Controversy (old fanzine) once held a party there

I heard the same thang from my friend.
But I heard they been contacted once without further confirmation too, so go figure... What venues have worked for Prince in the past? Emporium, Café de Paris, Camden Palais, what else? Subterranea is not *too* far from the Apollo, but then he has travelled across the city in the past. And while we asking, how does Prince feel about performing at a venue sponsored by an alcoholic beverage company? It's the questions, it's the questions bwoi © Common

There was a UK Diamonds and Pearls launch party held at Subterrania in 90 or so, that Controversy had a hand in.
It was an 'offical' event, though - 'Diamond' and 'Pearl' pitched up to help the proceedings along. Not a bad evening as I recall, but a really tiny place to play live.

I have no concept of how many UKNPGMCers there are...
But they would need to select a venue that would not be oversubscribed (typical London Weekend-style) to the degree that Prince fans cannot get in due to the place being already full with regular (unrelated) patrons. I recently hit Subterranea a few Saturdays ago (the nite goes by the name, Sumthin' Sumthin') and it was almost empty - so there would be less entry problems there than elsewhere. If y'all hear of anything, hit us up here, let's look out 4 (sorry) 1 another...

And while we asking, how does Prince feel about performing at a venue sponsored by an alcoholic beverage company? He doesn't feel too bad. The concert in Oberhausen/Germany takes place at such a venue the name of which is König-Pilsener-Arena. König-Pils brewery is an alcoholic beverage company. (But the arena is managed by SMG entertainment from Philadelphia, PA.) And there are beer ads everywhere... Get sexy sex, get funky at... The ORANGE Park - Funky President, people, it's bad!

That's interesting, incredibleD.
I was not sure how hardcore he'd be about this point. But it stands to reason, his performance career is to all intents and purposes 'nocturnal', so he would have to accept (even with resignation) that patrons would be gettin' they drink on at the least... Bluebird, good lookin' out. [This message was edited Thu Oct 3 7:21:55 PDT 2002 by Jehan]

The Controversy night there was a damn good night. Diamond and Pearl were there. A friend of mine had his press card on him, thought it would be a good bet to ask them for a chat, we sat upstairs with the girls for about an hour talking and having a drink. They are beautiful.

Well you can see the top of my head for 2 seconds during Peach on the Scarifice of Victor video (Bagley's '93.)
Beat that! (Course, I haven't let the fame go to my head or anything.) All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.
