite gigs were Lovesexy in London and the Gold Tour also in London...

Saturday Night blew em both away...

All I can say to you guys who have tickets for the 1st and 21st Sept... buy some aftershow tickets... You won't be disappointed...

At first the stage was covered in them (I guess they had been spontaneously scattered) white, red, pink and some orange ones (I picked a couple of orange ones and put them in my bag - but they're all dried out now!). Then, just before the show started, a member of the crew swept a path through them and eventually proceeded to clear them all. Safety reasons I guess. They left those on the big while shag pile cushion...

If I'm not mistaken, they were of the variety 'Dame Thora Hird', and were grown by Prince on his allotment in Walthamstow. The petals were plucked at 10.33pm on Saturday by the Twinz estranged half cousin who had been bathing in the breast milk of teenage mothers from Uzbekistan. The petals were then arrange by naked quadriplegic orphans into the secret symbol of the Holy Sphincter that originate from a lost people who once lived in the foothills of Hackney Central who were wiped out by the congestion charge in May 2001. Their bloated remains can still be found at the shrine of the Big Mac in Mare Street. A truly Tragic tale.
