People Dressing boring @ the O2.. There used 2 be only 3 occasions people would dress like a freak. Halloween, Orgy & prince concert
Really disappointed that so many people are dressin 2 the O2 concerts like they're just going 2 the corner store 4 some milk & a loaf of bread. I'm old school (when it comes 2 P), been to every UK concert P's done since 1988's Lovesexy.. whats happened 2 the freaky, funky way people used 2 dress 2 come C Prince.. Colour me Peach n black not grey n grey P.s, I'm the buff dude in the Cowboy hat, will be there 2nite . [Edited 8/17/07 5:55am] Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who farted? ...was it u?

[Edited 8/17/07 5:55am] Been a Prince fan since I was in short pants back in 1990....my ever gig was a couple of weeks back on 4th August and I knew that my dress code would be "as glam as you can"...so I managed to acquite a very tasty purple denim jacket, two gold Prince "symbols" on the lapels, tasty purple shirt, and topped off with silver "symbol" pendant. Smart and Prince-attired...and I even talked the missus into purpling up for the gig. But I was most disappointed with the rest of the turn out on the 4th....we saw four girls with purple berets, a few Prince t-shirts, and the odd purple top here and there, but other than that the dress code was lame!! Honestly I felt out of place. The aftershow was a bit better fortunately. Hope people make more effort on the 21st! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

Disagree with this thread.
Its a concert, not a fashion show. Dressing whacky should not be a prerequisite. Its all about the MUSIC people.

I purpled up for the first one I went to but still dressed appropriately so I wasn't too hot or uncomfortable.
I saw those girls in the berets on the 4th too

I don't think it hurts to make a little effort though, and the man himself must take a bit of comfort when he sees the fans have made a little effort to dress up for the show. Plus it all adds the atmosphere of the show....I will add that we were staying up there at the Holiday Inn right by the arena and had the ability to head back and freshen up whenever. We're heading up to the show Saturday and getting thr train back that night so I think comfort might win out over looking glam!! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

[Edited 8/17/07 5:55am] Just off to the VIP in about 15 mins - wearing white trousers, beautiful purple top and nice accessories - think I might stand out in the crowd if other people are so badly dressed - I agree with you - last week they were mostly dressed in scruffy jeans and t.shirts. Let us keep up the good work.

I saw an awful lot of really scruffy people on saturday 11th - I mean come on, at least make a bit of an effort! It's a night out! I know it's all about the music and all that but a little effort to show that you appreciate him turning out and that you mean to enjoy yourself will not go amiss. I'm not talking full on Prince Ruffles and purple jacket just get a bit dolled up!
I must say that I did see one character who made my 2 hour wait in the 'aftershow ticket exchange fiasco' well worth it - his name was Tony TNT - he had a skin tight purple vest and SPRAYED on tight purple snakeskin trousers (that didn't leave much to the imagination!) they both had 'Tony TNT' appliqued on. FABULOUS! I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

FABULOUS! I saw him as well! he looked very eye-catching! I went to the shows on the 1st, 3rd and 4th, then the 11th. I was going VIP for the 11th, and was planning to get really dressed up, but from looking at the other VIP's on the other nights I was quite disappointed and thought id be over-dressed. But i just went for it anyway! Lots of people were looking at me so maybe they wished they had made the effort to! If you have spent that much and its your special night go for it! Also anything which could possibly get you noticed by Prince has got to be worth it!!

I noticed this too, I think it's not so much that people don't make the effort, I think it's because we are all a little older & wiser.
Years ago, you would see alot of Prince wannabe's...I'm quite glad I don't see that anymore. My first concert was Lovesexy '88, I was 17. I spent days making my own outfit, blag cropped leggings with LOVESEXY written down the side & a black jacket -PRINCE written down one arm & COLETTE down the other...I wish I had a picture. Now I'm just glad I can go and buy a nice dress instead.

I completely agree! Too many boring dressers at these concerts! Try and dress up people as I'm bored rigid seeing people around me in jeans, rugby shirts - c'mon people. On Tues 14th even saw a bloke who looked like he was climbing a bloody mountain in boots, long shorts and a khaki t-shirt!!! If only I had a gun!!!
Dress up people, if only a decent shirt and some long trousers!! Been going to Prince concerts since Parade at Wembley in 86 and every concert tour since then and I've always dressed to the nines!!! If you see me at the concerts say hi - i've always got my red feather boa!! Dress and dance your arses off!! Don't go to the concerts in Jeans and t-shirts!! Dress to the Nines!

Dress how you wanna dress. I don't dress up. I'm a huge Prince fan and saw all three shows in Mpls. It was hot. I wore shorts and a sleeveless (Prince) T-Shirt. I like people watching at Prince shows. Fun to see the outfits some folks come up with but it ain't for me. I wanna be comfortable.

Dress to dance. Mid week there's too many sad arse London commuters who take their tie off and think they are getting down. They should go into the office glammed up to the 9s, they'd be feeling way special come show time.

I will dress up 4 tomorrow night, but I won't wear highheels. These would kill me at the latest during the aftershow..... dressed in black, maybe black'n'white & a golden Symbol around the neck must do it. How's the weather in London? Is it cold? How is it inside the O2 & the Indigo? Hot? Is there a wardrobe somewhere or are there lockers 2 put a jacket and a bag in?

The thing is though, if everybody dressed to impress we'd not be concentrating enough on the stage because we'd be admiring the audience. Result is Prince gets the hump. Therefore I think it's best to dress dull.

I dress so that I feel comfortable and can have a good time. What's the point of dressing glam and then feeling like a twat? That's not to knock anyone that does dress up, I enjoy seeing it, it's just not for me.
I respect peoples right to dress up, so surely you can respect my right not to. The most important thing is that we all have a good time and I don't need to dress outrageously to do that. RIP

I didn't dress up too much for the concert but I did personalise a purple t-shirt, comfortable enough to dance in but for the afterparty I went for it, funky boots and matching dress just a shame it was the night he didn't bother turning up.
I spoke to Tony TNT, he designed the outfit himself! Said he was flying back to NY the next day oh mama I wish I could resist ...

When I went to the opening night, I was quite shocked to see that I had almost turned up in a matching outfit to Prince and the Band! It was almost as if I had been discussing what to wear with them

'twas the socks-and-sandals brigade the two nights I went to the O2. At least my boyfriend and I found it easy to find each other through the crowds! I think people should dress in a way which makes them happy, and comfortable (especially if planning to dance). I personally choose to dress up, but I know its not for everyone. I suppose I just got my hopes up, expecting a very glam crowd from some of the posts on here. But...its all good! Sounds like a real man to me...mind if I turn on the radio?
